I bought a vacuum cleaner that the salesman recommended for picking up dog hair. Every time I use the vacuum I have to pull out big clumps of dog hair because it gets clogged. After a few months of this, I took it back to the store in hopes of exchanging it for a better machine. I was told that I couldn’t return it because I had bought it more than 90 days ago(which is fine, I understand return policies), but I could send it off to be serviced for FREE, as it was still under the one-year warranty. I sent it to be serviced, thinking it might have been a manufacturer’s defect that was causing the constant clogging. The service department called and asked for $ 79.99 to unclog it and told me that model isn’t designed for dog hair. When I refused to pay that much, the tech hung up on me. When I got the recorded call that my vacuum was back in the local store and ready for pickup, there was a $ 45 fee for the«servicing.» I called the store and asked for an explanation, as I was told it’s a standard diagnostic fee. I refused to pay it and the salesperson on the phone said I had no choice because they had already done the work. I asked for a manager or someone who I could talk to about removing the fee because there was nothing diagnosed and was told there was no one else to talk to. I’m going to go into the store to give it one more try in person to get the fee waived, but if they insist on charging me $ 45 for NOTHING, they can keep the machine. I’ll put my money to better use and buy a functioning vacuum somewhere else. I’ll never shop at this Sear’s again and I’m going to tell as many people as I can get to listen about the terrible policies and lying salespeople there.
