This is our third and last attempt. Birthday dinner ruined and babysitter money wasted as I ate my dinner after it got cold waiting since the waiter didn’t pay attention to what my vegetarian wife ordered –he brought out oysters. Thirty minutes later I’m done and her dinner never arrived. We had to get up two times to ask the waiter and he shrugged stating«the orders in.» Didn’t care. The food when it arrives is fine but the service is repeatedly horrible. Such a constant disappointment. It a great location in our neighborhood but we will never come back.

Had a birthday celebration here and it was a lot of fun. The starters that we had were the fried mushrooms and zucchini(very good). Our group had burgers(great), pesto grilled cheese sandwiches(really good) and spumoni for dessert. Will definitely go back.

The pictures does this place justice! The food was all delicious and cooked perfectly! The drinks(sangria and margarita) were soooo good and refreshing! Not too crowded, outdoor/indoor seating, really nice!

Come here a few times and haven’t been disappointed except for the one time I stepped out my boundaries to try the crab melt. I don’t know what it was but it tasted like they dipped the whole sandwich in the ocean and seaweed. Other than that, it’s been great. Buffalo wings are an appetizer must-they’re not to spicy, nor too bland. Anyways, this place is adorable and much pub like. The servers are also super friendly so asking them for anything isn’t really a problem. Favorite time to come here is around dusk, just a half bit before the sun is done setting.

We came in for a takeout order, my boyfriend and I were craving Tuna melts. We did wait for quite a while so if you are in a rush, as we were in suggest calling in or going elsewhere. Must say the portion was just right for me as I don’t eat a lot, but a bit small for my boyfriends appetite lol Anyways, we noticed someone else’s fresh oysters and decided to come back. We had 2 dozens they were too good. I also had a jalapeño margarita(not recommended) they used pickled jalapeño Overall a really nice and relax atmosphere. Definitely coming back for the oysters

The garlic-lime chicken nuggets with aioli is probably the best I’ve ever had. The light and crispy batter that wasn’t dripping in oil suggests a reasonably fresh oil that was heated pretty high without reaching its smoking point. The shrimp sandwich was pretty decent but nothing to write home about anyway. The bread roll seemed to have been lightly toasted so that’s a plus. The accompanying shoe-string fries were really good — they held their texture and crispiness throughout the meal. The oyster po’boy however was delicious and didn’t miss the mark one bit. They sure know how to batter and deep fry their stuff! The sandwich spread was on point, the fried oyster was moist, and the bread roll was as delicious as ever. I love the patio as it faces the eastern side which means I get to sit in the shade, away from the hot afternoon sun, and enjoy the breeze and the sight of the new and kinda cute neighbourhood. I want to try their crab melt sandwich but I am afraid of the amount of butter and cheese they have in there. Our sunrise-something drinks were just right for the weather — it’s a twist on the shirley temple I guess(yea, so?) I read here that they serve bread if asked for since they wouldn’t want it to be wasted; well, I wish they’d ask us if we wanted any(not everyone knows you need to ask for bread when seated)

I am loving the vibe at Powder Keg Pub! It’s a great spot for happy hour, to catch a game, a bite to eat, etc. etc., and it’s family friendly. I came in to catch up with a cousin at happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon. We both ordered the crab melt with garlic fries and took advantage of the hh specials for beer and well drinks. My cousin was served the wrong type of fries(handcut vs shoestring), so our server offered to give us an additional order of the correct fry on the house. The crab melt was great, with crispy, buttery bread and warm, meaty crab. Some tomatoes for added texture would have made it the perfect sandwich. There were plenty of TVs in each corner of the restaurant, and we were feeling their playlist with some old school 90s R&B. This is truly a gem in the Pinole/Hercules area, check it out!

This place is 5 min away from me, so why not check it out? Well I did, and needless to say — it wasn’t my fave. 1. Restaurant location is pretty unique — nearby the hercules waterfront, and a whole bunch of houses(seems like a close, convenient place for locals) 2. Service is why it truly deserves the 2 stars. There were only maybe 3 tables occupied, and restaurant can seat atleast 10; however there was only 1 worker who’s server, cashier, etc. It took us over 35 minutes for our soups, sandwhich, and salad(and from what I remember, these items shouldn’t take too long to make…) It looked like the wait was a normal thing, which I was not a fan of. 3. I ordered clam chowder(3⁄5), Crab Melt(3⁄5) — It was way too salty, but good fries, and my BLT was good(but wish the bacon wasn’t too crispy). Overall the food isn’t bad, but the fact that there was no wow-factors — I won’t be coming back any time soonn.

Just as good as the last time! Brought more people back with me because I was hoping they’d get the same experience as I did the last time I was here! (That didn’t really matter, I just really wanted to come back here.) 2⁄5 of us got here a bit early, and since we were a bit famished, we started off with the shoestring fries and calamari. It was almost perfect timing since they arrived the same time the rest of our party did. We also decided to get ½ dozen oysters and wings. FRIES: Nice crunch, just enough salt. Can’t go wrong with this. CALAMARI: The breading wasn’t too thick, and the dip paired with it very well. OYSTERS: Very fresh and delicious. WINGS: Good crunch, good flavor. I went for the sliders — it comes in 3, so I got 2 angus beef and one fish. Upgraded the side to a Caesar salad. The sliders were definitely tasty. The meat wasn’t over seasoned. The fish had a nice crunch and flavor to it. It wasn’t too breaded, either, just enough to get that nice crunch and still get a full flavor of the fish. Dressing on the Caesar salad was perfect. I totally cleaned my plate, it was THAT good. And yes — I had the Ms. Piggy(no celery, three olives.) Love that bacon’ed bloody mary! Still impressive, Powder Keg! Will return, hopefully sooner than later!!!

