I always struggle to find restaurants in Montana with good vegetarian options, but the Mediterranean Grill is the exception to the rule! I had a salty and savory lentil vegan soup that even my carnivorous family enjoyed. As an entrée, I chose the Imam Bayildi(a stuffed eggplant dish). I typically don’t like eggplant unless it is fried and smothered in cheese, but the Imam Bayildi was delicious! The restaurant also has a fabulous wine selection and a staff that knows their wine. I knocked a star because the service was a bit slow and my mom complained about her lamb kabobs being a bit dry.

I’m so torn on whether to give this place a 1 or 2. Maybe 2 because the food was good and quirky fun waitress. However, when we made our decision on lunch we were told they were out of specials, of course I was a bit disappointed. The list didn’t stop there though! She prefaced with, let’s get the disappointment quickly over with. she read a list of things that ran out. About 5 things. So I ordered lentil soup and Egyptian chicken. Both were good, but took forever to come out. As I was eating I overheard another waitress add to the list of run out items. I counted about 9 or maybe 10. Then after the table placed their order, she came back out and added one more to the list. Naturally I was peeved that this place basically had no Mediterranean food on an already small menu. How… HOW do you run out of salad??? And pasta!!! And ¾ of your menu. That’s embarrassing and I hope its not an often thing.

great atmosphere. Wonderful service. Wine was wonderful and I’m glad I took the staff’s recommendation on which to choose. We enjoyed our antipasta appetizer very much.

There are few words to describe how impressed I am with this restaurant. I am a very picky«food snob» who is very well traveled. Not only would the food be amazing for those who have not experienced Greece, but WOW for those who long to revisit the tastes of the Mediterranean. Well done! Words can not express my joy & delight right now!

This place always has good food. We almost always order right from the daily specials and have never been dissapointed! The manager comes around everytime we eat here to ask us about our meal and even share some funny stories. We always enjoy our time here. We take baklava home every time to enjoy in the morning with our coffee!

The food was awesome and the service was great. There are weird street lights indoors, mostly just being in the way, but overall the ambiance was really nice. You can order small plates or entrees. They have a huge wine list and a few beers. I would definitely go back.

Extremely disappointed. We ordered baked rigatoni and bolognese lasagna. The rigatoni was swimming in a flavorless, thick, pasty white sauce; the lasagna with a red sauce tasting of canned tomato paste and chunks of flavorless ground beef; both covered with gooey, lackluster cheese. Our soup, a seafood chowder, was more mediocre than Campbell’s. No «Buon appetito» for this Italiana! On a good note, our server was very nice.

I don’t make it in here as much as I’d like to but WOW is their food amazing! I’ve never been to the Mediterranean but this is how I imagine Mediterranean cuisine tastes.

It’s in the heart of Helena. Amazing restaurant with authentic delicious food. I had the baked rigatoni and if you’re a cheese lover like myself you’ll def enjoy it. Order the baklava for dessert and prepare your taste buds for a foodgasm Must try !

Yum. That’s all that needs to be said, however Unilocal says my review is too short. So… eat here great steaks!

In a town such as Helena you have to really be on top of your game when it comes to local business. I’ve given the Mediterranean Grill a few tries. Always the same experience. Is the food ok? Sure. Is the service ok? Sure. Today for lunch three of us ordered the spinach salad, only to be told they were out of prosciutto. The grocery store is a few blocks down the road. Also, out of about ten other key ingredients. Any chance of substitutions? Nope. Service times were over 30 minutes after ordering. I think I’ve illustrated the point. I will not be returning. Back to the staples. The ones that always perform in Helena. Probably why they are always busy, always consistent, and why they have been around forever.

Great little place, minus a star because the food came out very slow. My boyfriend and I met for lunch, and he was pressed for time. He only had about an 1hr &10 min, so make sure you have time! The chef did come over and apologize for it taking so long, that was nice! We shared an appetizer called«Spinakopita» which was very tasty. He ordered a Gyro, & I had the«Egyptian chicken Sandwich» I never got to taste his gyro because he had it boxed and had to leave, but the Egyptian chicken was very good, but nothing to write home about. Our waitress seemed a little frazzled though. Nice girl. Pretty good food, okay service– just the wait time is a little off-putting. But hey– at least it’s fresh!

