First off, I would have given this place 5 stars but personally, I’m not a big fan of waiting for my food, and because the chicken is so fresh that it’s made to order, you end up waiting around 30 minutes for it to come out. HOWEVER, the wait is indeed well worth it, especially if you go with friends who you can just talk to to pass the time. I ordered half spicy and half soy, and I would have to say that spicy is definitely my preference. It’s not too spicy to where you need to take a sip of water every bite, it’s really just a minute kick. I would say soy if more for those who aren’t a big fan of spice. The chicken itself was cooked to perfection– super duper crispy on the outside(due to being fried twice), and the meat on the inside is very moist and tender. All in all, this place isn’t somewhere I would be able to go to every week, as it truly is a lot of flavor to handle, but once a month is perfect.

I am very biased because I am used to Bonchon in Northern VA. What disappoints me the most here is their lower quality of meat. In NoVA, the portions are more generous and the quality of the meat is so much better. My favorite is to order wings and get half spicy and half soy. I love it when fried chicken places give extra radish, so keep that in mind folks! The kimchi slaw is not my favorite because I am not a fan of the mayo.

The dishes where you can actually get full are $ 13-$ 17. Not very memorable either. Charged me $ 2.00 for club soda(carbonated tap water. Smh

Takoyaki there is good. I think this is the only place you can get takoyaki in Richmond. The price is relatively high but no choice…

Yeeh, wings were cool. Place was some what clean. But, you can tell the wings came from frozen, covered in their house sauce. Most beers are on draft. They had no lemons for my beer. The chubby girl on the end feeding her face; who wither worked, owned or supervised the place had a stanky attitude towards the rest of the staff. Another customer asked about a football game, she was terrible when she said no… Price was not bad, but I won’t go again.

Oh Bön Chon. I’ve tried several Bön Chon locations in the Virginia/Maryland area, and this is a good one. It has a more ope, brighter, casual vibe which I appreciate, different from many of the ones up north. And the wings are delicious(soy garlic is my favorite, but spicy is good too). Crunchy on the outside and covered in scrumptious Asian-y sauce, addicting indeed!

Gotta call the DEA because I’m pretty sure there’s crack in the chicken. So addictive. The kids love the dumplings, I love the chicken lunches and the bibimbop. I’m pretty sure I could eat here every day.

We don’t have one local but its definitely worth traveling to dc or richmond to get this, always a good experience. Some locations menus vary. Which they would bring this is va beach we would eat it regularly. If you’re looking for something different to try, this is the place. The way my husband described the chicken, there’s a pocket of goodness between the chicken and the double fried skin. We can’t order hot anymore cause we are getting older and its to hot. Love that it comes with radishes.

Bonchon is the chain that doesn’t quite feel like a chain. Every restaurant does their spice a little differently, which I say from experience. I’ve dined at the Annandale, Chantilly(Franklin Farm Plaza), and Richmond locations and they’ve all had different crunchiness and spiciness. Overall, it’s great! I love the Broad St. location because the staff is pretty attentive. They seem to appear just when you need them. The restaurant has a variety of tables that can be moved around, so feel free to come by yourself or with a large group. I’ve seen one or two office ‘meetings’, so I’m sure it’ll be fine. The great thing is that the restaurant never gets too loud. Foodwise, I always recommend the chicken wings. I tried their strips once, and while they are good, the meat is often a little dry. Definitely prefer wings over strips. Pair the dish up with some of their fries! If you aren’t into spicy food, I wouldn’t get the spicy wings. I love, love, love spicy food, but their wings had me reaching for several cups of water each time. Other items I’ve tried are the takoyaki and bibimbap. The takoyaki is great if you have the acquired taste /smell of bonito. I know for people that haven’t tried it before, the fishy smell can be extremely overwhelming, but it’s really delicious and really hot(be careful!). The bibimbap was a little bare compared to other bibimbaps I’ve had, but I can’t say I’m a connoisseur. The Broad St. location has football day game specials, which includes rice bowls, wings + appetizers, and some less than $ 4 food deals for the less hungry. It’s a great bang for your buck. I can’t eat more than two-four pieces of chicken each time I go, so I usually end up splitting with a friend and it’s a great portion that way.

I was torn on this review, I would most probably have given them a 3.5 which I usually round down instead of up, but I feel like a 4 better represents this place than a 3. The Chicken Wings Pros: Quit frankly the crispiest chicken imaginable. Eating them for the first time is quit frankly an experience. They also come in two delicious flavors, spicy and garlic. And the spicy does indeed deliver in the spice department. Cons: The chicken on the inside of the fry is not particularly juicy or flavorful. The fry is so big and craggy that it causes a discrete space to develop between the skin and the meat and I think that might be giving the meat the ability to dry out somewhat. Also the use of the sauce is a little lite for my taste. I have grown to appreciate wings that, even while crispy, as sopping with a flavorful sauce. I suppose the conservative nature of the sauce application does allow one to more appreciate the taste of the chicken, but as I mentioned above the chicken itself is a tad bland. Okonomiyaki Pros: Totally and completely delicious and filling. Wonderful experience for your mouth. Cons: Bares little resemblance for the okonomiyaki I have had in Japan. The style would be most like an Osaka style okonomiyaki, but even then, Bonchon really has a greater focus on the batter than the noodles and cabbage, and fries the hell out of it. What you are left with is much crispier and more fried than any other okonomiyaki I have ever had, and quit a bit richer and greasier. Conclusion: This is defiantly a place to go, especially if you like wings. Most people including myself really like the wings, but the are definitely something different. If the okonomiyaki is any indication, all of the other dishes on the menu are delicious as well even if they might not be super traditional.

