AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

I brought my vehicle in with 115k miles because of a check transmission light (yes it exists). I chose this location based on the AAMCO name alone. They couldn’t find anything based on the indicator itself and suggested to take it apart for $ 900 and go from there. With no other option at the time, I agreed. After that was done, nothing was obvious again so they said they could rebuild the transmission for $ 3000. Since it was already 14 years old and I had a second car, I declined and was just going to pay the $ 900 and be done with it. Over the course of the next day and a half, 3 calls from the office followed, each time becoming more aggressive in selling me that I should rebuild it. I finally gave in after they dropped the price to $ 2700 and they rebuilt it. Not a day later, the same check transmission light came on. I went down there in person and was treated very unprofessionally. I was stern and inquisitive, not disrespectful, but what I got in return were fingers pointed at me and being told to sit down and wait. At one point the manager even warned me about slandering the business. Extremely unprofessional.
After another look, they determined it was just the speed sensor. JUST THE SPEED SENSOR. I was out all this money but I got my car back in working condition, but when I went to pick it up, I was witness to another customer being PUSHED to do a rebuild of their transmission. I was 2 seconds away from warning the guy, but held back. Only 2 years later, and not another 10k miles, the transmission acted up again and I had to junk the car. Some rebuild.
DO NOT come to this place. If the lack of professionalism and customer respect is not telling enough, maybe the fact that they can’t properly diagnose a transmission problem — something they supposedly specialize in — that should keep you away. You’ve been warned.
