Kelly Shanks Jackson is the best stylist I have found in this area! I won’t see anyone else! She knows how to work with my fine hair and I never have to stress about not being satisfied when I leave. Kelly also has an easy-​going demeanor and is great to be around, which makes the experience so enjoyable. It’s obvious that Kelly takes her profession seriously and keeps up to date with current styles and techniques. She always answers my questions and gives great suggestions!
Kelly also did all of the styling for me and my 6 bridesmaids at my wedding. All of the girls were so happy with their styles, and that almost never happens at a wedding! Everyone looked fantastic, thanks to Kelly, and the pictures all came out great!
I would highly recommend Kelly, if you need a stylist!

I have been seeing Kelly for almost 3 years and even though I’ve moved a bit far I still make the drive to see her. It’s so hard to find someone who knows how to cut and style curly hair and she’s the best! And I’m constantly changing up my color, be it red or purple or peacock she is very flexible with her talents. I would definitely recommend her if you’re in the area. Plus her place has a cool vibe. A true artist!

Let me start by saying I am an incredibly picky woman when it comes to my hair. So is my husband – both about my hair and about his own! Since moving to the area, I have tried a half dozen different hairdressers – highly recommended, at fancy salons, referrals, the works. Every experience felt like the stylist wanted to do what HE/​SHE wanted to do with my hair – not what I wanted. I left in tears on several occasions. A particularly horrid botched color experience had me calling out of work because my hair looked like a Sun-​In disaster circa 1996.
I finally found Kelly (actually, my husband did, and immediately knew I would like her) when she worked at a salon that has since closed. Since the very first time I went to her – close to a year ago – I have been deliriously happy both with the service and the results. Kelly is attentive, friendly, and incredibly talented. Her private studio at the Herndon Salon Plaza is relaxing and a wonderful respite from the fast pace of NoVa. I couldn’t recommend her more highly!

My daughter and I got great haircuts by Kelly in her new chic boutique salon at Salon Plaza. We would follow Kelly anywhere but this location is perfect next to Worldgate in a cozy shop with high windows looking out on the trees. Perfect location and haircut. We will be back to see you soon!
