Fantastic customer service. If you want to feel like a million bucks, come here and have a tasting. They greeted us as we walked up with two glasses and some wine, before we even checked in. The ladies that poured for us were beautiful, inside and out. Such a gorgeous setting as well! Make a reservation and ask to sit outside in the shade, you get a view of the entire vineyard. The wines were a bit pricey, but I would say they’ve earned it. Oh and dog friendly! They had water, and treats for our Binx. Thanks MacRostie. =)

We came here at the suggestion of our hotel concierge and couldn’t be happier that we did — it was the highlight of our trip to Sonoma. The atmosphere and service are unparalleled. Not pretentious or snooty at all! In fact, when you arrive they greet you with a glass of champagne before you even go in. It’s a nice touch that sets them apart, especially when it’s served with a smile and a genuine hello. The winery itself is beautiful and we were seated at a nice table on the patio with a killer view. At first this scared us, because we immediately thought that any place with sit-down wine tastings(as opposed to counter-service) would be far too expensive for us. Turns out, it wasn’t. It was only $ 20 /person — in-line with most other places, and well worth it! Our server, Ben, was a very friendly and cordial representative for the business. He sat down with us a few times to talk about the wine, even though the winery was quite busy and he had other patrons to attend to. He put us at ease and made the experience very enjoyable. To provide such personal attention for each guest(even for mere novices like us, who enjoy the experience of wine — tasting in the sunshine as much as the wine itself) really distinguishes this winery from the rest! We will definitely be back someday. Oh and the wine is delicious.

Come here for pinots and chards! As we walked up we were greeted with sun coast Chardonnay(which was our favorite). We brought our own picnic cause they don’t have food. Their tasting room was the most beautiful! Modern, sleak, but still welcoming. It was nice after all the old«classic» style to have something contemporary. Couch inside, classy art, beautiful views, etc! Ben was a great server, we really enjoyed him and learned a lot about the vines and process. Apparently the winery is 29 years old but they just opened a tasting room. We found it randomly just driving bye but are so glad we came.

Probably one of the best wine tasting experience I have ever had. You are greeted with a complimentary glass of chardonnay as you enter. I thought the servers were very friendly and not overly aggressive. They said we were welcome to share a tasting or each do one. My husband and I usually share since one of us has to drive, but the place was so inviting that we each did our own tasting and decided to enjoy our time there. It is the only wine tasting that I have been to where all guests are seated and there is tableside service, which helps you savor the experience. The tasting room is very modern and only a year old. It is perched on a hill with amazing views of the Russian River valley. Although the tasting room is new, the owner has been making wines for more than 40 years and produces some solid chardonnays and pinots. You have several choices of wine tastings that range from $ 20-$ 25. They only comp one tasting if you buy three bottles. The tastings and wines are expensive for the area, but were worth it for the entire experience(trying new wines amid beautiful modern architecture, stunning views and great service). The owners(Steve and Thale MacRostie) tried to stop by each table and were very engaging, warm and welcoming. I love the opportunity to talk to the owners and winemakers, you don’t get that experience at the big commercial wineries. They also are very dog-friendly, providing water bowls and treats for your little furry friends.

Get ready architecture nerds and wine geeks, this one’s for you. Macrostie has a beautiful modern tasting facility… including a high-ceiling’d private room that we booked. A sommelier gave us a quick history of how each of several wines we tasted was farmed… and multiple glasses for our tastes to make it easy to compare different options, which led us to purchase two not-cheap bottles — something we probably wouldn’t have done otherwise. Come for the education!

