I really enjoy good quality food. This restaurant has excellent prices and the meals are a great value. The ambience is less than many places but the food more than makes up for it. I usually get the sample plate. Not sure what number that is but it includes a tamale little cup queso bean and cheese tostada and beef and chicken fajitas. They also give you two homemade flour tortillas. 1 basket of chips is complimentary and they charge for each additional but actually my fiancé and I both agree that that is great because we are watching our weight. My fiancé likes their fried shrimp platter and their chicken tenders with queso. BTW you are given a menu w pictures and order by number. One night we were given an order of free sopapias which is a dessert as a daily special. Went to breakfast once and my fiancé and I got egg and sausage burritos. I enjoyed mine and added jalapeños and perhaps another item or two. To add extra toppings is very reasonable. My fiancé and I really enjoyed them. Back to my sample plate. It also came with guac and of course rice and beans. You have to wait a bit for your drinks to be filled but like I said the food quality, prices and taste make up for ambience and service being a little lacking. Forgot to mention their flour tortillas are so good the sell them by the dozen.

*Lorena Location* What more could a Texas girl in a small town want! This little place has some of the best Tex-Mex that I’ve had in a long time. Food came out hot & super fresh. The place is clean & the staff are very friendly. Prices are also a big plus here!

I have had breakfast or lunch here about a dozen times in the last 4 or 5 months. The service has always been good, the food comes out fast, and it’s very good, especially considering the price. I really like the place, and for what it is they do a good job. One of the other reviews mentioned that the owner is grumpy but I think she’s just very hesitant with her English.

Favorite go-to spot for breakfast burritos. Fantastic, quick service. Fresh ingredients, inexpensive and clean. Go earlier in the morning rather than later as they’ve been known to run out of important ingredients(eggs!) anytime after 10 a.m.(This has happened to me twice!) All-in-all, wonderful experience and would definitely recommend.

A real fan of the chicken burrito. The service is usually ok, I use the drive-thru often. It’s a bit overpriced. Add 1 or 2 things to the burrito besides meat/lettuce/tomatoes and it’s like a $ 9 – 12 burrito easily, with a tablespoon of additives.

Yeah. Go here. The pastor plate with some fresh lime is incredible So good. Except the side orders. Don’t order a side of anything. The chicharones are nothing but a bowl of greasy, nasty, fried bits the size of rice. That is not chicharones. A side of potatoes is a bland bowl of boiled potatoes. Really?

Had chorizo plate, it was just like I like it. Torts are great, nice and fat and soft. Menudo was excellent. I want to make this a regular weekend thing.

Gotta love the strip mall style Mexican café… They always seem to be set up the same… You walk into a large room with a counter in the rear with wait station where they have horchata on tap sodas by the can… They even serve Topo Chico my favorite! I was greeted and told to sit wherever I like as she continued to mop the floor –1 servise point granted it was 3pm(the dreaded mid shift). As soon as I sat down my server asked what I wanted to drink and I was thirsty so I ordered a tea unsweetend. 3 minutes later she came back and asked if I wanted sweet or unsweetened -.5. Soon after I received hot fresh tasting chips in salsa, standard, nothing special. I ordered the queso flamiato($ 5.99) for myself and two ala-carte flautas.($ 1.75ea). About 7 minutes after I ordered my server puts this huuuuuuge ass plate of greesy cheese goodness in front of me. Then two HUGE flautas that came with healthy servings of guacamole and sour cream, Nice! It was delicious… only 5 minutes into my gluttony sinfulness I had a food baby the size of mini me. I had to GO! I headed to the restroom in a hurry and to my surprise they were FANTASTICALY clean. I found it a little odd though that there was a mirror directly in front of the commode. If you were standing more than 5′ your head towers over this mirror. It was ment to be hung that low for some reason. Bathrooms +.5 I headed back to my table and then waited… and waited… And waited some more until my server came back and says«did you want something». I thought to myself«yeah, how about the check and a box 10 minutes ago». She got me the check and they do it by hand… I didn’t get an itemized receipt showing anything just the total amount. It was a little bit higher then I did in my head. I should be happy that Amy Mexican joint takes credit right… Sorry 15% for you but another -.5 for service… As far as cheap Mexican… It was fresh, hot, fast, and what you would expect… The bathrooms were nice, the staff was friendly but not attentive at all. I will return and hope to give them 5 stars. It just wasn’t there for me today. It was very clean I want to add.

I love this place! You can eat in with regular service, or you can drive through. The food is excellent, and the tortillas are fresh. You know this is authentic.

I occasionally go here, but I feel like they keep their grill a bit too hot. The food often has that sort of overdone flavor. It’s not burned; it just tastes a bit overcooked. I do like the fresh tortillas.

Their thick, freshly made in-house tortilla are a treat. I went with the hashbrowns instead of potatoes with my breakfast tacos and it was the right choice. They had a great crispy, crunchy outer shell and a nice soft potato interior. The queso we ordered came out a little lukewarm, but other than that this place was a great stop for a late breakfast. The line of cars for the drive through was outrageous. So outrageous that you couldn’t part on the southside of the restaurant because it was permanently blocked by patrons trying to order some breakfast. That’s an excellent sign to me as a new comer to a restaurant. I will definitely eat here again the next time I happen to be in Hewitt.

My parents do not keep food in the house. They eat out just about every single meal. They also don’t do anything on the weekends except watch TV and sleep. Hmm, that’s where I get it. Anyway. After loving the pancakes at Taqueria Altos de Jalisco for breakfast on Saturday, we went home … staked out our prospective chairs/couches/lazyboys and passed smooth the heck out. About 530pm, my mom wakes up and says we should decide what we wanted for dinner. I jokingly said, we could go back and get those enchiladas that looked so good. Apparently, she didn’t pick up on the jokingly part, cause that is exactly what we did. 8 hours later, and we were back. My mom, dad and I all had the Combo #4(2 cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, and a taco.) My grandfather had a chicken fajita salad. The salad was HUGE! It looked good, but it was all iceberg lettuce and after finally getting rid of a migraine that had hung around for almost 2 full weeks, I wasn’t about to start another one. The Combo Platters must have been good because there was not one single bite of anything left on my plate. See yall next time I’m in Waco.