This is a good bonchon location Wings are good. Spicy isn’t as spicy as other locations. Wings don’t seem as greasy as other locations. Fries are great. Wish they would offer a smaller size Kimchi coleslaw here is better than other locations. Really good but not free with your meal I like bonchon but it never makes me feel good after. But this location is spot on

I really like this place! The service was excellent and the food was delicious! I ordered the Japchae which is a rice noodle dish with steak. It was amazing. The portions were big and it had lots of flavor. Everyone on here seems to rave about the chicken but I did not try it. After looking at the menu, it would be cheaper for me to come back during the week to get the lunch special that seemed like a good deal. I’ll update this once more when I try the chicken. :-)

First let me say I owe them another visit. I had the dumplings abd chicken Katsu. The Katsu was cool, I’d even say pretty good but the dumplings were awesome. If you like crisper dumplings with the sauce baked in, you’ll love these. There were Def other things on strangers’ tables that intend to try like the wings. Also, if you’re around for linch b they have good specials for $ 10 and below, including a bibimbap bowl.

Oh Bonchon. One of these days, I need to try something off your menu that is not delicious crispy chicken strips that make my mouth both happy and fire at the same time, but today is Not That Day. I mean, I eat copious quantities of pickled daikon too, but that doesn’t count. The food is reliably delicious at any of their locations I have attended, and available in large quantities for a reasonable price, which is good when feeding hungry gamers or other bottomless pits, like teenagers.

I came back to great portions, good food, quiet but lively atmosphere, and a clean restaurant. So perfect. Except the poor waiter didn’t do as good. a job as he could’ve. Our table was smaller than most tables in the place, it was up against the wall of cushy seats(which, I, of course, took over vs my friend). Being so small, the waiter should’ve paid more attention to clearing off the tables with whatever he could as soon as possible. Mid-way through our meal, we had an empty glass, two empty small plates, used napkins and empty straw casings on the table. And more food was slated to arrive from the kitchen. The waiter stopped by our table and didn’t take anything. I had to flag him down to ask for another refill on my drink. A very nice waiter, but didn’t do his job that night. I kept having to ask him to clear this or give me more of that. I felt I should have been the one who was tipped. At least split the tip with the waiter. The food was great, again, but the service wasn’t up to par. :(

My friends and I absolutely LOVE this place. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, even when we bring in a 20+ group of people! The prices are reasonable, but you can get a great deal on their lunch specials. The best thing here is their chicken, because is it is double fried. Yes, double. They have wings(bone-in), drumsticks, and tenders. You can get spicy or garlic flavor. Both are delicious! I haven’t had chicken quite like this, it is amazing! Definitely a place people need to check out!

What’s left to say about BonChon that hasn’t already been said? My goodness the food here is good. No wonder it has turned into such a successful chain. The soy garlic wings are almost indescribable. The breading and cooking process is a mystery to me. The flavor is on a whole other level. The calories though. Something that tastes this amazing cannot be good for you. Anybody who lives within 5 miles of this place is spoiled rotten! There is a wait on the wings but it is beyond worth it. After the September Elite Event: So Long Summer at Bonchon I knew I’d be coming back. My only complaint is that waitress took my Sprite and never returned it. It became somewhat of a joke with the people I was eating with. «Did you ever get that Sprite Tony?» In closing, they serve Crabbies ginger beer. Drop the mic. 5 stars.

REALLYGOODFRIEDCHICKEN! I am from Cali and we are health freaks! I normally do not eat the skin of the fried chicken because. well. it’s bad and that’s where all the fat is! My family and I drove all the way from Virginia Beach to grub on some Korean Fried Chicken. The drive was about an hour and a half so by the time we got there, we were starving. I figured the chicken must be really good so I figured to try and eat the whole chicken wing(skin and all). We ordered soy garlic wings and the hot wings. We also ordered beef fried rice. When the food came out, I tried the hot wings first. I’m thinking HOT and was cautious about putting these wings in my mouth. I thought it’d be like the mango habanero wings at Buffalo Wild Wings HOT so I was careful. My first nib and the heat was barely there. I took a bigger bite and realized the hour and a half drive was totally worth it. The chicken wing was not too greasy and was cooked perfectly for that crunch. The hot wings were good to me. It had the right amount of heat and sweetness to it. The soy garlic wings were also fantastic. It had a more subtle taste but it was just as tasty. I prefer the hot wings over the soy garlic wings. The beef fried rice was just okay to me. I’ve had better. If anything, I would’ve been happy w/plain white rice and chicken wings. I don’t recall a time when I have eaten that many fried chicken wings. Definitely worth the trip to get some artery cloggers!
