The chicken and sides are great! The chicken is charbroiled and is always juicy! I always get the rice and fries as my sides and I highly recommend those. The staff is very friendly and checked on us to see how the food was. I highly recommend Pollo Peru.

The chicken is fantastic, as well as their side items. I visit every 2 weeks. Only problem is they are understaffed and wait times can be long. Staff is nice but not trained like other businesses

Great cheap Peruvian chicken! The ají amarillo and ají verde sauce were good, so make sure to order a lot. A half chicken is plenty for one person with a couple of sides.

For cheap ethnic food, this is as good as it gets. No atmosphere, bad lighting, and without frills, but just great food. The food chicken is charbroiled to perfection and always juicy. The sauces are great. I always get rice and black beans as my side, and then an extra order or plantains — very sweet and delicious. There is also a Pollo Peru is Reston. The food is just as good, but I just like the one in Sterling better. It feels more open. I highly recommend!

Best chicken sandwich in 20 mile radius. Price is stellar as well. Sides are all top notch to complement.

Stopped by after a long day and was pleasantly surprised! Purchases a whole chicken with a large steamed rice and black beans. This was by far the best chicken I’ve had. It was so flavorful and juicy! The chicken lasted several meals for dinner and lunch. The sides were great too! Everything tasted fresh — like it had just been cooked. This will definitely be my new place! The added bonus was service was great and fast.

The ladies that work here are so nice and go above and beyond service. So far I have only had the chicha Morada and the alfajor! Both were delicious. I am American however my boyfriend is Peruvian and I lived in Lima for 6 months last year. The lady heard my accent when I asked for the chicha and alfajor and then spoke Spanish to me instead. I was happy to practice with her. The chicha was great and traditional, just like it was in Lima. The alfajor was big and had a generous amount of dulce de leche. Can’t wait to come back and try all the entrees!

Feed a family for $ 20? Yep. Not a huge selection of food, which is fine. You know what you are going to get. Good chicken-Rice and beans-and a bunch of great sauces. Best restaurant to be in this location. I have had no problem with the wait, and have eaten here on numerous occasions.

Pollo Peru doesn’t have the taste, crispiness and wow effect that Peruvian chicken has. As a Peruvian I’ve basically visited every spot in the area and this one is just meh…

Great food, very clean inside. The only 2 downsides are there’s a pretty long wait if you order to go, and they charge for extra sauce.

Took over 30 minutes for my food to be ready after ordering. There were 3 other people in the restaurant and it was in the middle of the day, no where close to closing time. I have never waited that long for a restaurant like this to cook food. The chicken itself was pretty good and the sweet potato fries were tasty. It’s a shame they take so ridiculously long. I will never return to this place again.

I would give this place 5 stars for its well chargrilled chicken and excellent service but the fries seemed a bit unflavored and a bit dry. Other than that you have to go!

We enjoy eating the chicken from Pollo Peru. The seasonings are perfect, the birds aren’t too fatty and the price is right. Throw in some black beans and yucca and call it dinner. Like many other chicken joints in Reston/Herndon, the yucca is a valuable root. So valuable a root that all of these places have an additional charge if you would like to eat the yucca. OK… if you say so. So why the four stars? Well, in the time it has taken me to write this, you would still be standing at the cash register… alone. The good thing is that you will have some spare time to watch the chickens spinning in the rotisserie and ponder the value of the almighty yucca root. Then someone shows up and takes your order. Then you wait a really long time while the staff keeps disappearing behind the spinning chickens. You hear laughter. Finally, they all return to the front and start making your order. It takes forever. I could have grown a Yucca by now. But hey, the chicken is really good. Eat some.

Nice plump breasts Ok, now that I got your attention. … There are like 3000 Ala Brasa joints in the NOVA area. Each one serving the same fare. I love the char chicken dealio but got pretty burned out on the same gig time after time. Pollo Peru is across from where I buy my hockey equipment and I’ve contemplated a lunch drive by from time to time. Finally I got in the other day expecting the«usual». Clean place, owner on site, and wow… big ass chicken yo. When you can eat the wing and drumstick and they haven’t been dried up and over cooked… u got a home run. Big fresh side salad, good yucca and spicy sauce… man… lip smakin’ good. Best yet… CHEAP. All this for less than what I typically pay for the same meal. Bottom line: These chickens are as juicy as your girlfriends azz. Just an observation.

