We consider ourselves meatloaf connoisseurs & Café 51 has the bestest in the land! Everyone was so nice. Clean & comfortable restaurant. Just a homey, feel-good old fashioned southern café. Reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking. Save us a table, we will be back as often as possible. YUM!

If you’re passing through town this is a nice spot to stop to eat lunch. Faster than fast food/fast casual, about the same price (~$ 8 for a meat+two veggies and bread), and it’s good. Pretty traditional southern fare. I thought the black eyed peas and green beans were great. Fried Chicken was good. Corn bread was also good. The environment is nice, old time southern, and the people are friendly. Only thing I did like: the food could have been a bit warmer and the coffee wasn’t great. Its not a coffee shop though and a cup cost a dollar so I can’t be too picky.

Had to drop it to 2 stars for being too inconsistent. Had a pretty bad meal last time in. Sucks because it can be decent. I used stop in here a fair amount when in Hernando but do not any more. The folks working are always very nice and the food is pretty good home cooking. I’ve had better and I’ve had worse but it’s a pretty good spot for a quick lunch. It is a little inconsistent and will be better sometimes than others.

First off, it is good food. But, the food is in a category I like to call «homemade» which is very different from «home cookin» or «down home» or «southern food». It is food that literally tastes and looks like you made it at home. Nothing wrong with that. Again, it’s good food. It’s a cool atmosphere inside an old house. It really feels like time slows down a little when you eat there.
