Food was great. Portions were really big. If I was a local, I would definitely come back here. I had their«typical plate» and everything was good.

Best empanadas in town! And the salmon a la parrilla is the best! You never go wrong with that, sangria is pretty good, service is kind of slow but who cares when you have good food at the table, and I am surprise that they regular margaritas are pretty good and strong!

Three stars because the empanadas were okay and that’s all I ate from there. Their customer service is horrible though. It’s clear the ONE girl at the front is overwhelmed by phone calls & people coming in. It took around 25 minutes for me to get the empanadas. I can understand«freshness» but they don’t take that long to cook.

My favorite Latin place to eat. There usually is a line to be seated on Sunday’s but I don’t even care about the wait. The place is so worth it. They prices are more than great for the amount of food! I love everything on the menu. You literally leave so full. They have columbian sodas which are the best. Parking is easily accessible and wait staff is quick.

Thoroughly unpleasant experience. The food does not taste like authentic Colombian food. It tastes like authentic oil grease. The service is bad, and the servers seem to occupy themselves with doing everything but attending to their tables. Not to mention, my mother and I got upset stomachs shortly after. You decide!

This place claims to have the«Best Colombian Food on Long Island,» and honestly, they might be right. This spot lives up to the hype. Located in Hempstead, not the nicest towns, it’s not a place you would think to go to, however if you do you’ll be happy you did. It also has locations in Suffolk County in Brentwood and Patchogue, but I have never been to those. It is the epitome of the 3 most important things to me while dining out, fair prices, good portion and most importantly… tastes great. It has all these things. It has a plethora of meat and seafood dishes. Everything comes with rice and beans or French fries and their sangria is amazing. I’ve dined here with 4 people and ordered entrees and drinks and only paid 40 something dollars. We had fish, breaded chicken, rice and beans, French fries and sangria. You can’t beat that for the price. Check this spot out, you won’t regret it.

Little bit of food for the amount of money they charge. Swapping a item from a dish allows them to give you less of another. I swapped my rice for tostones. They gave me two tostones and charged me the price of the full meal. I called in to discuss the mix up they kept me on hold a good 15−20mins and then told me that was standard when switching item off the menu. You might as well not swap anything from any of there dishes. The wait time is not bad at the restaurant but the staff should learn how to better inform customers. On the dishes. Prior to switching my order to I had asked the waitress if the order was enough for two and she said yes. After arriving home I realized it was not but the distance to the restaurant was to far to obtain a second order so I had to improvise.

Go for breakfast! Eggs, steak or sausage, rice and beans, corn cake, hot chocolate(the real deal)… Out of this world! It is a lot of food. It will carry you through lunch. We also ordered some empanadas. Talk about good! Friendly staff:)

I stop here during lunch last Thursday. I’ve been wanting Colombian food for a while now and found this on Unilocal.I must say the moment I walked in I was greeted nicely but the reason I’m giving this a 3 star and not 4 is because the unfriendly waitress. I was a party of one I ordered the Sangria she ask for ID which is her part of her job I understood then rolled her eyes as she gives me back my ID. I went on to order and not once did she come by and ask how’s the food is everything ok? I was a waitress before I thought that’s what they’re supposed to do. Instead she had other tables near went on to ask them if everything was ok and skipped me. The bus boy(who I tipped nicely) ended up coming to me and ask if everything was ok, wrap up my food and got me the check(the waitress still never came by) I’m not sure if it’s because she was 8 months pregnant or what but she seemed nice to all her tables but me. Now on to the food I ordered the special rice, bean sauce, pork skin, steak, eggs & avocado everything was good except for the steak it was over cooked and had no flavor. The sangria was delicious ! I would go back but because of the service I received I’m hesitant to try this place again.

I’m not sure what these raving reviews are about, because my experience at Mi Tierrita was two stars, at best. Firstly, the consumer should be made aware that the empanadas are made of yuca, instead of corn flour, as yuca is not the standard flour used to make empanadas. When I asked the waitress if the orange colored patty in my hand was made of yuca, she seemed uninterested, and said«yeah, I think so.» You should probably have some basic knowledge of what ingredients are in the food you serve daily. Second, I ordered a glass of sangria and she asked if I would like Hennessy in it as well. Um… no? Just no. For my meal, I went with the bandeja tipica.(Rice, beans, grilled steak, and pork rind.) Terrible is all I can say. The rice was undercooked, the beans were hard, the pork rind had no taste what so ever, and the grilled steak tasted as if it were seasoned in stale oregano for days. My mom ordered the Arroz con Pollo, which came with French fries(random) and a soup. The rice was also a very bright orange color, and so salty that she couldn’t even eat it. Clearly, someone in that kitchen loves to over season. I will not be returning here, and would definitely not recommend to anyone I know. Mi Tierrita gets 2 stars for having a parking lot, and for the friendly hostess.

Amazing food! Had a steak that was sooo good! The rice and beans are especially tasty. The empanadas were not the way I normally have them, but they were really good and full of meat. I def recommend coming here if your in the mood for Columbian food.

Came here for dinner with my family and i had a great experience. I came here on a Tuesday night so it wasn’t too crowded and not too empty. I had the bandeja de pollo al carbon which was so good! Its just a bargain! It comes with soup, salad, chicken, rice and beans. Its to die for! My father ordered the chicken consome which is great. My sister ordered the pechuga de pollo(breaded). It came with a great tartar sauce which was so amazing. I would recommend this place. Its better than the pollos mario down the block.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times and was never disappointed. Sometimes you have a great wait as the portions are huge for the price. I ordered a while fried red snapper, which came with rice and beans, salad and a couple of other sides and it was $ 20. I definitely had food for next day leftovers. The grilled skirt steak, rice and beans, etc… was around $ 14 and tasted wonderful. The steak wasn’t dried out or anything. I’m not too familiar with arepas, so the corn cake was dull and tasteless to me. Other than that I’m a fan of the food. The waitstaff were friendly, the décor was ok/good. Tvs mounted to watch mainly soccer and such. Overall I’d dine there again. Another reviewer mentioned the location and yes, it’s in Hempstead LI.

Only had the Bandeja(Typical Platter) and it is some of the best Colombian food I have eaten in a long time. This is coming from a Colombian who has been eating at Colombian restaurants all his life. The steak was seasoned to perfection and not overcooked, the rice was just right, which means not bland, I will definitely come back and try other things. PS A packed parking lot is a good sign of good food
