Pats Peak Ski Area & Banquet Center

This is a review for Monday, March 7, 2016.
I, along with my 78 year old mother and my 5 year old son, had a wonderful day at Pat’s Peak. We were coming off a so-​so experience the previous Friday at Crotched.
By buying tickets on Pat’s Peak web sight the night before, my mom and I each spent $ 30 for our full day tickets. Children 5 and under ski free at Pat’s Peak. This is a real value.
Conditions were superior to Crotched. The trails and lodge were uncrowded. The staff was kind and supportive to my 5 year old. And he thrived, having his best ski day ever, even skiing from the summit! Management and employees should be commended for catering to the customer. Bonus points for $ 10 sharpening which was quick and yielded good results when I went back out.

Pats Peak is a great family friendly area. It’s always clean and well cared for and everyone is so nice. I learned to ski at Pats Peak about 40 years ago and have now taught my grandson to ski there. It is a wonderful learn to ski mountain! Don’t think that because it is a smaller mountain, that the conditions won’t be just as good. They are great at snow making and grooming, too. We skied there on Saturday and the conditions were very good. Highly recommended!

Our first family snowboarding trip was fantastic, and Pats Peak and it’s staff made the experience truly amazing for my whole family. The family friendly atmosphere was apparent from the time we arrived with «Boris the Bear» and the greeters, throughout our visit with every staff member that we interacted with. Both of our kids (ages 5 & 8) took snowboarding lessons as first timers, and the Pats Peak instructors made it a great experience for our kids. A special big thanks to Papa Joe who went above and beyond to our whole family. We will definitely be back and recommend Pats Peak to families that want a great introduction to skiing/​snowboarding.

My novice skier son and I enjoy our visits to Pats Peak. The all-​inclusive POP tickets on Saturdays can’t be beat. There’s a good variety of runs, including two fun terrain parks, two beginner areas, lots of cruisers and a decent mogul run. Conditions, even late in the season, are reliable. They do an excellent job with snowmaking and grooming. The night lighting is balanced; no shadows to warp depth perception or hot spots to blind you. Pats opened a new area — Cascade Basin — two years ago.
Most of the staff I’ve encountered have been friendly and helpful.
The rental skis and poles are good. The boots suck. And they charge an extra $ 10 for well-​worn helmets. We’ve enoyed entertainment and decent food at The Sled pub.
Not so great:
— The lifts often seem to stop or slow A LOT. Maybe due to lots of kids and novices? We got stuck on the Blizzard lift in the Basin two years ago and sat there for 33 minutes; yes, I kept track. I thought about hang dropping. Mechanical breakdowns happen, but no one apologized, no less offered a discount on our next lift ticket.
— No lights in the Basin means a loss of about 40 percent of terrain at dark
— A week ago yesterday the Peak double was closed around 5 p.m., causing a long line at Hurricane. I asked an employee why and he said that they just weren’t busy enough to justify running it. The line at the Hurricane led me to believe otherwise.
— Tables in the smaller lodge were taken over by squatting families for the entire day. Not cool. Pats ought to enforce the share a table policy.
Pats is on the small side from vertical feet and terrain standpoints, but it’s still a really fun place to ski. Hardcore ski snobs may turn up their noses, but I’ll say that I was pretty hardcore, too; regularly (as in EVERY weekend) skiing Tahoe areas when I lived on the west coast and frequenting Killington and Sunday River just as regularly when I moved to Boston. Enjoy Pats for what it is: a classic, small-​scale ski operation with a beautiful location and fun terrain.

Today was the first experience at the Bar. The wings were amazing, highly recommended. But i guarantee I will never be visiting the bar again due to the disappointment in the unwelcoming staff members. Very unfriendly, and unpleasant to be serving customers. In particular, the bartender Kate had a ranging attitude.

My family of 7 recently visited Pat’s Peak for a fun day of tubing. It was our first time. It was great. The kids had a blast and went up and down for 1.5hours.
The staff however were extremely rude !! The young boy loading the tubes on the lift was very rude and acted like he’d rather be anywhere else but there. Even said in a joking manor I’m sure «next person that misses a J is being charged 100 dollars» I must have missed the humor in that one.
We make our way to the top of the hill and are figuring out what to do, as it was our first time. The young kid at the top of the hill was the rudest of them all. Was clearly annoyed we did not get out of our tubes in a timely fashion. Said «I can see you are beginners but you have to get off sooner» I apologized and got myself and my son out where he asked as best as we could.
He asked me 3 times why my 7 yr old first timer couldn’t go down alone and was pretty annoyed after I told him twice because «I don’t feel comfortable» and his response was «Ok, do what you want»
He also emphasized the need to drag our feet. That’s fine we had no problems abiding by the safety rules. He then stated «if I don’t see you dragging your feet, I’m taking your passes» not necessary.
My son and I were sent down lane one, tied together
(I felt much safer) and we’re going so fast we bounced into the red net. (Yikes) pretty scary. Our second ride up I was asked about hitting the red net and explained it absolutely was not intentional and was quite scary actually. The older woman’s response was «yeah it’s even funnier when you go up and over» I again must have missed the humor there also.
For the money spent and the lack of friendliness and welcoming given, even after knowing it was our first time was uncalled for and unfortunately I don’t think we will be returning. Not a way to treat customers.

