One of the best diner experiences we’ve had! Found this on Unilocal as we were moving cross country, and it was the most satisfying meal we had during the trip! We’ve since moved back in the northeast, and tho 2 hrs away are contemplating a road trip just to have it again! The food is exactly what all diners should strive to be. And the hash browns on a whole other level of incredible.

This restaurant is a classic American diner. The food and service are very good. You get the sense that most or all of the food is homemade. They offer sausage gravy and biscuits as an appetizer. I do not recommend them — — not because they are not delicious, but because you will be stuffed and not be able to finish anything else you order with them. Almost every inch of this diner is decorated with license plates, movie posters, and various other bric-à-brac. Seating seems limited, though we have never had a problem getting right in. You want most feel like you’re in a different world when you’re there. Prices are reasonable. One of my favorite diners, period.

Great food, good service. Unquestionably the best spot to eat in Herkimer. Old fashion style feel inside. Not much seating but they do a great job getting people in and out.

Run do not walk here!!! Wonderful service — Kelly is GREAT. We ate breakfast and no one had a bad experience. Great diner food and wide selection. Omelette are huge and great. Belgium waffle great. Country gravy was great. No bad food here. Again we can not say enough about Kelly the waitress. Perfection!

This is a very good place to stop and eat. We are always looking for an out of the way family restaurant and this has been one of the better places. The food and service was outstanding. The people were very friendly and even though we were out of towners, we felt very welcome.

Good food, good service. Typical diner. No complaints. Staff was super friendly and the servers hustled.

The corned beef hash was decent, although it didn’t have a high meat ratio. I didn’t like the biscuits and gravy as much as some other people did. I wonder if people just like biscuits and gravy overall rather than this particular version.

To put it bluntly, this place is either hit or miss. Either they have great food and service or not. I don’t go there very often, and when the thought comes up, I ask if I feel lucky.

My steak and eggs were very bland, sadly, but my husbands’ otto omelet was really delicious. Hash browns were basic. Overall just your regular greasy spoon but they did have a lot of tempting French toast options that were probably delicious.

I’m on a road trip from ma to Ohio and stopped for gas and food. Very easy to find. Cute diner look. Very welcoming staff. Can sit anywhere. Lisa was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. Very friendly, kind, honest and helpful. Food was good. I had a sausage egg cheese so nothing too special but ny friends hot the eggs benedict and the Half order omelet. Big portions. Great price too.

Excellent service. Great food. I can’t wait to come back. I heard the portions were huge so I ordered off the children’s menu. It was perfect amount of food. My daughter got an enormous hamburger and onion rings. She loved both. It came with a tiny container of bread pudding which was unexpected but tasty.

Not bad but don’t expect anything more than your traditional diner fare. I ordered the breakfast burrito and my wife had the breakfast sandwich. Both plates lacked a «wow» factor and tasted kind like I cooked them myself at home. That being said I’d probably eat here again if only to try their omelettes.

Was staying at a local motel on a recent trip to visit the baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown and had breakfast at Crazy’s Otto’s Empire Diner. The inside of the diner had the typical dinner feel and the menu had a lot of choices on it. I ended up getting a ham and cheese omelet and my friend got what was essentially a hamburger omelet(one of their signature omelets). First off the omelets are huge and they offer them in full or half size. The waitress told us the full size omelet is 5 eggs. The ham that was in the omelet was also large cubes, there had to be at least a half of pound of ham in the omelet. Overall the food was good. Our waitress was great as well, she kept coming over to check on us and would keep our coffee mugs filled. If you are in the area and visiting I would recommend stopping in at Otto’s for a meal. We were there for breakfast, but their burger has won state competitions as well.

This place has become our favorite stop anytime we’re near Herkimer. Especially great for satisfying that big appetite you get after a day of gem hunting. The food is always quite good, the service is totally friendly, and the atmosphere is super fun! Don’t miss it!

We were only in the area for the weekend, but we had breakfast at Otto’s every morning for those 3 days! The décor is retro and charming, the service is super friendly, fast and efficient, and the food is absolutely delicious!!! Bottomless coffee, yummy waffles, tasty homemade corned beef hash, some of the best sausage I’ve ever had and that’s also homemade! Everyone who worked there was so nice, and we were treated like regulars for the weekend :)

Visiting family in Herkimer, NY and Unilocaled where a foodie like myself should visit and Crazy Otto’s came up as the place to be. As soon as my group of 5 arrived«The Wizard» greeted us as we walked up to the diner, took our name and said it would be about 7 minutes!!! So friendly and love the preciseness. I told them how popular they are on Unilocal and they were happy to hear of it. They clearly take pride in their business. I ordered the corned beef hash as recommended by my fellow foodies with scrambled eggs and the biscuits with gravy. I can honestly say that they have the best hash and biscuits with gravy I’ve ever had!!! Portions are huge so I had to get a «to go» box. As we left they were so gracious and thanked us for coming and made sure we enjoyed our food!!! A must stop for anyone in the area!!! Seriously… the gravy … AMAZING!!! Thank you CrazyOtto!!!

Small town NY Diners are such a treasure. I’m used to Diners in RI and MA where if the food is good, you ahve to wait 30 minutes just to get some eggs. Crazy Ottos is big enough to accomodate the folks and friendly too. We got great personalized service. The Corned Beef Hash was excellent — Definitely not form a can. The coffee was good and the biscuits — well — I wish I could make them like that. Thanks folks — I wish I loved closer. I’d be there every weekend.
