Scott, the owner, who can help you figure out what you are in the mood for and then ring you up. You can pay by PayPal or just give him a CC number. I like calling because I can find out what has just been roasted and what they think is particularly good at the moment. I live in Atlanta, where we have plenty of specialty coffee, but I can always find a reason to order from Portside, especially because I know I’m getting small-​batch, fresh roasted beans from a business where I can talk directly to the guy who does the roasting.
As for their coffee, I’m a huge fan of their Ethiopian Sidamo, roasted somewhere in the light/​medium range so that you can still taste hints of the coffee fruit after brewing.

⁵⁄₅! Great coffee. The caffeine buzz is very clean and the roasts were delicious. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place, hoping to get just a decent cup of coffee for an okay price. We ended up getting absolutely delicious coffee, and were so ecstatic about the quality and price of the roasts, that we ended up becoming a coffee club member. Highly recommend this place to anyone who likes a great cup of coffee.

Portside Java is a terrific find. In an out of the way shopping center in the heart of Hendersonville, this little «coffee roasterie» is well worth looking for. Fresh roasted coffee beans, specialty roasts, custom roasts, with beans that are hand selected from around the world. Captain Howard, the owner and roaster, is knowledgeable about the beans and will lead you to the bean that will be the makings of the best cup of java you will ever have. There is a coffee club that allows you to purchase a pound of beans at a 12oz price that is a deal. You need to check it out!
