Stopped by today and they were having a private party for their club members. Although we’re not members, they allowed us to stay and do a tasting. The wines were good, but we didn’t buy any. The prices are always reasonable for the quality of their wines.

Ray Gopfrich is an amazing man. He makes a solid red wine. My husband and I made an appt. this past Saturday and spent over an hour chatting and tasting wines with Ray. It was a great experience with great wines to boot. This place is a hidden gem.

Gopfrich Vineyard and Winery is a small family owned winery in the Dry Creek Valley. Ray Gopfrich is the owner and wine maker. His style is food friendly. Not huge tannic wines but wines of great balance and rich taste. His syrah is among the best in the area. He is only open by appointment, but is worth the extra effort to arrange it. If you enjoy huge tannic bold fruity wines then pass. But, if you like rich fruity wines of balance that taste great then please don’t pass up the opportunity to taste his wine.

Great wines. Great wine club. The owner, Ray is so nice and down to earth. Easy to talk with and quick to laugh and smile. Grows his own grapes for his wines. Call ahead for a private tasting or join the Umlach Wine club. I live in San Francisco but don’t have the wines shipped and use the pick up as a convenient excuse to drive up and visit with Ray and his wife and taste. You won’t find these wines anywhere else. Great value, too. Cabernet, Syrah, Zinfandel. Merlot, Rstate Cuvée(my favorite) — all nicely structured and age well.

We’ve been buying wine from Gropfrich winery for 7 years now. Never disappointed. They make a small quantities of each varietal and they’re all just awesome. The quality to price ratio is very high. Our favorites are Zins and Syrahs followed by the Cab and Cuvee. We always buy a few cases during barrel tasting every year. HIGHLY recommended.

I’ve been to Goepfrich Winery a number of times and always love the peaceful, receptive nature of this winery. Small winery but very friendly and helpful. Ray is the wine maker for all the reds and the German whites are produced and imported by a sister winery in Germany. The reds are very good, I especially like the Zinfandels and the late harvest dessert wine. Prices are very good especially for the quality and complexity of the wines. Highly recommended!

This is the best winery in Healdsburg. It is by appointment only. However, The personal attention you get when you are there is wonderful. I’m not a big white wine fan. But, Gopfrich Winery make such amazing wines, I even like the whites here too! All of the reds made here are off the hook great! I love Gopfrich Vineyard and Winery. It’s well worth the trip!

Maybe it was the perfect weather, maybe it was the golden leaves in the vineyard, or maybe it was the personal service of the tasting, but we thought this place was great. Ray, the owner/winemaker poured for us and explained his thoughts on Dry Creek type wines. It was personal service and attention to detail that seems rare in a lot of the bigger tasting rooms. To top it off, the wine was fantastic. Highly recommended weather you are new at tasting or an oenophile.

The wine is pretty good, typical zins of the dry creek area. They also have some very good german whites. You have to call ahead to get a tasting. The owner, Ray, is very helpful and friendly and willing to talk wine at any level, novice to expert. Go home with the Silvaner or the 05 zinfandel; you’ll be happy.

The wine didn’t impress, but I did enjoy laying down in the soft grass and taking a mid-afternoon five minute nap =)
