Its called an Indie Rock Festival. I had to explain to the GF what that was/meant and listening to some of the chatter around us many were confused with alt and indie rock. The festival hit Indie on the head and the music was young but exactly what I expected. This was my first festival here in Vegas but Ive been to about ten total. It was very clean and wholesome. I know Im in my 30S but I only saw one«druggie» and when she approached me and I said no she respected that and kept her distance for the rest of the day. The Pavilion was laid out nice. The sound once working(took about 3 hours and ruined a few performances) was great. The bright yellow clad security were everywhere and they ensured it was a safe environment for all age groups. I wish I had seen more acts but here is a review of the ones I did see: The Black Kennedy’s had some of the worst tech problems but the lead singer played them off well and made a bad situation good. His vocals were impressive for a man of his size/stature You’d expect to see him in an Opera house not belting out rock. He reminded me a little of Meatloaf in a good way. Cheating Daylight. I swore they skipped Jr High to spend time here and after a great performance. Good vocals, stage presence and crowd interaction I saw one of the parents afterwards who confirmed that only one was in High School and the youngest was 13. I predict these kids will do well playing together for years to come. Series Six was a death medal rock band that had the look. Vocals were a little weak(Age) but a good performance. PAR A DIGM is my pick for best band. This was an all black rock group that mixed modern soul with metal and nailed everything. I wish they had more than 20mins as a few more songs would have been welcome. Earth Rising was a local band those songs all sounded the same. It was a peace & love band that belonged in the 60s. Diamanté had a lead singer who reminded me of Pat Benatar look and she was doing one of her songs so it may not be a normal look for her and all they did was covers. It would have been nice to hear something original. Dead of Center was awesome! They were the only competition for Par-A-Digm as being best in show! The LV School of Rock was a group of local singers who were taking Rock lessons. You could tell they were nervous and most likely the first time permorming on stage for a large audience but to be fair The vocals were weak but if they keep practicing they will all make it big. Their Band played great for all the singers. Bad Urba had bad Vocals but a kick butt Drummer. at this point I would have liked to mix and match a group from various bands I saw today and make a super group but I digress. Olio was a funk rock band from L.A. and they had a great heavy sound and played to the crowd well. After they were done I was feeling good but my GF wanted to go so I missed the rest of the shows but If they continued to get better like they were for the past hour or two the headliner must have tore it up.
