I started coming here in the 80’s and its still a great place for(what else) a ¼ lb burger. It sure will give In n out a run for it’s money — What I like about this is it’s not pretentious, it’s not flashy, there’s no gimmics, it’s just a burger counter top place that has been running for over 40 years and the only changes is it’s register. This is my go to place for a to go order before I go to the Rose Gardens or go on a drive through Hayward to Fremont(for whatever reason that would be). It’s got flavor without the panache that other burger joints need to stand out. It’s kind of out of the way on Mission, but if you’re near it, it’s a great break from the cars and the people that drive crazy on Mission. Enjoy.

I was born in 1966 and raised in Hayward, so I’ve passed this place a billion times … yesterday we stopped and had one. Holy cow, what an awesome burger !!! I had the chili burger, and it was perfect. The place was super clean and had a feel of the ’60’s era. Very impressed !!!

We came here espressly for a burger. Walking in the place is clean and inviting. Friendly staff. My husband ordered the double and I had the ¼ pounder. Both had fresh ingredients but the beef doesn’t have much flavor. We both had to season our burgers and they were a bit dry. To us, there are much better burger places around.

my top burger spot. Only the one in Hayward has the original 80s 90s taste in my opinion. Big, huge and sloppy! Pineapple thick shake is wonderful. The fried chicken patty sandwich is good if you don’t want beef.

Wow, I guess the ONLY reason they get 2 stars from me is because I feel a sense of nostalgia. We went here late on a Wednesday night and according to their hours we still had 5 minutes. We asked for 2 cheesies w/grilled onions. Her answer to me was«We no grill no grill no onion, too late» … now I’m all for regional accents but she was just being a BATCH to us … EXTREMELYRUDE. Now we still wanted our cheesies so we waited while she rudely completed our transaction. The fries were cold and the burger was thrown together. After 45 years I am NEVERGOINGBACK.

Descent burgers, great chili cheese fries but the service is crap. Ignored me at the window, ignored me inside. Only one other person was in there at the time so the lady wasn’t busy, so I just left don’t want my business that’s fine won’t bother you again.

Clean clean and clean. This place is awesomely clean. I have to get my burger rare here and ask for extra mayo, cause I am crazy. I also get my fries covered in cheese because it’s plastic nacho cheese and I love plastic nacho cheese! I ordered the«new!» and, «special!» pineapple shake but it was literally a vanilla shake with the tiniest bits of canned pineapple. I could have used some more pineapple. Maybe throw some of that canned juice in the mix? My shake experience felt like someone ground a popsicle stick into my shake. I like their fries, though. So good with or without cheese. 3.7 out of 5 because I IDK 5 out 5 for crispy meaty fries!

Been going here for years since I’ve lived in Hayward going on 10years it’s changed owners a bunch I feel like. For burgers and fries it’s pretty expensive. They used to almost give u a whole paper bag of fries back in the day now just a normal serving. Nothing bad to say other than the high prices for not the best burgers ever but they are quick for your meal. Bomb milkshakes. No corn dogs tho…(That’s what I had a craving for the other night when I went and was sad they didn’t have them) Their lobby closes pretty early. Plan on this place being a «grab and go» unless u are down with eating in ur car, there is no outside seating.

Hi I’m going to keep this short and simple came to this place at 9:50 pm rude ass lady at the window told me were closed. So change your hours on Unilocal. This is now the second time this happens to be at this place I would like to get a hold of management and let them know from reading other reviews seems like I’m not the only person this has happen to. Bad Service not acceptable.

Ok, so this is one of the better burger places around… however, it is not the best burger I have had. I got the cheeseburger on one of those nights after shenanigans. It took a while… which is alright because I do want care put into my burger, however once I got it, I was disappointed to find that there were no pickles. This is a burger must for me! They don’t have pickles. It is somewhere you might consider getting take out because there are very few seats inside, and you are somewhat on display to those riding by on Mission blvd. It’s been around forever… I once had a burger here when it was under difference management and I think it was good then. It’s a standard burger. Nothing exceptional nor special. The fries were also okay. Not great.

10/29, 10:30pm they close at 11:00pm. I order my burger and ask for grilled onions. «No. We’re out of those.» I respond with, «Ahhh. Ok. An order of french fries. Possible to do chili cheese fries?» «No. We don’t have grilled onions, chili or ice cream for milkshakes.» «Oh… Uhh.» «We close in 10 minutes and we need to start putting stuff away.» «Strange… Saw it says you’re open until 11:00pm.» «Yeah. Well we need to clean up and be out of here by 11:00pm.» «Huh, ok…» How this place has been here since 1966 is beyond me. There was zero service in the customer service portion of this transaction. Good thing the POS system is capable of listing«Default Manager» on the receipt. Easier not to have pride in one’s job.

