I first found Matt DeCalo on eBay, and for a former sorry fatso like me — he’s been a godsend.
Buying new suits on line? Are you *mad*? But the deals are so good, you just want to believe with all your heart. You clap, clap, clap because Tinkerbell just has to live! LIVE damn you!
And so I bought. At first, it was just a suit or two and they were so nice and the deals were so good. My nice tailor smiled at me so friendly and took them in. When I added up the total cost for tailoring of three brand new suits even with tailoring, I’d saved about 2/​3rds the cost of buying retail.
Before I knew it, I’d bought 17 suits It’s more suits than I’ve ever owned and I wear them all the time because they’re pretty darned nice. It’s not just the Macy’s stuff, it’s also Bloomingdales and brands I would have bought were I shopping on my own. Not a single suit I’d say is a second or a factory reject.
I’ve been treated so well by Matt, I send all my buds to him now and sure, I get a lot of teasing for being so cheap. But — you know what? Who cares. If I have to drop $ 200 on a suit to have it tailored to my oddball measurements (40″ chest, 29″ waist) why should I give that money to a big name store instead of a local independent tailor?
In every case, Matt’s given me great service and the suits have arrived within 5 business days via UPS. He has a facebook page for his fans with frequent sales and discounts.