LOVE this fabulous little winery! We came here up on the recommendation of an employee at another winery who steered us here cuz of my love of Pinot Noir. Even though they are by appointment only, I was able to call same day and get us in for a seated tasting. I really appreciated that they were so accommodating as it was our last day in Sonoma. From the minute you walk in they make you feel so special — handing you a glass of wine at the door. They seated us right away and we were quickly greeted by our tasting steward, Joe. It was such a lovely tasting with some of the best pinot noirs and Joe was so incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. We really enjoyed having our own steward guiding us through the tasting. He took amazing care of us and made us feel very special. :) The tasting room itself is stunning with beautiful window walls and gorgeous high ceilings. We loved it so much and had such a great experience that my friend who is a local ended up joining and all of us ended up buying several bottles. We will definitely be back! :)

WOW, WOW, WOW. This place is phenomenal. So much so that I decided to join their wine club this past weekend. I absolutely adore this place. Fantastic wines. Beautiful venue. Impeccable service. Breathtaking views. First, as we walked up from the parking lot we were greeted with our first tasting, their«welcome» chardonnay. Quite delicious. The whole«check-in» process was so classy. Loved it! Ambiance — — perfection. An architectural masterpiece with wrap around views of Dry Creek. Lovely seating areas inside and out including tables, grand tables, and couches. We were seated an an outdoor table with gorgeous views. The private tables were beautifully designed and, along with the tasting, offered fresh chilled water and bread sticks. The staff members who assisted us(Laurie and Charlie) were both so wonderful. Lisa Marie was intelligent, friendly, bubbly, interesting, and passionate about her job. Charlie was personable, helpful, and just a joy to be around. All of the staff came across as so genuine and endearing. We tried chardonnay and pinot noirs. All of the wines are of great quality and it is just a matter of finding one best suited to your own tastes. Note: for those interested in the wine club, the club offers a lot of perks. Wine pickup parties, special wine release parties, etc. I love this place and I will be a regular. It is my number one most favorite winery in Sonoma County. Note: this is a new venue for MacRostie Winery(1 yr) and is a beautiful architectural structure set on the hillside overlooking Dry Creek Valley. A beautiful place to hang out. Tip: make advance reservations if feasible. Easy and free to do online.

A++++ MacRostie Winery is the only vineyard you need to visit in the Russian River Valley. The Russian River Valley is in Sonoma County(less famous than Napa Valley). Sonoma is a much better place to taste wine. Not only are the vineyards and people less pretentious/fake, but the atmosphere is SUPER relaxed. In addition, there are fewer crowds. I was the only one sitting outside on a Tuesday morning. I pull up to 4605 Westside Road and see a beautiful building at the top. You’ve got to ride along Westside Road sometime! Heavenly views abound. Anyways I park and am instantly greeted by this nice woman with pearls. She offers me a glass of Chardonnay. Feels like I’m in a dream. I take a seat outside, and Duncan is my wine ambassador. He’s extremely knowledgeable about wine, and he’s pretty much the freshest dude in the Russian River Valley. It’s chill that he’s around my age, too. He used to live in Hawaii but moved here to swag out in the wine industry. He also tells me where to park for tubing on the Russian River later in the day. I try a variety of whites and reds, and I settle with a few pinot noirs, one of the Wildcat canyon bottles, and then a white wine. The pinot noir is so smooth. It doesn’t taste too dry, unlike many pinot noirs in Virginia. Baltimore pinot noir IS made in the toilet compared to that of Sonoma. I’m definitely coming back each time I’m in the Bay Area.

5 stars for service. But reservations required usually. I love chard/pinot so this was a win for me. Not my favorite but so so worth a visit. Great flights, great staff, so much wine. Very generous and a very beautiful view.

