The burgers here are absolutely amazing! I love it here! The atmosphere is a perfect place to hang out and have a beer while eating a burger. I come here with friends all the time!

I was going to «downgrade» my rating to three stars, but I saw that’s where I pegged it last time. FOOD? *** 3 stars. The Big Cheese(burger). One slice of what looked to be Kraft processed cheese… disappointing. The bun on the bottom melted causing me to finish the last half of my burger with a knife and fork. Toast the buns and use a better quality(thicker) Boar’s Head style cheddar cheese.(If that doesn’t work for you, at least used two slices of the Kraft«imitation» cheese.) A cheeseburger should taste of cheese, and this one doesn’t. Disappointing! French fries. Shoestring version. * One star… barely. Served shriveled and almost cold. This should have never been served to a paying customer. I will not order their fries again. Someone in the kitchen… just…doesn’t…care.(I would have sent these back, but my waitress never returned to check on me.) Disappointing! Cleanliness? *** 3 stars. 93.5% and stagnant in that range. Too low for such a landmark Hickory establishment. I expect a better score, and not a continuation of the malaise. Service? *** 3 stars. The waitress took my order promptly and then never returned to ask how my food was. I was going to complain about my fries being cold, but… I received one refill and my bill was brought expeditiously, but overall service was average at best. I left a 20% tip, because waitresses have a difficult life. Price? **** 4 stars. $ 10 for the whole meal wasn’t bad. Tonight’s effort was not even worth the $ 10 though. OHTR’s Big Cheeseburger. In the past I’ve hailed it as Hickory’s best burger. Tonight, I was debating with myself if it was even a «GOOD» burger. Oh well, restaurants are hit and miss, and tonight was definitely not a bulls-eye. The best thing that I had was the Coca-cola.

This is a good place to eat if your downtown Hickory. Food is good and is a cool place to go to. And if your like burgers or wings than you will like the Olde Hickory Tap Room. Especially if you like pub chips you have to try the BEERCHEESE it goes perfect with the chips. And sometimes they have live music.

Average at best. Every time I have been here it takes a long time to be seated, to be served and to get the check. It’s a drag. It is literally impossible to have a quick meal here. Now, the food. I must say, I enjoy their wings as well as their pub chips. Another sandwich I recommend is the buffalo chicken sandwhich, awesome taste and consistent sauce. Don’t bother with the pizza, it’s disgusting to be honest. I would never make a special trip to eat here, but if I’m the neighborhood I might come grab a beer or some wings.

The atmosphere is nice. Somewhere between a dive bar and a family restaurant. The staff was super friendly and professional. I had high hopes for this place, but the food was just lack luster. It’s not bad, it’s just not anything special. Tasted like a lot of things came out of jars or cans before being plopped on the plate with other fixins. Highlight food wise was the Ham and bean soup. It was excellent! Wish I’d had that as my main meal. We’re just traveling through, so we probably won’t be back to try it again.

Shhh, don’t tell, but despite being from Charlotte and all the breweries around here, Olde Hickory actually makes my favorite and go-to beers. Their stout, imperial stout, and especially Event Horizon are beers i go out of my way to make sure I am stocked up on. First time there, we had dinner at the tap room. Server Aaron was terrific and made great suggestions. We shared ribs(TODIEFOR — just smoked… so good no additional flavor/sauce/rub required… falling off the bone), fish & chips, house salad with awesome blue cheese dressing. The cole slaw was a little dry for me, but still tasty. So glad we stopped in, Event Horizon will get released early Dec which will make for an excellent reason to trek back.

We were in town visiting family and we ate there the last night we were there. I had the Blu Cheese Burger and added mushrooms. AMAZING! Can’t wait to re-visit. Friendly staff and only had to wait minutes on a Friday night!

Good food and a nice variety of craft beers. Do watch how much the bartenders charge you if you pay by debit or credit. They will rip you off. I had to go to the manager the next day after I checked my bank statement. She did reimburse me. I wasn’t the only one there complaining about this happening.

I had the chicken and cabbage soup that was very tasty. Hubby had the black and blue patty melt that I would order again. Our waitress was friendly as well.

Good beer and good food. Perfect pricing for the quality of food. Great selection of NC crafts including their own line. I have been there several times and always had good service. Very crowded and loud most nights«made the mistake of having a meet and greet with a business contact on a Thursday night». They have a bar and a separate dining room«still pretty loud» but they booths and plenty of seating. Clean restrooms.

My friend grew up here and swears by this place. What a great find. I had stopped here for lunch and had the sandwich special with pub chips. Great service, Great ambiance, and good value. I will dine again. Got to be the best place in Hickory though I am interested in trying the Station across the street next time I am in town.

