Ok you guys what is with all the amazing reviews on this Delis food? I took my neighbor there as we are looking to find a new place to nosh, yes I am aware it is a deli in the back of a small market with a gas station out front I was not expecting the plaza with a chef from one of the top cooking schools. we are your typical mountain folk just looking for a sandwich. we walk in see all this candy yum, and a few items you dont see say in giant or the such, and are greeted by a really nice women. so we walk to the back and dont see any sort of counter we turn to each other and say are we in the right place? I look to my left and see this really small counter with a sign of food prices over it. oh here it is ok what ever so this different nice lady comes to the counter and we place our order. two rubens one on white and a steak and cheese if you please. so we get home hers is nicely grilled, mine is barley for some reason even if you beg places to grill your white bread ruben really well they all refuse just like here so I was expecting this result. but she forgot the sauerkraut on my ruben whats a ruben with out kraut? not good. I also could not place that corn beef I have never in my entire life seen corned beef that looks like that normally it is a long maybe two inch strip of meat this was large as a slice of ham. not sure if it was corned beef just funny odd. I only took a few bites no kraut, limpy bread, weird meat. I tapped out. someone mentioned«the best ruben in town» that is because it is the only ruben in town. have not clue about the steak and cheese that went next door. so I got thinking why all these rave reviews then it hit me. if you know the area there is nothing else to eat except seven eleven. it is a long stretch of road between any other food sources really long and what is offered in the town of haymarket well this might just be the best place the joe worker can choose from but kind of expensive at $ 6 bucks for a sandwich and not even a dill pickle in sight. so with the kind staff and not horrible food I have had worse I guess I would say try it out. I just cant give it a three star. A OK. so it has to be two at I have had better as I have. just dont understand all those five stars.

We’ve started going on Friday nights to get pizza, and they are awesome! Great food and service every time.

If you are glued to your cell phone and always pay at the pump. You have probably driven past this market countless times with no idea this fantastic deli even exists. Well… I suggest you stop & «smell the roses», get out of your car, and venture to the back of the market where you will find a small deli counter and usually a long line of people. Food is outstanding, Prices are right, and the hidden location makes it a favorite amongst the locals.

Best Rubon in town. Waiting for my car to get inspected and happened upon the deli in the back of the convenance store. I was presently surprised. There was a line of construction workers so I knew it had to be good food.

A bunch of grumpy old men. I won’t be taking my car for service there again. They treated me bad. And they almost ran over a lady walking through the gas station. He tried to make it seem as if it was her fault but the grumpy old mechanic was the one speeding.

The deli counter: Steak Sandwich’s are hands down better than most restaurants. My husband and I try to make a point to go at least once a month to get their cheese steak sandwich. Another poster talked about the brownies… we have had those to… oh my gosh soooo good. You could not be disappointed with their food. Breakfast sandwiches are also great.

have lived down the road from this place my whole live and always run down to get stuff when needed. It is one of the better country stores in the area and in the summer and fall you can often get fresh picked corn that a farmer sells outta the bed of his truck. A surprising part and one that many don’t notice is that their deli in the back is the bomb! So much better than subway or any 7 – 11 sub and its enough to fill you up after a hard day of work

This place looks like a crappy dump from the outside, but inside is one of the best delis I’ve had the pleasure of stopping at. It reminds me of the local store in the town I grew up in, where the sandwiches and desserts are made fresh, and are real and delicious. I had a chicken salad sandwich and a peanut butter/chocolate brownie, and they were SOGOOD. I just get hungry thinking about them now. This is one of those hidden gems, and if you’re in the area, you must stop here.

It is not the prettiest place from the outside but don’t let the look keep you away. It might not be the nicest looking place but they have some really great food. They have a deli counter where they make fresh sandwiches, a dessert case with homemade pies, cakes, brownies, and cookies. They also have farm fresh brown eggs and Virginia wines. Sometimes they have fresh tomatoes, apples, or other seasonal produce. Their desserts are amazing and we often pop in just to see what they have. My favorite so far has probably been the peach cream cheese coffee cake, but everything is really good!

Yum, this review is primarily for the food at the deli counter in the back of the convenience store. Yes, the place is old and a bit divey but if you’re not totally uptight and get over the appearance, they have some good food. Breakfast — don’t waste your time and money going to Mickey D’s drive through, stop here and pick up a nice big breakfast burrito or other type of breakfast sandwich. Made fresh and hot when you order it. Although I never thought it possible, I actually have to say they put TOOMUCH bacon on my breakfast burrito. I have to pull some out and eat it first. Only negative: they don’t have a nice salsa to go with the burritos. Lunch — The hot pastrami sub is awesome and it is enough food for two adults, easily. Grab a bag of chips and a soda on the way out. Sweets — The baked goods counter at the front of the store has some great brownies and other treats. They rarely make it all the way home without a few nibbles. Gas — Sometimes their price beats 7 – 11 down the road and other times it’s more, I usually check with GasBuddy on my way to decide which one to stop at. Auto Service — Can’t say, I have never used them.

I started going by here on the way to and from work about a month ago. Their brownies are well loved by my son, especially peanut butter! They make some really great sandwiches too with the BLT being my favorite. Breakfast sandwiches are inexpensive but very filing, you can afford to bring in breakfast sandwiches for the whole team and not break the bank. If you are like me and have driven by here for years and never stopped in, give your self a treat and visit the deli and the pastry case. You won’t be disappointed! The reasons I gave them 5 stars are not only for the delicious food and friendly customer service, but the hours are perfect for the early morning Hwy 15 commuter. They open at 0500 and if you call in ahead of time, all you have to do is step out of your vehicle for 3 – 4 minutes and be right back on the road.

Excellent down home breakfast sandwiches! Way tastier than anything you can get at McDonald’s or Burger King!

As the previous reviewer stated, Vanc’s offers a variety of services. Over the years I have taken vehicles to the auto center for oil changes and State Safety/Emmissions checks — for which they provide decent service. I have often called in an order for a steak and cheese sub and drove over to pick it up(I highly recommend the deli, which is very decently priced). A complaint would be the price of their gas in comparison to other stations in the area — usually very overpriced. I believe a little while ago they actually stopped providing gasoline, but rcently have regained this service. Overall, not a bad stop. Food = 4 stars, but overall = 3 PS. Next door/connected to Vance’s is a small western tack shop — very small. There are many other tack shops in the area that are worth more of a look.