Stop in for a Greek Salad with Chicken for dinner while in Helena for business. The Sous Chef comes over to help me(I guess the hostess was busy). I tell her what I want, and she gives me the detail of how she makes it… I’m in! I have a seat at their«kitchen bar» and have a drink and talk with her… If the food is half as good as the conversation it’s going to be great! Sous Chef’s from Rochester, NY, and gives me insight on what it’s like to live there. She never breaks stride while assembling my to go order. I drink/pay and go when it’s ready. Back to the hotel and chow down… It’s fantastic! Along with the fresh bread, my evening is made(now another hour or so of admin!)

Being a chef myself I expected better from the looks of their menu. Everything was under spiced. The only good part was the salad. I had the Chicken Alfredo, it was very watery as if they were trying to cut corners and used water instead of cream and definitely barely any parmesan in it. A friend got the potatoe soup and it was had very little flavor. All in all nice looking place, but for the price and the service I got was I would suggest tread lightly.

Excellent restaurant offering fresh food and great value. Ordered the special, which included a tasty full-size gyro sandwich, creamy bowl of fresh seafood chowder, and side salad, all for $ 11.95. We also tried the tapenade plate, which was a hit at the table as well. This restaurant is also very family-friendly. Our friendly server saw that we had a wiggly toddler to contend with, so she offered to bring the soup out with the appetizer and then gave us the check almost immediately after we had eaten so we could be on our way. Highly recommended and would definitely come again.

Traveling to and through Helena for work while at the same time taking as man of the sites and cuisine via Unilocal as much as possible. Seeing that the Med Grill currently only had 3 ½ stars and also that they had a fairly large menu I was slightly skeptical. We went there any way. Our main server„ was perfect. tentative and courteous. We started with the muhamarra appetizer. If you are a fan of hummus this is similar but much more flavorful. We reside on the California coast and for some reason each ordered a fish or sea food dish. Two Seafood Fettuccinis and a Tuna with Romesco Sauce. Personally, one of the best or better Seafood Fettuccini I’ve had. Clean, fresh and flavorful. House salad was also simple and fresh. Had a taste of the tuna with romesco. Yeah, excellent as well. Go here. My guess is that you will be pleased. I certainly was.

Cute little spot in Helena, Montana, which is a town you should try to visit. We were on a quick drive through to Yellowstone from Seattle, and only had time for a leisurely lunch, but we loved this gold rush town with its domed state capital and its brownstone downtown, complete with a mix of Victorian and Edwardian wooden homes and mansions stretching out around the downtown. We were seated outside on a sunny summer afternoon, and although service was on the leisurely side considering this was a quick detour from our roadtrip, we were greeted by friendly staff and waited on by the owner, who worked hard to accommodate our requests and make the experience a nice one for our small family. We ordered lamb kabobs(small sizing on this item), a salmon salad, a kids plate and some great summer Kolsch on tap. The salmon on our salad was perfectly done –a nice piece of fish, not overcooked, very moist. We enjoyed a nice, slow meal outside on the patio at Mediterranean Grill, along with a busy group of Helena locals, and appreciated the hospitable host who told us he found a home here, becoming a Helena resident twenty years ago. I can see the appeal of this quaint state capital, which reminded me of my native San Francisco and its wood Victorians alongside adopted Seattle, with its Ballard brown brick business district.

We stumbled upon the Mediterranean Grill when were driving through Helena. It’s a really cute place! The food was pretty good! We had the Rigatoni and Fettuccini Alfredo. We had a Turkish dish for desert. The desert, especially, was surprisingly good! The service was also good. The woman at the table behind us didn’t like the lasagna(I kind of got felt like they were just trying to get a free meal), but he owner himself came and took care of it. He didn’t charge them for the meal and seemed to really understand customer service. Our biggest complaint with the service was that they never refilled our water. The place was really cute. The interior is amazing! The painting on the inside and the architecture was amazing! I really appreciated that they made it feel like we were in Greece!

Had a really nice dinner here last night visiting town on business. Business colleague and I found the place on Unilocal and gave it a shot. Have to agree with the good reviews. We split the appetizer sampler of hummus, bisara and muhamarra, all of which were excellent. I had lentil soup and he a salad. Soup was great. I has the tuna with romesco sauce. Was very good. For dessert I had the Kunefe. Never heard of it even before but I loved it. Very nice meal and attentive service too.
