Okeechobee MDT Station

While centered in the heart of a very Cuban neighborhood, this stop is nestled at the base if the Metro Rail Station. Be forewarned though, busses won’t wait for you here, so, if your Tri-​Rail arrives late, you’ll have another 40 minute delay till the next bus. You can catch the 73 North/​South, the 267 and that special $ 2 mini white shuttle buss that runs the same route as the 73 in both directions. The shuttle doesn’t accept Buss Cards only cash and the drivers don’t speak English. The Metro Rail stop above, is the 3^rd stop from the Metro Rail/​Tri-​Rail connection on your journey to Hialeah, Miami Lakes and Doral. I found the 73 South from here to be much faster than the 238 from The Miami Airport Buss Station. It takes approximately 1 hour to get to NW 12^th and Milam Dairy Rd. Whereas, the 73 South can only take around 30 – 40 minutes and leaves about 20 minutes before the 238 buss. Make sure that if you take this route that you ask the driver to let you out at the train tracks and not 14^th Street. If I lost you any, I’m referring to Doral, on the opposite side if the end of the runway of the Miami Airport.

It’s fairly close to my home making it a wise choice for when I go Downtown from Hialeah. When I worked Downtown, for a while, I also used Metrorail. This station is very convenient and has LOTS of parking. I have no complaints about this station or Metrorail. Again, it is very convenient for those of us that live in Southwestern Hialeah that want to make it to Downtown without dealing with the hassle of traffic or parking.

A but dusty, only one bathroom on the first floor always close, would be nice to keep it cleaner and a bit safer.
