Amazing wines! They had one wine that was their hidden secret! Go there to try it out. Super fun and tasty.

Nice stop! Small producer, Scott is on top of it! Too bad we missed Glenn, owner/winemaker! Great story, nice people, good wines! You have to go

Oof. Another wine club… this is #5 and counting, but really I just couldn’t help myself. We were referred to Sanglier by the folks at Hawley(one of our other clubs). It’s just off the square and lucky for us – and them — it was also right in front of where we parked our car. The tasting room is bright and clean; a nice white wash on the walls. We tried 5 wines of our choosing from their menu; I believe there were about 10 to choose from. We particularly enjoyed the Merlot and their Red Blend which happened to be at a deep, deep discount for members. I was really impressed at the depth of the reds, particularly the Syrah. We ended up coming home with the 2011 Rouge Du Tusque, the 2012 Merlot Right Tusque, and a bottle of the 2010 Folded Rock Syrah. Because it’s just off the square, it’s less busy than some of the more commercial tasting rooms. Very nice folks, excellent wines — I highly recommend stopping by with your in Healdsburg.

Both employees were beyond attentive: joking with us, giving recommendations for food in the area, and even wishing me and my friend happy birthday! I ordinarily don’t like rose or chardonnay, but both weren’t just passable, but genuinely good. I was eyeing the red blends, and they didn’t disappoint. For such a limited supply(only a few hundred bottled per variety) and excellent products, $ 24 — $ 40 is really quite reasonable. My friend got a lovely box with the boar etched into it — and there is a lot of other boar-themed merch if you’re interested. Definitely take the time to turn the corner off the main square to come here! And don’t trust the Unilocal directions app, it let us wandering around the back neighborhood.

This is a great space. We were drawn there by their Sauvignon Blanc, which we had sampled during lunch, but every wine we tried was delicious, which is usually rare for me. Typically I only like one or two on the tasting list but, I enjoyed everything Sanglier had to offer. They also let us bring our dog inside, we initially tied her to a pole outside but the pouring guy(what do you call a wine tasting pouring person?) asked us to bring her inside(without us asking). Very friendly people here!

Sanglier is a hidden gem(amazingly enough as it is located literally 100 – 150 feet from the downtown Healdsburg Square, and still many people have a hard time finding it… not sure how that is possible if you are actually looking for it assuming the searcher is relatively sober :) Anyway, mystery solved, the address is: 132 Plaza Street. In all seriousness though, being a former boutique winery Sales Manager myself, I can say with certainty that Sanglier is a true diamond in the rough and one that deserves recognition for what they produce and the quality at which they do so vintage after vintage… good year/harvest or not! Business, sales and operations wise, they are a true pleasure to work with when purchasing or with questions, tasting appointments, etc. That being the case because Glenn’s daughter, Chelsea is active in nearly all operations, and a woman named Greer is almost for sure the nicest human alive. Icing on this pleasant wine country utopia is that her husband, Ryan Porter(Sanglier’s GM — head of Sales & Marketing, etc.) is quite possibly the most approachable, knowledgeable individual I know in the industry or period… about anything and everything(Alex Trebeck is nervous!) but he does so in such a relaxed, friendly and engaging way that you learn and after that it’s almost impossible not to want to buy these insane, incredibly priced bottles of wine that could and taste like, wine twice or three times the price retail. Again, Sanglier is a gem… owner/winemaker Glenn Alexander’s perspective is simple, obvious and refreshing: he just wants to succeed of course, but more importantly, it is originally made so folks can enjoy popping bottles(at very fair prices) with good friends and bueno comida :) Simply put, this is one pure, authentic family run Sonoma County winery that was made by one man and the whole Alexander family who has and continues to work tirelessly performing non-stop duties as both the head viticulturist and head winemaker, and somehow, I guess he just loves what he does because he still manages to consistently be one of the friendliest individuals you’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting in the industry and wherever frankly. Finally, Sanglier also offers an incredible array of different, yet equally charming wines all crafted with a similar thread running through each, but absolutely different as well of course as Glenn lets great, meticulous growing in the vineyards to the talking… or the making of great wine as-it-were. From a single varietal Grenache(which I dig, a lot), to an elegant, strawberry hued Bordeaux style Rose that now has somewhat of a cult following because it’s like nothing else, Sanglier Cellars is a producer that is doing everything the right way, with the right people on board and as a result, should NOT be missed or overlooked if visiting downtown Healdsburg.