Herndon/sterling location is a pleasant surprise. Nice, comfortable interior. Prices are pretty good, we got the whole chicken with 2 large aides for around 15 bucks. Service is quick and it usually isn’t crowded. Will definitely come back

Stopped here on a weekday around 4pm. I got a half chicken(white meat) with platanos and coleslaw. The chicken portions were bigger than I expected and super fresh. The skin was really flavorful and crisped perfectly. Environment was clean and staff was very welcoming. 5 stars all around for me. The only thing I didn’t like was that they only give you 1 small sauce per piece of chicken and charge you 25¢ for extra. The lady gave me extra sauce free of charge but I feel they should give you at least 2 – 3 sauces per piece as most competitors in the area do that as well. None the less, excellent restaurant. I will be going back often!

Stand corrected on the online ordering. And the reason I was having problems finding this location online is because it is referred to as the«Herndon» location, even though it’s technically in Sterling. I ordered online through the Eat24 app so that I could swing by on the way home from work and pick it up, had to wait 10 minutes still but I was happy to be out of work early so I didn’t care. I asked for lots of extra yellow & green sauce cuz I knew the hubby would want a lot and they gave me a huge bag of it! Very happy. Makes great leftovers. Forgot to note on the last review how beautiful the establishment is. Very clean and well designed, interior wise. I hope they last a long time.

Oh, pollo a la brasa, pollo asado, Peruvian-style roasted chicken, hallowed be thy name. Thank the gods of pollo heaven that there are so many options in Fairfax County from which to choose! One of those option is the Pollo Peru establishment, with one in Reston’s Home Depot shopping center(see my glowing review of that institution here: ), and the other along that gray line border between Sterling and Herndon, in a converted former Pizza Hut building. Access is fairly easy directly from Route 7 and Dranesville Rd. It’s fairly empty, generally speaking, on weekday evenings, so I didn’t run into any chicken shortage issues, which befall many of my go-to pollo spots during the lunch rush. Staff was friendly, counters and food prep areas appeared to be clean. There’s a display case of prepared dessert items to go. There are also fountain Coca-Cola products, and canned/bottled Inca Cola/Chicha Limena. Pricing is what you’d expect and commensurate with other pollo asado establishments that offer the standard ¼ or ½ or full chicken with the proportionate number of sides. Chicken itself was fine, but neither as juicy nor as large for a ¼ white as I’ve had consistently at Waku, Chicken Rico, and Super Chicken. Saltier, too. Sides were average(along with most elements of this establishment); yucca and sweet potato fries were neither offensive nor memorable. You’re provided one yellow sauce and one green sauce; I wasn’t charged extra for additional spicy green sauce, so I’m not sure what their policy is on sauce. There are other options nearby in the myriad Sterling shopping centers just west on Route 7, and also the sister(and superior) Pollo Peru is also close by, not to mention my two favorite Herndon establishments, Waku and Chicken Rico. I can’t say that this Pollo Peru is my favorite, but it wasn’t terrible, either.

Yummy. My first time here and I will come back for the Chicken Salad Sandwich and for the plantains but not for the Yucca. The sandwich was very tasty and flavorful as were the plantains. The Yucca was bland so they weren’t eaten. My friend got the half chicken with black beans and rice. She said the chicken was dry and overlooked and would not get that again. The staff were friendly and efficient and the restaurant very clean.

Was really looking forward to this place opening up since it’s right around the corner from me. Maybe I had my expectations too high. Hoping for an experience comparable to the Tysons Super Chicken, I popped in on a Friday night to get a meal to go. Looking at the menu, it seems like they have the chicken part down well, but the sides are severely lacking. There’s really only 4 or so choices to pick from. Not the best. I put in my order with the friendly staff, and proceeded to wait about 20 minutes for my order to be prepped. It’s not like most other locations where you go down a line to pick out what you want cafeteria-style — you place your order restaurant style. This is one point where Pollo Peru can definitely improve. There were actually a lot of people waiting in front of me, so maybe they had just run out of chicken in the roaster. I don’t know. But if you’re supposedly a chicken place, I’d think that you’d have a constant stream of chickens that can be taken off the racks. Flavor-wise, the chicken is alright. It’s about on par with most other places, but the Tysons joint still beats this one out. If they can figure out the logistics a bit better, they will probably do well. Otherwise, I’ll be skipping it.