If you want an amazing wine experience, do visit MacRostie. If you don’t read anything else from this long-winded review, just know that MacRostie is absolutely the place to visit! Driving around wine country, on Westside Road, my boyfriend and I just happened to see this beautiful estate up on the hill in the distance. The entrance to the drive said MacRostie was open for tasting so we headed up the road. As we parked and walked toward the entrance to the winery tasting room, we were greeted by a woman who handed us a glass each of crispy white wine — their complementary chardonnay. What?! What amazing service! She then escorted us into the tasting room and since we didn’t have reservations(not required but definitely recommended) she had us wait a few minutes, shuffled some people around, and seated my boyfriend and I at the end of this expansive and long wood table. First impressions are everything but this was way over the top and totally appreciated! My boyfriend and I felt like royalty and this was all in the first 3 minutes of arriving at MacRostie. For the tasting, we had our own wine pourer(no idea what you would call someone like this), sat down WITH us and helped us pick a flight to try, set out several glasses and pours all at once so we could do side by side tastings, told us a bit about each pour, then left us alone to enjoy our wine. This is such a unique and awesome aspect of MacRostie. After a bit, and when she saw that our glasses were almost empty, she came back over, asked us about our favorites, answered any questions then poured the next few wines on our tasting menu. Surprisingly, the tasting was WELL within a reasonable fee and we loved the experience and wine SO much that we joined their wine club. If nothing else, just the experience alone was worth going back but couple that with incredible and crisp, quality wines and a beautiful tasting room and grounds, this will be our favorite spot in all of Sonoma County for a while. Thank you to MacRostie for making us feel welcome, special and for hosting a great experience. See you soon!

MacRostie is one of my favorite wineries! After hearing about it on a blog, I decided to stop here with 10 girls for my sister’s bachelorette party. Upon arriving, we were all greeted with glasses of wine and escorted to our private table, outside above the vineyard. (This winery is small, but very cozy. It has the coolest décor and design.) Once we were at our table, it took awhile for someone to help us. We thought it was odd considering how we were treated when we arrived. When we asked someone if they could help us, they said they would be right with us. Clearly the owner/manager knew something had gone wrong. She came directly over to our table, apologized and said our entire tasting was on the house. In addition, she said to choose any two bottles for us to take home free and she brought out a bunch of food for us to share. Talk about customer service! So apologetic and took full responsibility. Sure, we got a hell of a deal, but all that aside, I am coming back here 100%. The wine is AMAZING and the atmosphere is killer.

MacRostie is an amazing stop! It was a beautiful start to the day, being greeted in the parking lot with wine. We had a beautiful table reserved on the patio. Since it was a chilly morning, they were able to provide blankets so we could enjoy the experience. The wine is amazing. If you like Chardonnays or Pinot Noirs, this is a great the place to visit. Andrew was great to teach us the history and introduce us to the different vineyards. We enjoyed each of the wines and had a hard time figuring out what to purchase. One of the highlights from the trip!

Loved the warm greeting as you walk towards the tasting area. They have a glass of wine in hand for you! If you’re lucky you’ll see Teddy the cute little dog that roams the area. Lisa-Marie greeted us, she thought we were someone else, but still greeted us nicely when she found out we were not who she was waiting for lol they were full on space and she was apolegetic, but still wanted us to see the grounds. Then went off to see what she could do to get us a tasting. If she couldn’t squeeze us in that day, she offered a free tasting the next time we came back which was nice. But luckily she was able to get us in. Lovely tasting, great décor space, you do feel like you’re at home… a really expensive home with a million dollar bedroom view. went home with a couple of bottles, and hopefully we’ll be back! We were already drawn to their winery when we drove by, so we are glad we stopped in~!

Absolutely gorgeous! The moment we parked, we couldn’t get enough of the beautiful views of the vineyard. To our wonderful surprise, we were greeted with a delicious glass of white wine by one of the staff members. We walked in to a trendy, and spacious tasting room with breathtaking views. The hubby and I were seated at a round table where they poured 3 glasses of white wine for starters. It was such an enjoyable experience because we were able to take our time and sip through each glass while taking in the ambiance. It was the perfect way to conclude our wine country trip!

