Abe’s Liquor

I’ve supported ABEs liquor alot, after Altadena «coldest beer in town» was sold and closed. In fact prob spent $ 200 this past weekend. I just went in to buy $ 3.00 bag of cookies with my ATM /​Debit card and mama san denied me, gives me a hard time, tells me $ 5.00 minimum.
They just lost a long time customer over $ 3.00

These guys are awesome! They deliver quickly and are always friendly. These are the guys to call when you don’t want to drive (or can’t!).

Beyond dirty, credit cards restrictions and poor customer service. I recommend going to Von’s. They have a great store right there on Pier and PCH.

I generally don’t like to write negative reviews unless it’s bad. My experience was totally different. We were have a nice wedding down the street, two blocks away and needed ice to be delivered. We we’re will to pay whatever the minimum was. The older gentleman was extremely rude. He was snappy and completely rude. He was a complete Jerk, the worse customer service ever. I would never step foot in this establishment again.

Great location with easy parking.
No hassle with credit card payments. Some of these small liquor shops give you a hard time with credit cards, not this place.
Good beer selection — Typically offer several New Belgian beers and usually have Deschutes as well (although this week I was looking for Mirror Pond Pale Ale and they did not have it)
Competitive Pricing– Mirror Pond is typically $ 9.99 for a 6 pack, the same you would expect to pay in Von’s or Whole Foods
Their wine selection leaves a lot to be desired, but Hermosa Beach isn’t exactly filled with wine enthusiasts. Bottleworx across the street may have a better wine selection, but I only been there once and was not impressed.

I am not a drinker but used to stay right across the street from Abe’s back in the day and always dug having a store within spitting distance.
The parking lot for Abe’s is SMALL SMALL SMALL. If you are not a Hermosa Beach resident with a placard displayed in your windshield you can only parking on the street for 1 hour and 1 hour only otherwise Hermosa Beach will give you a $ 100 reminded of the parking rules.
Abe’s has your minor food & drink that you could find in a ⁷⁄₁₁ but why not support a local business that has been there for years upon year. If you are throwing a party Abe’s does deliver, I am not sure what that minimum delivery charge is but if you are having stuff delivered I am sure you are not worried about that.
Abe’s always has the latest issue of Surfer & Surfing at market price which is basically $ 5.00 so get a subscription and pay $ 5.75 for the entire year like the rest of us.
If you are heading to the Beach avoid the liquor store on Pier next to the bars and you will avoid the bums begging for cash. If you plan on bringing items to the Beach make a point to bring one more item than you brought to the Beach away from the Beach. Lots and lots of folk will pass up trash on their way to and from the Beach not realizing that when it rains that stuff will flush into the Ocean, Be the Good & clean up after yourself and for those who are disgusting and leave items behind.

I really like this place. They are very quick on their delivery time. The prices are much higher than if you were to go shopping at a grocery store, but they are friendly and fast. They are much cheaper than getting a DUI. They are great in a pinch when you can’t make it to the store.

Don’t forget, they also deliver too.

I was looking for a vodka called «Pinky» to attempt to recreate Darren’s Rose Martini. Nobody in Manhattan Beach carried one, but Abe’s in Hermosa Beach had it.

This is a very good liquor store. Great selection, great parking (an actual parking lot!!), and great location in the heart of Hermosa Beach.