This pub/restaurant is small but the food is spectacular. First tip is call ahead and get a reservation. This may be a small town, but apparently EVERYONE wants to eat here. We waited for about half an hour on a busy Friday night(out of towners) for a table for two. We were initially placed at a high top in the center of the bar area, and I mean the center. We were surrounded by people waiting for drinks and talking loudly about the game. After asking politely to be moved to an available booth, we were told we could be put back on the waiting list, as there were people still waiting. Okay, I suppose that’s understandable. Our waitress was incredibly busy, but extremely pleasant, and as most of their beers are the pubs own microbrew, offered to bring us tasters of our likes, IPAs vs Lagers. Then the crowd swelled for some reason and we couldn’t even hear ourselves across the table. So we asked to over again, and since and other table has just left, we were gratefully accommodated, and thankfully moved into the dining room. And the night improved tremendously. My wife ordered the Delominco steak, and I the Salmon. My god! Both were phenomenal. I do advise to be specific and order up on your steak. She ordered medium, and it came out med-rare, closer to the rare side. The spinach Maria is phenomenal and the smashed potatos are made from scratch. The deserts are divine and the beers are pretty darn good as well. All in all, once the seating situation was sorted, it was a great experience. Our waitress Kelly was one of the best we have ever had! As soon as we asked, she was immediately back with whatever we needed. We were probably most impressed with her. A great place to eat, but if with family or wanting to actually hear your dinner mate, request the dining room. Great beer and eve great food. Nice find in a small town.

This place was my go-to place when I was in Hickory. The food was outstanding and the beer was great! Prices were awesome and the service was great. I could’ve come here every night and not have gotten sick of the place! It’s a must go to place if you’re in the area!

Awesome in every way. Clean, lots of great fresh brewed craft beer and many others as well. Right in the center of town with plenty of parking. My wife and I both ordered sandwiches with cold slaw and potato salad. My wife was raving about the chicken salad on sourdough, and I was raving about the managers special Layered Pig sandwich. We shared with each other and my wife said they were really good. The Death by Hops beer worthy.

Great burgers! Friendly service & reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere. I enjoyed the hickory salad, which was fresh & adequately loaded with meats & cheeses. My husband sampled the beer & got the tasty, huge chicken sandwich

I ordered a crab cake sandwich. It was very good and would have them again. The sandwich came with their restaurant made potato chips. They were good as well. When I asked the waitress what beers they had, she went to the register and printed off a list of them. No descriptions. I just order tea and went to the bar to learn about their beers. They didn’t have a brown ale, but the Ruby Lager which was pleasantly malty. I will go again to explore more of the menu

The tap room… where to start… food, affordable and out of this world. Burgers are prices right. Fish and chips, delicious! But the pizza… hands down the best! Even tried their black bean burger. Yummy! Now they could easily renovate the place, ya know, spruce it up! And for goodness sake add some more beer. I feel like it’s always the same. Always. The band’s that play are way mediocre. And always way to loud. But hey its a bar I suppose… Beer wise. The stout is eh. They have a ipa that is goos. But the ruby lager has got to be a top seller for most. Hope this helps! Now the bad… the waitresses here SUCK. Every once in awhile my bill will come out right… once in a while.

I used to live in this town and the best local place for lunch/dinner was this place. Downtown Hickory is mot very busy, but this restaurant has always been packed and busy. Food is decent: i always get the fish and chips or the tomato grilled sandwich. Good selection of beers, and basic selection of wines. Affordable prices.

For a few weeks now I’ve been looking for an excuse to taste some beers from Olde Hickory Brewery and finally had some business in town. I came on a Friday right at 11AM to beat any rush. Two hostesses greeted me warmly and I made a bee line for the bar. No table today, I’m here for the beer! Although the bartender seemed a little preoccupied at first, in the end, she did know something about beer and was helpful making some choices. This is the second restaurant I’ve encountered, where they print off a receipt that lists all of their beer selections — simply put check marks next to the ones you want and hand it back. Samples are only $ 1 per 5 oz beer, even the high gravity or imperial ones. you can taste one or all of them. I opted for four. Although the Ruby Lager was not a favorite, the Hickory Stick Stout and Death By Hops were excellent; both were very complex and delicious — can’t remember when I had a stout that had so many good things going on at once. The winner by far was the Black Raven Session Beer(the regular Black IPA was out) — so drinkable. The food seems to be typical pub fare — appetizers, sandwiches, burgers and throw in some pizza for good measure. I had the Buffalo Bill — a breaded chicken sandwich dipped in Buffalo Sauce. The sandwich was tender, hot and juicy. The sauce had the perfect heat — not enough to kill you, but enough to keep your lips tingling for a good ten minutes. The décor is pretty cool — the whole top of the bar is covered with hanging pewter(I’m assuming) mugs. Rich dark wood gives you a warm hug — you can feel the history around you. They have more liquor choices than an ABC store and a great selection of beers on tap. The manager, Jimmy, even came by to make sure I was happy with everything and I was!!!

I had been to the Olde Hickory Taproom once before but didn’t remember much about it because it was on the tail end of a beer tasting trip. This time around I made sure to make it my first stop. Last time I sat at a table opposite the bar and it was so busy that I couldn’t tell how beautiful the bar was. This time around I sat at the bar and noticed the wood work for the bar shelving. Amazing. The taproom serves beers from Olde Hickory Brewery, hence the name of the place. But they also serve other beers in tap and bottle form. What is really amazing is that it seems they have every liquor available at the ABC store for your drinking pleasure, or so it seems. The bottles just went on for miles. As usual, I ordered a flight which is your choice of all the beers they have on tap. There were some decent beers here. Death by Hops, the Hefe-weizen, Event Horizon, and the Table Rock Pale Ale were my favorites. They also serve food here and I went with a Carolina Burger. The chili on the burger was great and spilled over onto my fries which was a great combination as well. I wonder if they do chili fries here? Service is what shines here. I remembered that from my previous visit as well. The bartender here was very helpful even though she was extremely busy. Good place with decent food and good beer.
