The crab dip was good as usual. The calamari was a disappointed because the batter was too soft and doesn’t give any texture or taste. The bruschetta was okay and was not a big fan of mushroom and grilled onion on top. The NY Strip doesn’t have much flavor without drenched with sauce. The regular and bacon/crab risotto was excellent. It was defiantly the highlight of the meal.

I have been in the food and beverage industry since I was 15… this is such a refreshing delight, truly a hidden gem in High Point. I catered for them during market years ago not ever thinking they’d be down the road from where I settle down(in KVegas, the land of nothing spectacular) so that’s kind of «nostalgic» to me, and also tells me they’ve been around for a LONG time and still doing something right! The food is decadent, DEDICATED, rationally portioned, and impressively expedited from the kitchen. I am now rambling out of excitement… sorry. Lisa has been FANTASTIC over the last year since we’ve been dining here and she really inspired me to sit down and give them a shout out because of how incredibly entertaining and patient and attentive she was for my dads 67th birthday; a party of 7 with a five year old child at 7:30 on a Saturday… So just, HATSOFFTOTHISPLACE! This is a fine dining establishment so yes, a little pricy if you’re not used to treating yourself, but well worth it. You get what you pay for. Bön appetit!

This restaurant was a great find for our party of 3 after a long day. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service was great, and the menu expansive. The salads were a meal in themselves(the oyster salad was very good) as were the each of the«small plate» selections that we ordered. The small plates were over-salted, though. We don’t have health issues with salt but if over-salting is a house policy, it’s not a good one. If it’s the chef, well… We’ll go back another time but we’ll order with a caution about the salt.

Been a few years since I dined here but now that I have another Daughter going to High Point University I get to enjoy BWG once more! This is the best restaurant in the area.

Great fried oysters, mussels for appetizers. The scallop special as also good. Helpful and friendly waitstaff. The bar was vibrant with many locals who seemed to know each other. They had the women’s soccer World Cup game and the NBA finals on TV. Fun place with very good food.

Fantastic dinner. The crab cake was quite large and was accompanied by many different flavors. For an entrée the pan seared grouper was phenomenal and topped with a shiitake mushroom/roasted pepper relish. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great seafood meal. The ambiance was also very nice.

Very odd location, that can be hard to find. However the inside of the restaurant is very nice, and the service matches. Started with the duck appetizer which was absolutely delicious. Here come the downsides, entrees: I had the Mahi, it was good, but boring and the fish was dry. My girlfriend had the Scallops with came with a bhock choy salad. The fish vs the side did not match at all and the Scallops were cooked nuce, but not cleaned completely. I doubt I will return because of the price tag versus quality of flavor.

The staff is always amazing and the food is always good. My latest favorite is the monkfisk, though the mahi is also great. If you are looking for upscale dining in High Point, this is the place.

Very nice place. Staff was quite friendly and the food was tasty. Portions were certainly enough to be filling, but you don’t plan on having leftovers.

Excellent find. Seafood was great, both Black Grouper and a flounder special was terrific. The waitress was outstanding, one of the best in years. A little tough to find, but well worth it.

This place is awesome! We have dinner there almost every night we are near High Point for several Furniture shows a year. Stellar menu, super nice and consistent serving team. You will not be disappointed if you give it a shot.

Visited Avalon right after Labor Day and ate twice at the Blue Water Grill, once in the evening and once for lunch. Both times the food and service was excellent. My boyfriend and I shared the crab dip appetizer which was more than enough for two. After we had cheese cake, the best we have ever eaten! After a wonderful evening there we went back for lunch the next day. Eating a generous helping of crab salad along with freshly baked sour dough bread, over looking the ocean made the whole experience impossible to keep to oneself! I highly recommend this restaurant, the others we tried in Avalon did not compare.

