SOLDOUTFOR2015 — Called and was told this by the man that answered. He said no retail this year.

Would have been nice for them to update their website with current opening dates and location, and to have a phone number that works. Instead we drove to the Coliseum location on the website where they’ve been for years and nothing was there. How is that an appropriate way to treat a customer? Happily we found Brent’s on Doolittle Drive nearby which was a good spot.

They look closed in 2014. Nothing is set up? However, long time Oakland Christmas tree lots at Brent’s Christmas trees are open at 50 Swan Way at Doolittle heading to Alameda and another lot at Grand and Lakeshore next to Farmers Market. Excellent family business with fresh CA and OR trees. Cut fresh weekly. Brent is a local Oakland resident too since 1958. Support local business owners!

LOVE this place. I am so glad they are back. 2012 was not the same without them! They always have the best selection of trees. Kind of pricey but I would rather pay more & support a great family business like this! It doesn’t hurt that they have warm cider to help take the chill off.

We’ve been patronizing Santa’s for over 35 years. We’re also sorry they have lost a loved one. WE pounded the East bay for a 10 ft Noble Fir that was perfect which we found by accident at 51st and Telegraph. We hope you will return next year. You have the best selection of «commercial» grade trees that we like for our home.

Santa’s Coliseum is closed for the 2012 season. There was a death in the family that runs it. Don’t know if it is for this year or permanently, but I know for sure that it is not opening this year. Gotten great prices on our trees there for years! Sad to see it go.

Finally gave up on Home Depot this year and headed to a tree lot for once. Had a great experience picking out our Christmas tree here. Plenty to choose from and we feel like we got a great price. The people working were really nice, and they will carry the tree to your car. They are located right off of 880 and there is a big lot to park in. Also, it’s January 5th and our Christmas tree is still up. I would normally have taken it down around NYE but it’s still perfectly happy and smells divine! We will be coming back to get our tree here next year for sure.

What to say, what to say… This place has a few things going for it. It’s pretty convenient as it’s right off the 880 and it has a wide selection to choose from. I did not find the staff to be all that helpful when I was picking out a tree. Perhaps I came during their lunch break because I saw most of the staff sitting around eating pizza. After looking and looking(I’m on the indecisive side) i finally settled on a fat Douglass Fir. I love it! My boyfriend wanted it flocked for some reason. I actually am not a fan of flocking but since he was paying, the tree got flocked. Just a note — flocking is $ 5 per foot. When I came back to pick up my flocked tree, two gentleman wrapped the tree in plastic and tied it to the roof of my car for me. My only real complaint is that they had tons of small Noble firs but no small Douglass Firs. I wound up having to get a 6 foot tree because that’s all they had. So, my second note — this place specializes in Noble Firs. If you want a Douglass Fir you might be better served going to your local Home Depot or Supermarket if you’re looking for a small Douglass Fir. There’s no fun in buying your tree from a mass chain, but you’ll get what you want.

When you’re itching to spend $ 75+ on 8 feet of dead plant material which you will throw in the garbage in less than a month, this is the place for the choicest selection. We’ve been buying our trees here for a dozen years. In the old days, I used to amuse myself by negotiating the marked price down by at least 10−15%. But in the last several years, they’ve gotten wise to me and have been playing the«oh, you’ll have to speak with the owner» card. And of course the owner is never there. Yesterday, with no success, I played the«$ 76.50 in a recession?!» card, and the«Look at all the brown needles at the base» card, and also the«Look, I told my kid you’d knock $ 10 off; you don’t want to embarrass me, do you?» card. Don’t you judge me. I have an illness.

We went here again this year, and I’m still a fan. They have plenty of folks working there, so you never have to wait for help with your tree. Or carry it anywhere until you get home.
