The Art Institute of Las Vegas

For the amount they charge its a waste. They don’t place you in good career paths, I am a fashion graduate and all they tell me about is Target jobs or internships. Overall I would consider other outlets for fashion education over the art institute. I got my degree but I am so far in debt its ridiculous, the school calls me every week asking about payments. The culinary program seems to get the best job opportunities and schooling overall.

Absolute WASTE OF MONEY, if you’re interested in the PHOTOGRAPHY program.
Photography is their weakest program and their least concern.
The staff is all GREAT, but it’s NOT the place to learn Photography, ESPECIALLY for the amount of money they charge.

we visited here at the art institute for fashion and culinary. They offered us water. they took me in early. I was in a slight rush because of family member. I wanted more questions but couldnt think of everything. the building is so small and i wish the tuition wasnt so costly. I would love to attend this school but im afraid for the rest of my life.

$ 75,000 for a degree in photography? FML

This is a great school; however, it’s not for everyone. I suggest researching and actually checking out the school before doing anything serious. I love it, even though it can get hectic sometimes. Teacher’s really know what they’re talking about. Also, you lose a lot of sleep. Lol.
The only negative thing is the scheduling. I can never get a schedule that really works for me because either classes are full, or certain classes aren’t available at the time I want. Other than that, it’s cool! ^_^

I got my bachelors degree here. And I really believe the art institute gives a superior education the teachers for the most part are wonderful instructors. Art institute required their instructors to have masters degrees or I believe they pay their instructors to continue on to obtain the masters degree. For the most part I felt I got a better education then I would have at UNLV or a community college.
It is really expensive and the job placement after college is a farce. Career services tries but it’s a joke because there really isn’t much out there for jobs right now anyhow. If you come into the school don’t count on getting a ton of help after college in finding a job, they kind of bamboozled many students into feeling more secure then they where post graduation. Considering this tuition there is entirely too much, you’re paying around 90 or so dollars per hour of class if you break it down. A degree in design could be considered optional anyhow so my advice if you can’t afford the tuition this isn’t the college for you.
But the school is really improving every year. The comment below about the credits is true… because Ai is a private college it’s not accredited so transferring is very difficult. Some credits will transfer– it just depends on the school you transfer to and what their willing to accept. Wonderful school otherwise and amazing instructors and state of the art computer, video/​audio labs.

It’s worth another try, but my first visit to the Art Institute for lunch didn’t really come through with flying colors.
First, the good. $ 9.99 for a 3-​course gourmet lunch that includes a glass of champagne! That price and the temptation of a good meal will bring me back for another try.
The champagne was a nice Prosecco. A little bit sweet, but not cloying.
The salad was refreshing with bits of blue cheese and the perfect amount of dressing. Though it seemed the salad had sat in the fridge before being served.
When the main course came, nearly everyone ended up with something they didn’t order. Apparently, all of the wait staff are actually training to be chefs. Given their complete inability to get the right food to the right person or to get the right check to the right person, sticking with cooking is probably wise. I’d think there’d be some need in this city for a place that trains quality wait staff. But apparently not here.
I ordered a salmon with fennel and what sounded like a fancy sauce. The salmon was cold. The salmon was dry. The potato patty at the bottom was flavorless and tasted like it may have started its life out from a box. Layers of vegetables, were on top of the potato and under the salmon. I poked around. Ate a bit. But was seriously underwhelmed. My table mates that got chicken curry seemed to like their food.
Dessert was supposed to be a panna but tasted more like a custard. It was edible but nothing overwhelmingly delicious.
The plating was creative and lovely. Atmosphere is also attractive. But service was disorganized and the food quality just didn’t hit too many right notes.
But $ 9.99?! It’s certainly worth another shot.
Reservations are mandatory. And I think the restaurant is only Tues-​thurs but double check that.

The Art Institute of Las Vegas was a pretty nice place and until the culinary division of the school was changed to the Culinary Institute of Las Vegas… I didn’t mind it.
