Dr. Schroeder is everything you could ask for in a psychiatrist. He spends the time to get to know each patient, and you can tell he genuinely wants to help you get better. He doesn’t just throw a prescription at you and say«See you in a couple months», but helps you work out a plan for how to get better. I can tell that when he changes medication, like adding something new or upping the dose, it’s not because some salesman brought him a nice dinner. He won’t give a prescription unless he really believes that it’s for the best, and you can see that when he thinks about how to proceed. I know a lot of people have to go from doctor to doctor finding one that they«click» with, which just adds to the stress. I feel very lucky that I can truthfully say that I look forward to seeing Dr. Schroeder every month or two, which probably isn’t something many people can say about their psychiatrist. Yes, sometimes he’s a little bit behind, but that’s something to be expected. I don’t know how psychiatrists schedule their days, but I’d imagine they have slots between prescheduled patients for emergencies. In all honesty, if someone feels they need an emergency appointment with their psychiatrist, they often should be the priority. Dr. Schroeder has changed, and quite possibly saved, my life. I would recommend him to absolutely anybody who is deciding to reach out for help with mental health.
