What a wonderful place. No wonder it’s packed! Beautiful gardens and vineyards. Goats too! The staff is awesome! It may have been packed, but the staff kept composure and provided a great experience. The wines were awesome. They honored the check-in offer for a tasting, and they let me tried whatever I’d like. They even had some wines that weren’t for sale that we could try. Many of the people there order cases of the wine and belong to their wine club. They treated us all excellently, member or not! We bought a couple of bottles and had a picnic, and there were beautiful red adirondack chairs available for us to sit and relax. They also had free hot dogs and a musician. A beautiful experience on a beautiful day!

Man, this place has it figured out. It’s inviting, comfortable, relaxing, and the wines are pretty good to boot – making the whole package pretty appealing. We were welcomed as we walked in and because all of us in the group of 3 worked in the wine industry they comped our tasting. The folks behind the bar prove that you don’t have to be young and in your 20’s to work a tasting room – they were seasoned professionals and fantastic. Being unseasonably warm, we decided to buy a bottle of wine and head out to adirondack chairs that were by the creek. What a setting! A nice trail takes you out to the creek bank where the steelhead happened to me spawning this time of year. Perfect was the only word I can use to describe this whole thing. We sat in the chairs, chatted, enjoyed the wine and setting and just realized how lucky we were to call this area home! It’s easy to see why this spot is such a hit and why their wine club draws lots of folks.

If you’re not happy with your visit here, that’s on you. It has gorgeous views, plenty of seating including adirondack chairs by the river, and a very generous tasting policy. The atmosphere is laid back and fun without being too rowdy; just a great place to relax and enjoy yourself. Based on the size of the estate, I’d give yourself a bit more time here than you’d plan for with other wineries so you can explore.

Fabulous in every way! The grounds are stunning. There are animals wandering around and a river you can walk down to. The wines were all tasty and the lady(feeling bad I don’t know her name) pouring was so sweet and informative and the overall awesomeness of this place made it my favorite winery. It’s a must see if you’re in the area.

What a great Dry Creek Valley winery to start our day with! We were treated well by the knowledgeable hostess. She knew her wines and AVA’s! Wonderful Zinfandel’s. Bring some cheese and a baguette to enjoy with one of their wines in their beautiful setting near the river! They have lots of outdoor seating!

Full disclosure: I’m a wine club member here and have been for at least a year. I have never had a bad wine or experience here. Truett Hurst specializes in Zinfandel, but it also has a sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, gewürztraminer, rose, petit syrah, cabernet sauvignon, a couple pinot noirs, and some blends. If you don’t like zins, this is not the winery for you. Then again, all of Dry Creek will likely disappoint because this is zin country. The wine club is worth joining if you like the wines here. If you’re a member, you can reserve a seat or two in some lovely red lounge chairs by the Dry Creek. Wine club member events take place a couple times a year and are immensely fun. My father loves the chardonnay, and it is my favorite white wine here. It’s nicely oaked, but still has nice apple and butter notes. The other whites are decent, but I would rather drink something else. In full disclosure, I’m generally not a fan of sauvignon blanc or gewürztraminer. I come here for the reds. My favorites are the black sheep pinot noir, the Luci zinfindel, the burning man petite sirah, and the osprey cabernet sauvignon. The black sheep is light on the tannins and some spice and blueberry and blackberry notes. The Luci is jammy with raspberry and strawberry notes. The burning man is spicy, peppery, with blackberry. The osprey had some floral notes(violet), cherry, and pepper. All are a little heavy on the alcohol like most California wines. Those who favor more mineral and earthy notes with a lower alcohol content would not like these fruit forward and stronger wines. Me? I’ll be back for more.

My least favorite of my two day tour. Very young crowd(21 – 25?), loud, no elbow room, pretentious without grounds. Did like the guy singing though.

I hesitate to write such a positive review because I don’t want the word to get out to too many people about how incredible Truett Hurst is. Too late anyway… Truett has seen a rapid growth in popularity over the last 3 years, and the tasting room, and seats by the Russian River are getting pretty crowded. Nonetheless, Truett will forever be far and away my favorite winery. I believe drinking wine is an experience beyond just its taste. Taste and the overall experience is enhanced by the people you drink the wine with, the surroundings you drink it in, and your knowledge of the wine’s history and how it is made. Truett gets an A+ in all of these areas. If you want a big Cab, and to pay a lot for it, by all means go to Napa, but if you want fairly priced, excellent tasting Zin’s and Pinot Noir’s served by nicest tasting room staff you will find, and in a beautiful setting then Truett Hurst should be your first stop. I’m not a white drinker but their Chardonnay’s are quite good as well. They have a beautiful patio with picnic tables. By a bottle or two and bring a picnic. They sell some crackers, cheese, salami there, but also don’t discourage you from bringing your own picnic like some other wineries. They also have adirondack chairs by the Russian River. My absolute heaven is taking a bottle of Truett Hurst White Horse Pinot Noir down to the river and listening to the water and watching Salmon jump. And last but certainly not least, the owners and staff are incredible. They will pour you wine if you just want to throw some back or they will gladly talk to you about each wine and the wine making process. Truett is not like so many other wineries where it feels like they just want to shuttle you through and take your money. It feels like a home away from home. Frank and Bob have both been standouts and have poured for me many times, but literally everyone there makes you feel welcome.

My husband and I have visited Truett Hurst a few times during our trips to Healdsburg, and we’re not sure which is better — the wine or the views. Grab a glass of wine at the tasting counter and head toward the creek to watch for salmon in one of their signature red Adirondack chairs. They even sell meats and cheeses to make your own picnic. We enjoyed a little visit with the sheep and goats toward the front of the property on our way out — they are too cute to miss!

