This Fairfield Inn is located on the south side of Rochester, north of the New York State Thruway, and not far from the Genesee Expressway. The hotel is clean, comfy, and definitely no frills. As with all Marriott hotels, you can expect certain things like comfortable beds, spacious rooms, lots of power outlets for charging your devices, plenty of free toiletries in the bathroom, free hot breakfast in the morning, free WiFi, and a fitness center. Since this is one of Marriott’s low-cost hotel chains, it is also a no-frills kinda place. My Dad and I were there for a couple of nights during our road trip out to Western, NY, and we found this hotel to be a convenient place to stay on the outskirts of Rochester. We were very close to The Genesee Expressway which was perfect for my trips into town to meet with Kodak. We were also very close to the New York State Thruway, which worked out when we headed back east towards the Finger Lakes wineries on our way home. Even though the hotel has been there for a couple of years, the place still felt very clean and new. The first day that we stayed there, the housekeeping staff was coming around to each room to put brand-new pillows and comforters on the beds. The housekeeper said that they change them about once a year. SCORE!!! The fitness center was small, but the equipment was in good shape, and the whole place was very clean. Each morning there was a typical buffet breakfast with cereals, fresh fruit, hot eggs, bacon, and freshly-made sweet rolls down in the lobby. I’m not a huge breakfast eater, so this was perfect for me. No complaints about this hotel.

Start with the positive– mattress was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept at a hotel. It was new with a pillow top, unusual for Fairfield Inn. Now the bad– floors not vacuumed, TV not working, torn linens, stains on wallpaper, crappy coffee maker, old and worn bathroom, and front desk never answer the phone. Front desk was friendly and folding laundry — sheets and towels. Very odd … In need of major remodel. Will not return.

As a regular Marriott customer, I go to several Fairfield Inns and other Marriott hotels. This one caught my attention, there is no power in the bathroom unless I put in the room card key in the slot which is located a good distance from the bathroom. To turn on the power, we have to walk to the slot, put in the card and walk back to the bathroom. Be careful not to forget the card key when you leave the room or get locked out. Makes me feel I am in a foreign place. However, the staff are great the the room is clean and spiffy.

When I called for a reservation, receptionist was kind enough to tell me that they jacked the price up to $ 209 for the night because it is graduation weekend. Nice! I went elsewhere.

We’ve stayed here twice. Clean and comfortable, good sized rooms. On our most recent visit, they were unable to honor our reservation for a room with an accessible shower, which was disappointing. Any business can goof, it’s how they handle it that counts. They offered to find us an accessible room nearby, and comped our room when we decided to stay. We have family in the area and will undoubtedly be back. Excellent breakfast in the lobby. Coffee and tea available in lobby all day.

Nice hotel, it’s not far from RIT and about a 15min drive into Rochester. It’s clean, has a pool, exercise room with two treadmills, elliptical and free weights, free breakfast, free wireless but no business center. There is a free computer at the front desk for you to use and a printer available but it’s not meant for you to be there for long since everyone that walks through the door will accidentally be reading your email along with you. The wireless internet is pretty fast here. Most places I’ve stayed at(Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn) have bandwith issues where I can’t stream hulu, youtube or other«unmentionables», don’t have that problem here! Netflix away! Breakfast is the usual for a Fairfield Inn. The microwavable Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, self service waffle iron and(THISISMYFAVORITE) POPTARTS! Yeah, I take an extra pack for my pre-lunch snack. There are a couple of restaurants nearby if you’re hungry and a Tim Horton’s down the street, if you dislike complementary hotel coffee. Local Tip: Rochester has a famous dish called«The Garbage Plate»(sounds appetizing, I know) served at Nicki Tahou’s a couple miles north on Rt15. Go check it out.
