I’ve been here twice and both times were exceptional. The ambiance is upscale and the waiters are very friendly. The food was amazing and they give homemade biscuits and jelly to start off with. All the food we ordered were really good and the price is reasonable.

Homemade Biscuits and pepper jelly to start. Truly you don’t need to go past that bit we had the turkey press with sweet potato fries. It was delish sandwich big enough for 2. And the fries were more like wedges so crisp on outside and all the softness and flavor on inside. Also had the steak woodfired pizza. Pizza big enough for two. With a huge amount of perfectly med rare steak on top. Hostess and waiter were so nice and attentive without hovering. Can’t wait to go back for lunch and to try dinner.

I’ve been in Hickory two months, this was by far the absolute best dining experience I’ve had. Solid menu, great outdoor seating area and shockingly good interior design. Innovative plates prepared by what is an obviously well trained staff of chefs. Happy to have found this place and will return without haste.
Popcorn flavored ice cream!
***** not cheap, but absolutely worth it.

Went here for lunch. Décor was great, food was delicious! Our table had soup, beet salad, bacon egg burger, and bacon press. Everyone was very pleased with their meal. Cheddar biscuits and jalapeño jam to start was also delightful.
Rated 4 because I felt the menu was a little limited and unimaginative (lots of basic pizza, burgers, sandwiches). This place is definitely capable of more.

Why are people saying this price is reasonable? Its a rip off! A $ 15 salad? And proportions were like a spoon full. The staff was very helpful, but prices were crazy.

Elagent, friendly staff, great wine. The food menu is a bit limited and perhaps less interesting than the atmosphere. Still it is a place to go that is a cut above other restaraunts in the area.

Outstanding! You need to try this place. It has great flavors, great ingredients, a fun yet up scale atmosphere, and spot on service.
And, it is all very reasonably priced. Try the goat cheese appetizer, flat bread or whatever they have on special. Everything is good.

Best restaurant in Hickory! Love their wine, love their biscuits, love their food! The ambiance is phenomenal. Sitting outside in the summer is key. You feel as though you are in a cute trendy restaurant somewhere else, not in Hickory. It’s a great escape for any occasion!

We have gone a few years ago and I am just now reviewing.
Overall, this restaurant is very upscale and quite the establishment. I would have to say that from what I remember the food was pretty good and the Caesar Salad was fantastic BUT the overall atmosphere and servers were on the «snobby and elitist» side. There was just an air that everyone was better then everyone else. This did not affect me too much but it did bother my girlfriend at the time.
I would go back to this restaurant again and as others have said, this restaurant does feel very out of place in Hickory. It seems to be pulled out of a rich city and plopped here in «little olé’ Hick-​ry»
I would rate this a «B+» overall but would rate better if the prices were a bit cheaper and the overall atmosphere wasn’t so elitist.

I would give it 5 stars except I would like to see Youseff change his menu a little more regularly. Like seasonally. I get kind of tired of the exact same thing year after year.
The prices are also a little steep for some of the entrees, but the food is always top quality, fresh, and very creative.

The best place for fine dining hands down. The owner, Youseff is very accommodating and depending upon who you get as a server your experience will be good to excellent. The bar staff of late has been poor. Outside seating depending on the weather is the best spot. Wine is superb. They have a Bella Glosse. Deviled eggs are a fav and their jalapeño jam is something your palette must experience. For lunch stick with the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Dinner we usually go with the specials. If the server is good, tell them to impress you and they often do.

Very very classy place and some top quality food as well.
Waitress was not only drop dead beautiful, but knowledgeable, friendly and had a great disposition. She was very impressive.
The Caesar Salad was inventive, unique and one of the best I have ever had! Creative takes on mainstay dishes like this is WHY I love dining out and trying new places! Hats off to whoever created this salad for going the extra mile and not doing the pedestrian/​boring normal Caesar!
The Wagyu Beef Hamburger was so juicy and flavorful! Ordered it med rare and it was perfect! The bun was awesome as well, held together, stayed firm and yet remained tender on the inside!
I cant believe this place is in Hickory (no offense to the Hickorynites/​Hickoryers/​Hickorytonians) But if I didnt know better I would think this place was in Portland or San Francisco or New York! This place is incredible! if you are in the Hickory area — GO!

To lunch with some wonderful customers and had one of the most surprising great meals at this wonderful restaurant. I felt as if I was eating somewhere in New York City or California but it was somewhere in the middle of North Carolina. The calamari appetizer tasted as if it came right out of the ocean, the Ahi tuna complex and very flavorful, the atmosphere wonderful. I would definitely recommend, and will be back again when next in town.

Came here for lunch.
Got a margherita pizza and minestrone soup. The soup was very good. I wished it had more broth but it was very tasty. The pizza was just okay. I’ve definitely had better. It actualy had too much tomatoes on it, making it turn soggy more quickly. The area near the crust tasted much better as it stayed crunchy.
Overall, it was okay. Between 3 and 4 stars, so I rounded up. The menu offers good variety, so I may return to try something new.

This is in Hickory? Wow. Upscale cuisine, service, décor, and a great wine list. This restaurant would fit in a major market just about anywhere — and is definitely the best restaurant in it’s class in the Hickory area.
Solid service, great steak, amazing desert, wonderful selection of wines and cocktails, beautiful presentation, plus great service.

I have been a fan of Youssef 242 for years but, for whatever reason, have never taken the time to write a review. The experience this evening however, was a game changer. The food was excellent as usual and speaks for itself, we enjoyed the calamari appetizer, scallop entrée and halibut special, all expertly prepared and delicious.
During this visit it was the service that was absolutely outstanding. Our server Jennifer provided us with an experience above and beyond what I ever imagined possible while dining out. I’ve been to a few establishments in a few different locales and have had great servers, but her efforts to make sure every aspect of our dining experience was excellent go unrivaled.
Bravo to Jennifer /​Youssef 242 to raising the bar.

Very nice upscale restaurant. First dining experience in North Carolina and it was amazing! Met Yousseff, very nice gentleman. He even served our entrees!
I ordered the Lamb Tenderloin with Cauliflowers. Lambs were not warm, but still tasted very good. Also had some Green Beans and Macaroni & Cheese, so very good. For dessert I tried the German Chocolate Cheesecake, which was way too rich for me. Also had the Vanilla Bean Ice-​cream and Blackberry Cabernet Sobert which were both delicious!
The wine list is very impressive. I was with a group of 7 people. We finished 6 bottles of Silveroaks Napa Valley 2006. Definitely was a great dining experience and will have to come back when I’m in North Carolina again!