My family and I enjoyed a late dinner here last night. As we were driving up everyone in the car was saying how cute and nice it looked from the outside. It was around 8:00pm, so it was very quiet which was so re-freshing to see. I grew up and work in San Francisco, so it’s nice to enjoy some time with your family without bright lights, hustle and bustle, and the sounds of tons of people, so before even walking in we were excited for dinner. We were greeted by a younger guy who was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. After sitting at our table for about 5 minutes, he had to remind our waitress we didn’t have our menus. No biggy, there were only 2 waitresses working anyway, so we understood. Gave me some time to kind of look around. For some reason, I thought this place was a lot bigger, but it’s actually very cozy and charming. Our waitress was very attentive, and sure the service was slow for not having much customers in there, but we really liked her. She made sure we were happy with our meals. The other blonde waitress(not the asian one) was not rude, but she made eye contact with me and others at our table and didn’t even smile. Just something I noticed, and I’m just glad she wasn’t our waitress. The food was good. I got the Cowboy Up burger, my husband got the Caliswag burger(lol), and my mom got the classic burger. My dad ordered the Veggie sandwich, which he said was very good. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t like vegetables. BELIEVEME! He only ordered it because he had a recent, unpleasant emergency trip to the hospital and was told he needs to include more veggies in his diet, or he would have been having a burger like the rest of us. Anywho— our burgers were so juicy! I think mine could have used a little more barbecue sauce because I love a good onion ring/barbecue burger, but it was still tasty. The downside to our meal… the fries were super greasy. I gave one to my daughter, and her hands were so oily, as were all of ours. Maybe next time I’ll try the other type of fries, because the shoe strings made us feel super heavy and greasy after our meal. Other than that, we really enjoyed dinner. Everyone went home very happy :) I would recommend for sure, and we’ll definitely be back. I’ve got too much I want to try.

I had a hankering for some calamari. Had every intention of ordering their calamari. But, a friend recommended the Gold Rush. And I just can’t ever resist an oyster po’ boy sandwich. So, I will have to go back and definitely try the delicious looking plates I saw on other tables around. Such as a very cheesy mac-n-cheese(stringy gooey goodness). Heard some other diners rave about garlic noodles… So yeah, apparently I’ll be making a few more stops to try more of that yummy menu. Warning– this place is kind of small, and smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so the patio dinning is closed after sunset, out of respect for the neighbors(I can dig that). And, the hours for the restaurant and full bar are a bit confusing. Anytime after 9pm, and you’re risking a delicious meal. Seems they stay open until 10pm ONLY on Fridays. Seems like a popular neighborhood spot, that also offers some great prices on happy hour oysters, Monday-Thursday, only. Can’t wait to get my snarf on some oysters soon.

This place is located by the waterfront in Hercules. Very nice location. Drinks: one word: strong. I ordered I believe it was called tropical sunrise. I was hoping it would be more fruitier. Food: I ordered the oyster po boy which was decent. The oysters themselves were heavily battered. But the fries came out cold! What the heck? Service: Service was good up until we received our meals then we were a little ignored. I believe it was due to the increase of customers but waiting for service with plans on ordering a dessert took a long time! To which there was NO available desserts! What?! I know the waitress tried to offer us alcoholic dessert beverages but it’s not logical to have only one of us enjoy a drink since the other is driving. :(

Service was very slow. The young blonde female waitress was constantly stressed out which did not add to our visit. She was abrupt and impersonal. I haven’t seen her before so I’m not sure if she’s new or not, but I hope she gets better at waitressing. I had the fish tacos and the zuchini mushroom appetizer. It all tasted good. It just took a long time for the order to come up. I normally like coming here, but not today. I like the more personable waitresses. So only three stars.

I came here twice within a 48 hours span. My first experience was great: I came on a Saturday around 3 pm and it wasn’t too crowded. The place looked clean, and staff was representing the Golden state warriors as game 5 of they finals was about to begin in a few hours. This was my first time here so I asked my waitress what was popular and she strongly suggested I try the oyster po boy. So, that’s what I ordered. It was pretty good, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t like oysters. The oysters were fried and perfectly seasoned. The amount of oysters I received on my sandwich was outstanding… Enough nice big pieces of oysters to completely fill the sandwich! I had a great time. My second experience, however, wasn’t as great: I loved the place so much, I took my mom here! I got the same thing(oyster po boy) and my mom got the crab melt. This time the pieces of oysters on my sandwich was scarce – I mean, I had way more bread and slaw than I had oysters! Big problem! There were times where I would take a bite of only bread and slaw and completely miss oysters. It’s unfortunate because I wanted to show my mom what a gem I had found, but that’s hard to do when you’re paying $ 14 for bread, slaw, and fries.