Charming winery with beautiful views! Livestock and a creek with salmon on site. Plenty of seating outside on the patio. Delicious wine. The Black Sheep Pinot is great. Friendly service.

We were referred here by folks we met at our hotel and we are glad we made this our Anderson Valley stop. Casual vibe, tasty wine, organic gardens to stroll, music trio in the winery and best of all, the trademark adirondack chairs. They are grouped a short walk from the winery by Dry Creek(which is not dry, at least right now). Comfortable and unique, we enjoyed relaxing there and chatting with a couple already in a grouping which they readily shared. We will be back!

Wines were great, but the grounds were the hook. Gorgeous gardens lead down to Dry Creek. Take a stroll to pet the goats & sheep, & smooch with your honey under an arbor, or just relax in the shade. Only $ 5 to taste, officially up to 6 wines.

I liked the outdoor seating area at this Sonoma County winery. I didn’t fall in love with any of the wines, but they have a really great back patio option to sit and enjoy your tastings. You can walk out further to see their garden, some animals, and there are even seats by the creek which is really relaxing. The staff was friendly and talkative. I was referred here by another winery so I was able to get my tastings for free. They let you taste 6 wines, which is pretty generous. They also sell cheese, crackers, deli meat so you can have your picnic lunch. You can also bring your own food. So, although I didn’t love the wines, I was still going to drink them and sit outside and enjoy the environment. It’s a nice stop in the middle of your wine tours to relax. Lots of people are coming here for that outdoor area so come and check what all the buzz is about.

Fun to be had by all here! Beautiful location along the creek, friendly staff, live music(at least the day we went), great picnic spots, and all your animal friends! Oh yeah, and wine! Very friendly staff who offered great snacks while we tasted, AND check in for FREE tasting! One of my favorite wineries I’ve been to in the area and definitely worth your time to stop by!

Fantastic stop on a Dry Creek wine tour. This place is super relaxing and fun. The people were friendly and generous. They refund your tasting fee with a bottle purchase. They open at 10 am! You can get wine by the glass to enjoy on their grounds. They have a variety of snacks to buy such a cheeses, meats, even smoked salmon. They have a huge patio to hang out on, it is so relaxing, you can smell lemon and lavender in the air. I heard they have live music on weekends on this patio where they can have upwards of 300 people come, sounds really fun! They have a little farm right on the property with farm animals. Or you take a short walk down to the creek and enjoy a glass of wine on a Adirondack chair. Check in on Unilocal and get a free tasting and discount on a bottle!!! Overall this is a place I will recommend to people who are visiting the area for a relaxing, laid back and fun experience.

This is my favorite winery. It is the one winery I send all my friends and out of towner’s. The wines are wonderful, staff is great. I love being able to sit by the creek with a glass of wine. It’s a must on the list to see if your in the area. If Bob is working on the day you visit, tell him jc sent you.

Heavy pours and friendly staff. The sales manager Bob was very informative and knowledgable. This was one of our favorite stops of our trip. Great patio for a lunch picnic if you grab a sandwich at general store on dry creek road. Keep going to david coffaro after you go here.

Truett-Hurst is a diamond in the rough, a beacon off the beaten path for appreciators of vino around Sonoma and the world. Wow, where do I begin? How about the most obvious: the wine, the wine, the wine! Ahhhhh! I will take it all, please, thank you. From the Sauv Blanc(my favorite) to the Zinfandel’s, you are in for a treat. My palette is never disappointed here. The tastings are inexpensive, and quality is high. I even adore their labels and the animals that correlate with their wines(like the Rattlesnake or Rooster Zinfandel’s) Location: Along picturesque Dry Creek. They have a little farm on the property too, which you can roam about, get in a staring contest with one of their many goats, or simply sit by the creek drinking wine and picnicking! And if you are lucky, it might be spring, and the salmon might be running in the creek, for which Truett-Hurst hands out some nifty polarized glasses for which to see said fish. The owner incorporates sustainability and permaculture into her wine-growing and farming, which makes me appreciate even more. The owner also operates VML Winery in Sonoma County, our other favorite Wine Country stop! I recommend both, as we take all our visiting friends and family to both Truett-Hurst and VML. The wonderful people working there are amazing, kind, generous and helpful, and so are the people you meet strolling the paths or sitting outside on the deck. Not to miss! Need I say more?

I visited Truett-Hurst for my first time with a friend last week. It was her first time up north so I brought her up to Dry Creek Valley and thought id try out this place after hearing good reviews. It’s located right off of Dry Creek Rd s very easy to get to. I loved the ambience: it had a very small feel with a farm-like atmosphere. They had about 8 – 9 wines that you could choose 5 from to taste, including delicious 3 Zins and an awesome Cab. Out back there is a relaxing patio and a nice lawn backing up to a chicken coup and a field with sheep and goats. There were also beautiful gardens! If you walk through the gardens you find yourself right at Dry Creek where they’ve set up tables and chairs to relax at. This is the perfect place to come taste and bring a picnic. I will most definitely be back and will be recommending it to others!

What a wonderful location to enjoy a little wine tasting in the True Wine country. The Grounds are incredible, you have to walk outside and go spend some time by the creek that runs along the boundry. Not a far walk at all. Be advised, those great little Chairs and fire pits can be reserved for Wine club members, so don’t get your chonies in a bunch if you can’t spend time there. Such is life, but spend time there none the less. Tasting is very good. They do a great job of spending time with you and really walking through what you are tasting. This is what I love about a smallish little winery. Staff were incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. LOVE — when a winery WAVES the Tasting fee when you buy something. Unlike another winery we visited in the area, cough cough, these folks pulled the tasting fee without us even asking as we purchased 4 bottles. Great Customer service and something that is going to make me come back and find their wines at my local mega store for sure ! Definitely worth the stop !!!
