A sweet café staffed by sweet employees in the back of a sweet, small town department store. An experience so sweet I want to make a weekend trip to Henderson to see if the rest of the city is this precious. We both got our own versions of the Half & Half — me with the club and fruit salad and him with the Carol and a bowl of soup. For the first time in my life, I put a piece of honeydew melon into my mouth and didn’t immediately regret what I’d just done. That fruit cup was absolutely flawless. All the fruit was obviously picked and sliced at the peak of ripeness, and it somehow overshadowed what was actually a very delicious sandwich on obviously fresh bread. But that fruit cup, man. It’s been a month and I’m still wondering where they got that honeydew. Also, the lemon squares. Just trust me and get one. It’s a perfect lemon square.

The small café/bakery is just big enough to be quaint and charming, the lunch sandwiches are fresh and very well made on the homemade fresh bread. my favorite so far is the sweet bread, the ladies are exceptionally nice and the desserts are awesome. I am not a fan of sweets but the cupcakes are good enough to go back for two. The lemon bars are very good, not tart and not overly sweet with a flaky crust, I would recommend the brownies though. I am slowly working through the entire menu(yes that good!!) and love the fruit cups with the fresh cut fruit.

This café/bakery is located in the Heritage building on the square in downtown Henderson and, while it is a perfect local for a «girl’s day out», the portions are more than adequate for guys who are«tough enough». First and foremost I want to say, «They have the BEST(yes I’m screaming BEST) lemon bars on earth! Lovely thin, flaky crust with delightfully lemony filling that isn’t so tart as to make you pucker and topped with a generous dusting of powdered sugar. Serving is generous as well — a nice 2.5» x 2.5″ piece. Strawberry muffin/cup cake was also delicious and the huge brownies were quite a temptation, but the lemon bars are phenomenal! I loved their ½ sandwich and soup combo. Albacore tuna salad with just the right amount of dressing topped with lettuce and tomato(fresh tomato) on wheat berry toast with a handful of chips and a pickle spear alongside a cup of tomato basil soup. The soup was a well seasoned broth that appeared to be made from fresh tomatoes — not too thick but sooooo flavorful. My dining companion enjoyed a generous chef salad with wonderful homemade Dijon mustard dressing(i.e. honey mustard, but better) and homemade croutons. I stole some of the croutons for my soup — great combination. Oh, and did I mention the LEMONBARS??? Yes, I guess I did. Give Nook a try for lunch. Our server said they are open Monday through Friday for lunch but the sign in the window indicated they are closed on Mondays.
