Green Lizard Cycling & Coffee

I love this spot. It’s in Herndon right off the W&OD trail. Free water fill ups, and excellent espresso hits the spot when you need that burst of energy. Of course, it’s a full service bicycle shop so there’s lots to buy.

I recently purchased a new road bike from Green Lizard Cycling and was extremely pleased with the service and overall experience. Being somewhat new to cycling, the staff helped explain different options and took the time to help me find the bike that was right for me and then helped make sure that the bike was fitted appropriately for me. All in all, it was a great experience and like others have said, be ready for an experience when buying a bike from Green Lizard. I made 4 trips out on the W&OD trail on 3 bikes to make sure I had the right one.
Since the purchase, the staff at Green Lizard gladly helped fix an issue with my bike free of charge and quickly. Great shop and great staff! I’ll gladly keep returning. Thanks Green Lizard!

Excellent bike shop and coffee shop! Friendly locally owned shop. The owners are always present and pleasant.
Bike supplies are diverse. Everything I’ve purchased has worked well.
Bike services are quick and accurate.
The coffee counter times their real expresso pulls. They have smoothies that are made with real fruit. Italian sodas, cold water, cold Gatorade and some fresh baked goods.

Great staff, good selection of bikes, supplements, tools and accessories, and even great coffee! I came here on a Wednesday morning right as they were opening at 7am. My bike was stolen 4 months ago and I had not gotten a replacement since then and had seen online that green lizard cycling was right next to my neighborhood and offered bike rentals. I walked into the shop and was greeted by the friendly owner Dave.
He was very knowledgeable about bikes and cycling and was very helpful. I ended up renting a very nice road bike at a rate of $ 42 for 4 hours. If I remember correctly there would have been a $ 12 charge for any hour that had exceeded the 4 hours. What I really liked about this place was that it is located conveniently next to the W&OD trail.
I also ended up ordering an iced almond latte with soy milk before my long bike ride, and it was surprisingly very delicious! This shop is so great because not only do they sell and service bikes, but they also rent out bikes and serve coffee and pastries for the early birds out there. They also serve sandwiches as well, but only on the weekend. I would definitely recommend this shop to all of my friends and bike enthusiasts.

This place is a gem. Dave and Beth (the owners) are so super nice along with the rest of their staff! The staff is patient, knowledgeable, and will give it to you straight with no upselling or trying to get you to pay for services you don’t need.
Buying a bike from Green Lizard is an experience! Be prepared to test out three or four bikes (awesome that the W&OD trail runs right outside the shop!) and for each bike to get tweaked before you ride it so the saddle and the handlebars are in a good position for you. After you purchase the bike it’s put on a trainer and the saddle/​handlebar position are adjusted and re-​adjusted by someone on staff who looks at how you’re pedaling and makes sure that everything’s good before you ride off into the sunset. They stand behind their bikes too– have a really good return policy if you decide you don’t like the bike.
Plus this is definitely a local watering hole for cyclists– come on a Saturday or a Sunday and there will be plenty of people outside drinking coffee or popping in for a smoothie or sandwich.
I’ve been to a bunch of bike stores in the area and Green Lizard is, hands down no contest, THE BEST (with Bikenetic in Falls Church tied for first place). I am so happy to shop here and happy to bring my bikes here for maintenance.

My friend and I stopped here for an ice coffee break after a bike ride from Vienna. The staff was really friendly. We had inquired about bike 101 classes and they offer them at least once a month. We were told they are offered more in the wint
