They sell John Deere and Cub Cadet mowers. They have an excellent PARTS department. Their garden center is well stocked, and the employees are courteous and helpful. I have been using Hickory Home and Garden Center to keep my 1989 model 170 John Deere running like new since 1996. I had a repair issue one time, and they came and picked my lawnmower up on a trailer. The work took a couple of weeks, which was longer than I expected. They also left the mower parked outside overnight, due to space limitations, which I didn’t particularly like, and it was outside during a Summer shower. My mower has been garaged or covered since 1989, and that’s why it still mistaken for a new mower by those who see it. I know that they don’t have any other options, but I do wish that the mowers were stored inside overnight or covered. Their lawn mower parts dept. is excellent. There is a senior lady working there, who always finds whatever miniscule part that I need for my John Deere. She has never disappointed me. If she says that they don’t have an item in stock, which is rare, one can rest assured that the item is not there. I have every confidence in her. Frankly, I have been amazed at some of the obscure parts that they have had on their shelves; parts that I just«knew» would not be there. They will gladly order any part, and it usually takes a week for it to arrive. John Deere parts are amazingly inexpensive, and they stock parts for mowers that haven’t been made in decades. I did NOT know this when I purchased my riding mower, but it has been a welcome surprise. The other gentleman who works in the parts dept., told me last week that he has been working in parts since 1970. I told him that he should just about have the job figured out by now. He got a large laugh out of that. My John Deere 170, which I purchased in 1989, still runs, preforms, and looks like a new mower. I cringe when I see the prices of a new John Deere profession series riding mowers. We’re talking $ 8K or more. But given the longevity of my JD170, I hope that I have many more years of life in the mower yet. Proper maintenance makes all the difference. Hickory Home & Garden Center has helped me keep my mower running well, and I am grateful to them for that.