This mountain would get a higher rate if the ticket procurement processes was optimized. Half day passes can not be purchased until the actual season begins which in result causes long lines, frustration, and eats into the actual ski time. Which is why wachusette, Sunday river, and okemo will continue to get the majority of my business.

We are new to the area and bought season passes to Pats Peak. What I love most about the mountain (other then the fact that they make snow daily) is the staff. From the parking lot employees to the lift operators of the magic carpet or chairlift they are all friendly and make an effort to say hi to my three year old and/​or ask me how we are doing. It may seem like a stretch but Pats Peak is like a mini Aspen without the attitude. Love this spot.

We brought the kids here to ski for the second time in early December. On the 4^th or 5^th run of the day my daughter got hit with a giant blob of grease from a chair on the lift, she was covered. We went right to the office where the kind and friendly staff took all her greasy things and insisted they would wash and return all the damaged things to me they then bagged them and then gave the girls hot chocolate tokens and a whole family set of passes for any day back at the mountain. My younger daughter and husband enjoyed a few more runs while my younger daughter and checked out the lodge. A few days later the ski jacket, pants and gloves came back in excellent condition along with a check to replace the snow pants which only had a tiny spot left on them. I think that the customer service following an unfortunate incident really went above and beyond and we look forward to visiting again this season!

Great local ski place for southern New Hampshire. Where the lines cross when measure quality of mountain vs length of travel for Nashua area. Crotchet mountain is s close second, but pats peaks amenities are more charming. When you factor in lines at the lift, pats peak is pretty attractive to the Boston/​northern mass suburbs; pats peak gets pretty attractive for these folks, too. But for now we’ll keep Pats Peak a New Hampshire secret

Ridiculous! I will never go here again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Especially the group lessons are a waste of time!
Firstly, there’s a same charge for beginners package from 8:30 AM– 4 PM and 1 PM — 4 PM, how does that make sense? Dumb!
Then, the group lessons (for which they charge $ 40 per person), our trainer wanted to train a group of 7 people in 1 hour. Either he must be an expert at teaching & skiing or a big waste of money & time because who gets paid so much in 1 hour ($ 40×7)?. Unfortunately, I don’t remember his name but this guy starts showing off what we can do in skiing rather than teaching the basics and after an hour he calls another guy (George) and splits up the group.
So, the new instructor George, starts off with basics, his teaching was a bit effective but his comments & advice sounded a bit racist to me. He either says «Indian“or «Chinese» or «Pakistani» in every comment. Am sorry for you pal, our teachers never taught us by making such comments. I felt these guys know how to skii but not to teach.
Actually, one instructor named ‘Pat’ taught one of us in the last few minutes and he did an excellent job. He was clear about the basics of skiing, motivating and has patience. I will recommend ‘Pat’ in case you still end up in this place.
Summary: some instructors here are good teachers and some are bad. I wouldn’t recommend this place for what they charge you.

I went in for Beginner’s lesson today at Pats peak. We were a group of 4, couple of my friends were starting from Level 0. I was about Level 2, I’ve had skiing class once before (my previous instructor was very nice indeed and gave individual attention). So, let me start with the first instructor, he took about 7 – 8 people in group and wasn’t giving much individual attention, wasn’t really explaining any technical details. just gave us a rough idea and asked us to just follow him. Again no real technique. After a while, the guy asked another instructor to take care of just 4 of us, and the new instructor took us to the side explaining us the basics. So far so good. Then after a while, couple of falls… we started getting a hang of it. We went up the hill for the first slope. The guy from then on just keeps on shouting — Wrong, wrong… and kept yelling at us — ‘do you know why you fell down?’. Which I think is still fine a couple of times. But he kept yelling the same thing and at some point, without actually telling us the technique to change the stance started yelling at my friend — «Are you dumb?, I can’t help if you’re DUMB’…which was waaaaayy over my head, I was completely pissed. I could’ve just hit him on his head with my stick, but I obviously knew better MANNERS than the guy. We paid them to teach us something, not to yell at us like some ill-​mannered uneducated bunch. I WILL NEVER EVER go back to this bunch who obviously have NO RESPECT/​dignity and treat the learners so rudely.

