I play on Monday nights and there’s usually an empty court. You do have to watch out for the tennis instructors who reserve the courts for lessons but they usually only take over two or three courts. This is the best place to play at nights because it has amazing lights. There are six courts to choose from and they’re all pretty nice! Come join us on Monday nights at 6pm for beginners or all levels on Sunday at 4pm. I found it through the meet up group called All levels southbay tennis.

I’m surprised that no one has written a review for these tennis courts yet. I just started playing tennis again after a 10+ year hiatus. I don’t know why I stopped because I really do love the sport. The difficult aspect is trying to find people to play tennis with you as well as find good tennis courts on which to play. In order to play more regularly, I decided to join a tennis group and they happen to use these courts located near the Hermosa Beach Civic Center as a meeting place to play tennis several nights during the week. The courts are free to use and can be used on a first come first serve basis. They are well-maintained by the city and the great thing is that they have lights so you can play at night. The lights will go out automatically at 10:00 pm at night which can be a slight surprise while you’re playing because it gets dark and so you’re somewhat stumbling around in the dark trying to gather your things. There’s a shared parking lot for the civic center and parking can be tight at times since the center usually has classes and events but with some patience, a spot usually opens up. All in all, this is a great spot to play tennis and I look forward to playing here over time.
