Rib Country – Hiawassee

I’ve always enjoyed Rib Country for years, so I was excited to see the new location open in Hiawassee. The staff was all very friendly and we received our food quickly. My wife got a salad with turkey and balsamic dressing and I got a cheeseburger. They were both delicious. There seems to be something for everyone on the menu. My son loves the chicken fingers and homemade chips. The ribs and brisket are also favorites of mine. We will be back for sure!

The barbecue was about average but not worth raving about. The concern about this place is the service. Excruciatingly slow and they were out of many items even though they had only been open for about two hours. The staff was really polite and friendly, but they were seriously overwhelmed. At least 30 to 40 customers had to be turned away because the staff could not get the seated diners their food and get them out of the restaurant. It took my party one full hour to get our food, and we all ordered food that should have been ready. The only item that needed to be cooked to order were french fries. Two other families waited longer than we did. In all there was a cashier, one waitress, and two employees in the kitchen. No manager appeared to be present. The restaurant was packed (about 40 diners) so there was no way the staff could keep up regardless of how hard they were working. I should give this place 2 stars for the efforts of the staff, but the ownership/​management deserves 1 star.

Avoid this location of Rib Country. Took several members of our camping club there for lunch today. Service was slow. Hot dogs were ordered all the way expecting mustard, ketchup, cheese, slaw, and onions. Orders served with only cheese & slaw. Took several minutes to get waitress to find and deliver packets of mustard. Hamburger ordered with mayonnaise, lettuce, & tomato. It was served a good ten minutes after the hot dogs without mayonnaise. My group will not be back.

Fantastic ribs!!! The Hiawassee location has great home made potato chips too! The cole slaw and baked beans are too sweet for my taste. Very friendly counter service. I’m a fan!
