Dr. Kooyman has exceede«thered my expectations as a doctor. When my foot refused to get better with conventional treatments with a steroid dose pack and bedrest. I found that I could no longer continue waiting for my foot to just get better and opted to have surgery, and fortunately for me Dr. Kooyman agreed with this option and also discussed for future health of my foot options that I can take to make sure that other issues with my foot will be minute. Dr. Kooyman scheduled my surgery, and I have to say he is one of the most thorough physicians and wastes no time in telling you what will happen and what to expect with your foot. Don’t get me wrong, he is a perfectionist… and he expects that if he does surgery that you will follow his instructions post op to the«t». He didn’t even look at me weird when I asked him to please tell me what I would expect when they unwrapped the bandages from my surgery. I think he understood that the visual for me probably would not be a familiar or comfortable one. So he explained in detail what my incisions would look like and where they would be placed. Granted I am 7 days out of surgery at this point . Yes I am still in pain. .but this is a different kind of pain. This is the pain that says your foot is healing and your doctor is amazing! I am so grateful he did not do like other doctors here in Las Vegas and pat me on the head and hand me a prescription for pain pills and say«there that should feel better sometime… but you will have to see your primary care for refills» His office staff is AWESOME. I had some issues after my first post op visit yesterday where he had to reposition my foot, I hesitated calling because I don’t want to be one of THOSE kinds of patients, but I let them know that me and my frankenfoot(that is the new name for my left foot) were having some issues and were concerned . They called my doctor and called me back right away … That is true service. Thank you to Dr. Kooyman, Jane, Krystal and Veronica … for all of your help … I am really very grateful and so is frankenfoot :)