I want to give this winery 5 +++++ stars. I have been to LOTS of wineries as I live in the area — over 100 wineries so far — and this was by FAR the VERYBEST experience I have had to date. As we walked up from the parking lot we were greeted by vivacious Laura with 3 glasses of their«welcome» chardonnay. It it their one big retail wine and quite lovely. Other than a Unilocal party this is the only time I’ve had a staff member come out and greet us with a «taste» — we knew it was going to be a grand experience. Regarding the ambiance — it’s quite perfect. A lovely new large modern tasting room with nearly 360 degree views over the valley. Lovely seating areas inside and out. We were seated outside on this gorgeous fall day overlooking vineyards and a blue sky. Our«wine educator» was«Barry» and he knew his stuff. He suggested we try the«full on Barry» tasting which was his selection of the best wines on their 3 choices of tasting lists — we followed his lead. One of the many things I loved about this winery is they did a relaxed seated tasting and side by side tastings of the various varietals — the only way for me to really decide what I like the best. We started with 3 chardonnays, 2 of which I liked alot — one so-so. Then 2 different side by sides of their pinot noirs. One tasting I liked a lot was of the Wildcat single vineyard Pinot — one from 2010 the other from 2013. Gave you a true understanding of the value of cellaring a wine. His expanations of the ways the various grapes were grown, harvested etc was very educational and helpful.(I went home with a 2010 — absolutely scrumptous and ready now) They provided water and bread sticks. We also had brought sandwiches and had a late lunch on a back patio table — which I have to say they don’t necessarily offer on the weekends when they are super busy. They have only been opened since Feb. 2015. The entire experience was filled with class, elegance, warmth and family friendliness. We were there nearly 2 hours just breathing in the great wines and lovely surroundings. Like i said — I have a lot of wineries I love and like alot but this one is super special. thanks also to the wine tasting room manager, Lisa Marie for helping us and welcoming us so warmly. — we will be back!

Let me first start by saying that my wife and I have done a lot of wine tastings throughout Sonoma and Napa counties. However, we have never had an experience quite like the one we had at MacRostie this past weekend. It was amazing. From the moment we walked up to the beautifully designed tasting room, we were welcomed with a glass of chardonnay, and greeted warmly by a few staff. Even though we did not have a reservation, we were promptly seated and told a wine master would be with us shortly. We were in awe of the level of knowledge that was presented to us, it was great to experience; three different pinots, and three different chards of the same vintage, just from different areas, and to taste the difference in the terroir. We joined the wine club, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Dang. This place makes you feel valued. We walked it and were handed glasses straight away, given a brief walk through of the tasting room, and then seated outside to a gorgeous view over they valley. The staff was super knowledgeable and customized our tasting based on preferences(we are members though, fyi). The wines themselves were excellent, and if you need a kick to get over wine sleepyness they have a nice coffee bar too. We spent more time then we expected here, simply because the environment just beckoned us to sit and relax, watching soaring birds as we sipped a variety of Pinots. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

We were on our way elsewhere for lunch when up on the hill was a glimmering minimalist beacon that called to us. It was if the building said«come… drink lovely wine and enjoy our views» and thankfully the driver of our car decided this was a jolly good idea and pulled the car in to the driveway. The first sign that MacRostie is a little different is the welcome you get as you walk from the carpark in to the building. You will be welcomed with smiles and glasses of cold vino before you even step indoors! What a treat. Lisa Maree was the most delightful character and welcomed us warmly in to the bright interior of their cellar door. When we mentioned we only had 45 minutes before we needed to head to a lunch reservation she set about swiftly organising our tasting with Russell, another charmer with loads of personality and wine knowledge. We sat down and the table was set with addictive grissini and glasses of Chardonnay poured as we took in the views. With a number of different tasting flights available, it’s possible to try a good selection of wines here but my advice is to go for the one that contains the most Chardonnay and Pinots available. It’s the most expensive, but if you make a purchase and join their club(which my hosts did) it will be complimentary. This is one of the best cellar door experiences I’ve had anywhere in the world and we were all sad that we needed to rush away to our next appointment. If I lived in this part of the world I would be delighted to join their members club and receive shipments of their exquisite wines and enjoy the perks of membership.
