I ordered a steak and cheese with peppers. What I got what a hamburger on a roll with hoagie spread. Disgusting!

We stumbled upon this on our road trip via Unilocal reviews. Good, old school neighborhood luncheonette that evokes a simpler time. We had an excellent meatball sandwich and a good western omelette sandwich. After we placed our order I saw a patron having a salad that made my mouth water – it looked so fresh. Make sure you have cash with you – as we learned it’s a cash only restaurant.

Best place to have a breakfast! Excellent customer service! They treat strangers like families and make you feel like you’re just having your breakfast at home. Great food!

Everything is good here, from cold cut hoagies, to pepper, egg, and cheese hoagies, salads, and even CMP sundaes! Very reasonable, clean family run business!

The neighborhood eatery, candy store or just a hang out, Third Base was all of these for me growing up. Living d block away I was her everyday growing up for a hoagie, penny candy, playing the juke box or playing the video games that once had a place here. A family owned place in its entire existence, the Base always made you feel like you were family as well. The food here is made today as it has been since I was a kid. No changes you ask? When you put out quality food for so many years why would you need to. The cold cut which is my go to tastes the same ever time you get one for as long as you can remember. Nothing fancy about it just quality meats on a great tasting roll. The inside hasn’t changed much over the years and that is perfect. A lot of places remodel many times to keep up to current times but keeping that old school look makes Third Base exactly what locals know it to be or remember it as.

Awesome hoagies! A little pricey for their size but very good. Very limited seating inside. Everything is always fresh. Cash only. Street parking only. No complaints here. I give it an A.

Every time I’m in Hazleton I make it a point to go to the Base. I’ve had hundreds of Italian subs from there and each one has been tremendous. The 50s era interior is vintage and awesome and I really appreciate having this place where I grew up.

The best. Best meats, best service, best atmosphere. Best hoagies. And you gotta like the owner, Dave Mishinski. He’s like having a comedian, Lech Walesa and your cousin Vinnie rolled into one. And for all that and the hoagies, you pay next to nothing. I mean, really – talk about a deal! And it’s fresh. The only question is whether to take it to go or to pull up a stool and be entertained by Dave or some guy at the counter named Pauly who’s out of the Soprano’s Now if only they’d bring back the Tastykakes instead of the Little Debbie’s…

This is the kind of place you wish existed around the corner of where you lived. Great food, fresh ingredients, quick and extremely friendly service. The prices are ridiculously cheap. If you’re in Hazleton you can’t miss this place. Besides, this place has been around for at least 5 decades. I got the cold cut hoagie one day and a double cheeseburger with bacon(greasy and abundant) the next day. I came back two other times in the following months and made it a point to get the chicken, peppers, cheese, ham and egg, sandwich.

Interesting Mom and Pop diner. Cute place, however, vegetarians might want to search elsewhere. It’s a struggle in Hazleton.