Went skiing here with a friend of mine. Everything was excellent at Pat’s Peak from the check in desk to rentals, to the lift operators and so on. Paid only $ 99 which included an all area lift ticket, rental skis, boots, and poles and a helmet. The entire ski area was very clean from the lifts to the trails, and to the lodges. In all, we had a fun time and would recommend Pat’s Peak to anything looking to go skiing in Southern New Hampshire.

First time skiing, it was an awesome mountain. I went with my little nephew and niece they learn fast. It’s more of a family mountain so if you trying to look for a party mountain not the place.

Best local ski area for families. Tickets prices are not to high and staff and atmosphere are what you think of when you want a fun day on the slopes.
Great parking. Good food and great conditions. Something for everyone including tubing and a terrain park

Pat’s Peak has become my favorite ski resort for many reasons.
Now I’d like to start out by saying, I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to skiing. I am ok with stopping and slowing down when I am going at slow to average speeds, but when the terrain becomes too step, I admit I panic a bit. PP is great because it has an array of trails that cater to novices such as myself. I love having longer green trails to cruise, and blues that make me feel bad-​ass, when I’m really not. It’s a smaller mountain, so experienced riders and skiers may not feel as challenged, but I am happy with having more to do than I get at the bigger and steeper mountains.
The resort itself is pretty nice, with a large lodge and a good snack bar. The staff seem nice and their is a good amount of storage space for bags and shoes. The resort is located pretty convenient to Concord and not a far drive from Boston. I am happy to have found PP and hope to check out their POP on Saturday night one of these days.

«This is a short mountain!» told me Eric the ski instructor. That is true. The only reason that this site gets just 4 stars is because it is a short mountain. Everything else is five stars and more. I put my kids in the bears club and the cubs club. They had loads of fun and got much better in a day than in a week in other places. The school was nice, the instructors were nice, the restaurant is good in american east coast standards. it is well priced and not to far away from Boston. I liked it.
If you are single and plan to ski, go to Kilington. If you are going with 3 kids come here.

Been here twice because of peer pressure. My friends pretty much dragged me here the first time and I am glad they did. Apparently they have a deals on Saturdays called «Pop» Ticket. Depending on what time you get there it’ll be a different price. Its $ 55 from 2pm-​10pm and $ 45 from 3pm-​10pm (Yes, night boarding is awesome), etc. The price includes lift tickets and the rentals which is by far the CHEAPEST deal I’ve seen. The ski/​snowboarding area is small size I would say. I actually like it because its not too crowded. There was several different mountains and slopes you can go to with different levels. There is aso tubbing which I’ve never tried but looks pretty fun. Most important, their food court sells this huge ass M&M cookies that are BOMB. Must get one when you’re there!

Granted, my review is skewed wildly by experience. A.) I wasnt at work, which is a 2 star bonus at least. B) You cant review the weather, but with 14″‘s of freshie and a 39 degree sun kissed day, it was hard to not love it.
It took me exactly 90 mins from Cambridge here, I parked directly in front of the base lodge, and as I had purchased my $ 25 (thats right, two fiver!) online, I was on the chair lift in fewer than 10 mins from arrival. Insane.
Tiny, no mega lodge or lifts, but plenty of glades, decent drop for a hill of its size/​location– close and seriously cheap (my rate was special, but still)
Snow was epic, and this little mom-​and-​pop shop of a mountain gave me a full day of lift-​lineless riding joy. Swoon.

We came last Saturday for Pat’s Peak 50^th Birthday celebration and were able to get $ 30 lift tickets. It’s a small mountain and only entertained us for a few hours but the Hurricane was a true black diamond, the Race Trail was fun (albeit a little icy) and Twister was more like a tough Blue, than a black. Cyclone and Tornado are really not what I would call a black diamond. This a great family mountain with plenty of terrain to learn on.
The reason for my five stars: the incredible staff. I brought some old hand-​me-​down skis to try and went to the ski shop to have the bindings adjusted. They were very kind and intelligent. When they told me they would have to remount the bindings, they offered me a rental instead– which I ended up taking. I went over to the rental area and there was plenty of staff to help me through the process and I was able to try a pair of 170s, freshly sharpened and waxed for the day. I had a great time with them.
Everyone seemed to be a in great mood and very helpful. Happy Birthday, Pat’s Peak. May you have another successful 50 years!