What a disappointment. I had the frogmore stew, which turned out to be a smallish portion of over cooked whitefish, five tiny mussels, three slices of rubbery sausage, a few overcooked shrimp, and a couple fingerling potatoes in a decently-spiced fish broth. My wife had the salmon special, which was(as you’ve probably guessed by now) overcooked. The culinary part of the meal was somewhat redeemed by a solid ahi tuna appetizer with a touch of pickled ginger, and the desserts(key lime pie, sorbet, and bread pudding) were solid but unremarkable. The meal ultimately would have be a three-star affair but for two more negatives: 1) rather terrible service from a waiter who acted like he was guaranteed his 20% tip because we had six in our party; and 2) the exorbitant price.

I was looking for a nice restaurant as a special treat while dropping my son off at High Point University. Found Blue Water Grill and was very impressed. Service was impeccable and the food was excellent — could compare with high-end restaurants in any city. Highly recommend to anyone in High Point looking for a very nice night out.

We tried this last night for my wife’s birthday… the staff took GREAT care of us, the food was FANTASTIC(and left us excited to try other entrees next time), and we left very satisfied. I had the Ahi Tuna, my wife had the Scallops. Both were amazing. Gourmet food, delicious but not too heavy or overly rich(i.e., you can eat here without feeling like you ruined a healthy diet), and great service. A must-try.

Ate there again and loved it again. Service is spot on and the food is great. The anchovies on the Cesar salad are fresh. I wish they would deep fry them again. Oscar grouper was perfect seasoned and hot in temperature. Asparagus was buried under the grouper but was still perfectly cooked.

Everytime we come down to Greensboro to visit our client, we try to go to a different restaurant. This time around, we were invited to Blue Water Grille. Amazing Choice! Cute location, nice bar area where the group hang out a little before our whole party arrive and a fancy dining area. Service here is one of the friendliest you can ever find! Our server was such a sweetheart, she was also a good«sales person». We had a great time with her! Now to the food… We tried three different appetizers(scallops, seared ahi tuna, dumplings and some dips). Everything was so good, I really liked the scallop dish. IT was supposed to be an entrée, but since they only have 2 of those available, we opted it for appetizer for everyone to try some. Great choice! After the round of apps, my entrée of seafood stew came and it was very very good as well. We all had a great time here, wining and dining.

After the local food critic’s rave review of Blue Water, I knew we had to check this place out — and tonight we did. I don’t always come away with the same opinions of a restaurant as he does, but this time we could be siamese twins. This is a hidden gem, literally. Finding it was the only off note of the evening, and that is nit picking. But, it is not an easy find, first time, and our little GPS lady seemed totally confused. She said our destination was on the right, but it wasn’t — a Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank was. But there is a code, and it is 3. If you are coming from Main Street, it is the third«drive way» on the right. If you are coming from Johnson Street, it is the third«drive way» on the left. This is a softly lit, well decorated place, with interior walls that provide nooks, and soft corners. And there are several in-wall fish tanks that provide ambiance and amusement — one with a hard working catfish that is amazingly single minded. The wait staff, apparently an all female lineup, is exceptional — efficient, knowledgable, and friendly. We were seated quickly, drink orders procured, and a delicious bread soon followed. It was a crusty potato bread, which I really found nice — and I’ve always been of the opinion that potatoes should be mashed, fried or baked. There was a nice small plate of olive oil with basalmic vinegar. The Fried Calamari with 2 dips was excellent and plentiful. The Crab Bisque was as good as I’ve ever tasted — rich and creamy, with a mound of real crab in the center, and for $ 6. The Oscar Grouper was very nice — loaded with crab meat, and cooked to perfection, and the sauce was rich and smooth. It was listed as blackened, but we ask that it not be blackened, and we were accomodated, perfectly. It came with maybe the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had that weren’t cooked by my grandmother. You do not want to count calories or carbs here, you just want to enjoy. The appetizers run $ 6 to $ 12, with the entrees coming in at the mid to upper $ 20s The Beef Tenderloin was also perfectly cooked, tender and rich. This place is best known for its seafood(thus Blue Water), but that beef is pretty darn good. And the desserts were equally exceptional. The Chocolate Torte, or lava cake to some, was really nice, with a near perfect cake, tender and light. And the chocolate wasn’t bad either. The Key Lime Pie was equally exceptional, rich and creamy. They have a nice sized bar here, and a bartender that pours a good drink. This place is celebrating its 7th anniversity, and it should have many more.
