Yoan Barbershop saved the day. I found-out before coming here that the person that does my hair at an unrelated salon nearby is sick and her return date is not known at the moment. So, that’s why I was here today. This isn’t the first salon I stopped at. I stopped at two others before this one and they weren’t accepting walk-ins. I had no idea this was here even though I pass by here all the time. I was trying to avoid the usual traffic jam on West 12th Avenue so I cut into the neighborhood and saw this salon there. I was already going to take the interior roads back home when I saw it. A miracle from Jesús de Hialeah? Maybe… I really needed a haircut today. It’s almost hidden on the ground level of the iconic to us locals Kikiriki Plaza. It’s very easy to miss. Like I said, I pass by here all the time and had no idea there was a salon here until today. Things to note and blah, blah, blahs: * Language here is español and, please, do let me know if they speak English also. * Parking — here is tight and limited, however, street parking on the interior roads is also an option. This is an older building with apartments atop. Fun Fact: Kikiriki is what a rooster sounds like in español(cockadoodledo = kikiriki.) I say it’s an iconic place because before the larger supermarkets started popping-up in this area, when West 12th Avenue was only two lanes with farms on either side, the supermarket in this plaza is where some of My Peoples, los cubanos that moved to this area back in the day, used to come here to do their groceries. Through the years, businesses have come and businesses have gone here, but, to us locals this will always be «El Kikiriki.» #KeepItLocal