At $ 5.45 for a cheese burger and $ 6.45 for a bacon cheese burger, these aren’t exactly inexpensive, especially for ¼ pound burgers. If you want more bulk, you can head for Nations Burger or Carl’s Jr. Around the San Fran Bay Area, I’ve tried several different burger places. Kings Burger House in San Jose has been my favorite, though today, I have to give this place equal ranking. This is very much a 1960s sort of place with only a few(six?) stools at the counter and plenty of parking. You order at the counter. The menu is fairly simple: burgers, fries, shakes, and soda. It was exactly what I wanted, except for the mayonnaise, which I saw almost too late. The cheese burger came with lettuce, tomato, and a full slice of onion. As someone else mentioned, there are no pickles. The burger was excellent and the fries were good also, thick cut with skins. There were napkins, salt, and pepper at the counter but ketchup had to be requested. I’m guessing that they don’t get many people who sit inside the dining room. It’s a drive to get there, but just like my favorite places in San Jose, it’s worth the drive, to me anyway.

Great fast and friendly service. You want old style hamburgers and a hearty shake and possibly some chili cheese fries. This is the place to go. Delicious!

Pretty solid burger, sure took care of the late night hunger after arriving from the east coast. The fries could have been crisper. Take away only!

Best burgers in the bay area, I am a vegeterian so it’s really difficult for me to find vegeterian burgers but this place got one and they really know how to make it so delicious, wohh, thank you guys!

Tried the cheeseburger and the chilliburger. My cheeseburger was delicious. I got it with some fries and everything was good. I have no complaints. The customer service was good. My daughter got a hotdog and it looked like she enjoyed it. My husband got his chilliburger, it was quiet messy for him to eat but he said it was a really good burger for the burger lovers. Very big parking space we loved. Will definitely be coming back here soon

These are my favorite burgers. Love me a double bacon cheese from here, and the turkey burgers are also good. I also like that I don’t have to say«no pickles»(hate pickles and they don’t have em)! Bigger and tastier than In-N-Out and Five Guys, and I also wasn’t as impressed with Val’s or Sam’s. Not hating on them, but this is my go-to. –1 star because they are never consistent with their«grilled cheese,» which isn’t advertised. My girlfriend doesn’t eat meat but wants the produce and cheese(instead of a veggieburger), and every time I ask they look like at me like I’m crazy. Sometimes they just put cheese on a bun… that aside, they’re great.

Let me start this off by saying that these burgers ARE really good. My low score isn’t based on the quality of the food or on the customer service of the restaurant, but on what I expect from a burger restaurant. Either take my two star rating at face value and move on(Sam’s Burgers is great, I’m a fan of Five Guys, and you can’t go wrong with In-N-Out) or read on and make an informed decision. I had a bacon burger, and my girlfriend had a turkey burger with bacon and cheese. The meat that is used is quality and delicious and I can’t complain about the produce either. Everything seemed fresh and nothing was soggy. However, it takes more than a good burger to make a good burger restaurant. They need to do more than just buy their meat from a quality butcher. First of all, this is the first burger restaurant that I’ve ever been to that does not serve pickles. Pickles are a staple to the hamburger. If you don’t like pickles, then add a star to my score. If you do like pickles, then be as disappointed as me when I walked to the window for the first time, ordered a burger, asked for extra pickles, and then was shot down. It makes absolutely no sense that a restaurant that serves burgers does not also serve pickles. I seriously was ready to rate this place one star after being told they didn’t have pickles before I even tasted my food. I want pickles on my burgers and, since this place lacks pickles, I will not come again. Their burgers are not so special that they’re undeniably better than the three other restaurants that I listed above. My next gripe is that you’re charged nearly a dollar($ 0.80) to add grilled onions to a burger. This is a fine example of nickel and diming. Does it take so much effort to toss some onions onto a grill and cook them along with a burger patty that we should be charged nearly a dollar extra for produce that already comes standard to the burger? That’s more than the cost of extra cheese at any other restaurant. My next gripe is the near $ 3 price tag for the unimpressively sized and underwhelming French fries. For what they charge, I was expecting a lot more. Five Guys doesn’t skimp on fries — this restaurant does. This wouldn’t be a huge deal if the quality of their fries was as good as the quality of their hamburger patties, but, like I said, they were unimpressive. Then, finally, my girlfriend and I were teased by the menu listing Oreo cookie shakes that were unavailable the night we came. Again, let me repeat, the burgers sold here are delicious and top notch, but this restaurant has some ways to go before I’d ever recommend them over another burger stand. At least not until they do something about some of the their ridiculous prices. Go here if you’re just looking for a tasty beef or turkey burger and you do not mind that you don’t have pickles as an option and you don’t mind paying extra for something as simple as grilled onions. Order your fries elsewhere because the ones here aren’t even remotely great.
