Such a great place to watch the game. Huge TVs with the sound actual playing(major plus) with some good music playing in the background. They have a great draft beer selection, golden road, the dudes, and green flash. The real reason to come here is for the food– get the Nono Special and add avocado… It will not disappoint. The garlic Parmesan fries are also killer. I’ve been coming here for several months now and have gotten the chance to know the staff, really good people who love what they do. Mauricio knows what he’s doing in the kitchen and always puts in the extra effort for every dish. Thank you hermosa pub, will be back for many more visits.

Came one time and the place just doesn’t fit on the pier. The GM Chris was very rude. Would not recommend.

Food is pretty good usually. The Nono sandwhich is great is you like spicy. Fries can be a little greasy/salty sometimes, but hey, those are fries. I have noticed a slight decline in the quality of the food since they’ve changed from Big Mike’s to Hermosa Philly Pub, but still hits the spot for now I’m mostly just writing this because I’m sitting at the Starbucks across the street and couldn’t help but notice how terrible the new sign looks! «Big Mike’s» had some personality– a big guy with a big sandwich. I know they’re trying to rebrand as a pub/sports bar, but who thought this new sign was a good idea? Plain black text on a white background with a green streak? I’m not trying to give someone a hard time, but I think someone made it in Microsoft Word, blew it up, printed at kinkos and framed it. If making signs isn’t your thing, it’s a pretty darn good job, but to hang it off your restaurant? I think if you dropped the $ 500‑1000 to have someone like Signverse or Spinverse or whatever that company is called to create you a professional sign, it’ll pay for itself in no time. Get a college design student to create some graphic branding ideas for you they can use for their portfolio. Service usually good. Sometimes they’ve got b/s playing on the TV(talk shows with no volume/subtitles? watch that). Food saves it, but keep it to the phillys and the nono. (Note: i don’t own a sign company nor do I do design, this sign is just really ugly and it hurts my eyes).

What happened to Big Mikes? Used to be great but just got a cheesesteak and something is not right, was not very good, half the sandwich inedible because the bread was soggy and mush. Should have kept the ingredients the same because the new ingredients/method is not good. The employees were very nice though just need to fix their food.

Great authentic Philly steaks, possibly the best I have had in La. The service and staff are phenomenal and if the food isn’t enough to bring you back, the service should be. The chef Chewy was a great host and cooked the food to perfection. Complements to you, Chewy!

Going downhill fast… first it was the fries and then the bar really screwed things up and now you don’t have cold sandwiches?! Then you changed the name… ouch!

Had a great sandwich from Big Mike’s Philly Steaks. Grilled Chicken, Mushroom, Tomato, Grilled Onions, Hot Sauce, Melted American Cheese, on Scooped Bread and pressed like a Panini. It was so simple but all these simple ingredients work so well together. In a day and age when a lot of places think it’s cool if you don’t know what ingredients you are eating. Keep It Simple Stupid still rings true.

I had stopped writing negative reviews on places, because I simply don’t have time to be negative, but I always hear bad things about this restaurant from my co-workers, but the one in El Segundo is good, so I thought i’d give the Hermosa location a shot. Sometimes I like buffalo chicken strips, so I called this place on a Sunday while I was working up the street from them. Was left on hold for 3 minutes. When I called back, the girl answering the phone was argumentative instead of apologetic. I went to pick up my order + fries and when I got back to work I discovered the fries were awfully overcooked. They were inedible. «Why would anyone serve these to someone?» my co-worker remarked. I called the restaurant and explained to them and they did offer to redo the fries but obviously I was at work and don’t have time to be going back and forth to some restaurant… in short, they ripped me off $ 3.75& they need to learn how to serve food correctly and quit serving people garbage!

The waitress had a great personality & was originally from Philadelphia, so we knew the phillys were going to be great. They did not disappoint! Just stick to the originals and you will be in ooey, gooey heaven!

The only bad thing I can say is that I’m so pissed I didn’t know about this place sooner. Had a Philly cheesesteak with everything and it was absolutely magical. Dare I say best cheesesteak I’ve ever had??? The girl behind the counter was so nice and welcoming, and I’ve definitely found my new quick lunch spot. They have beers on tap too!

Worst hot dog ever. Cheese Whiz everywhere(which was not originally part of the order in any way). Ate a piece of it and threw the rest away. How can you possibly mess up a hot dog? I mean really. Me and a friend got the naked hot dog and the garlic parm fry hot dog which both ended up having Cheese Whiz all over them. If you love Cheese Whiz, mushy fries, and fry oil; Big Mikes is the place for you.

Fun fact: this place has 6 beers on draft, along with house made pickled eggs, pretzels and chili peppers to go along with those ice cold beers. Don’t really need to say more but– this place is your go to pickup spot in hermosa if you want to grab some sandwiches for lunch Clean atmosphere, friendly staff, and amazing amazing food. Can’t ask for anything else

I love Big Mike’s…my son and I go there when we crave a steak sandwich. There are two original chefs that we ask to make our sandwiches, one is the manager who runs all the the Big Mikes, and the other is now over at 190th. For some reason they make the best steak sandwich and last time I saw exactly why. They season the meat perfectly and cook it the right amount of time. The french fries… not sure why you changed them… they were the best frozen fries ever. The new freshly cut skinny fries are not good and I think you changed the ranch dressing too. This is how I order mine: extra cheese, grilled onions, and hot sauce. To die for. Going again this weekend. Please stop making changes… when there is perfection, dont change it. Bring the old french fries back… stay original…

Definitly Not Big Mikes Anymore! Trust me. we grew up here and ate at this place since it opened. back in the 90’s. and before the new ownership /partnership… ORDERWASTOGO… POOR! Portions(except for lg. soggy mound of fries) and Even Worse Quality! Ordered the Cuban Sandwich and the Beach Burger Meal. $ 20 for both items. not including tip! Worst and most worthless $ 20 I ever spent! Fries. not the same. soggy. flavorless. just gross! Cuban. Smallest sandwich for a foot long I’ve ever seen, not to mention the roast beef. dried /overcooked like beef jerkey and a thin measly piece’s of meat at that…(check the pics) didn’t even finish it. taste was gross. just meat, cheese and overly mayonnaised… 3 lil pickle slices on the whole thing. YUCK! Burger. was ok. at least worth eating, kinda… split it in half with my girlfriend since her Cuban was so gross! But definitly not the same burger we’ve order for years in the past. We will definitly not be going back. subway around the corner puts out a better sandwich than what we were served tonight. and that’s not saying much! Especially for the price. Very unhappy and now feel raped. and still hungry!

This place is great. The girls at the front always greet me with a smile, they have ice cold beer on tap, their service is super fast and most importantly the sandwiches are tasty. Bonus: they’re right by the beach, they serve bar peanuts and they have a couple TV’s if you’re trying to watch a game.

very good customer service, but I felt the fries were flavorless and the philly cheese sandwich was a bit heavy & salty
