The Other Moving Company

I meant to do this a while ago. We used TOMC about four months ago to move from one — 3 bedroom apt on the ground floor to two separate 2 bedroom apt… one on the ground floor… the other on the 3^rd floor. It was an excellent experience from start to finish. From having someone actually come to your place, look things over & provide an estimate, to the move, we received wonderful service! Anthony, Alan & Ronnie were the best… you won’t find any better, I guarantee it. They were polite, professional, friendly and joking throughout the whole day. They worked steady through the day & came in under estimated time & cost. If you are going to hire movers, do yourself a couple favors…#1 Use The Other Moving Company & #2 If they allow you to do so, request Anthony, Alan & Ronnie… you won’t be disappointed! Great job & thank you to everyone from start to finish!

Couldn’t be happier with the moving experience. We moved from Charlotte, NC to Ellicott City, MD (near Baltimore) and I wasn’t even there for the move – my parents were – because I had to be back in Baltimore for work. They were professional, everything got moved in one piece, they were careful, and they were friendly. They only had to pack a few boxes (I packed everything but dishes and glassware), and they took about 4 hours to move out and 4 to unpack and move in. I’d recommend them again in a minute. The price was a little higher than quoted (about $ 700), but I think it’s challenging to predict weight and cost on an intrastate move. They still came in a lot lower than 3 other companies I called. Highly recommended.

The movie started out great. The movers were friendly and efficient. As the day wore on however they clearly were getting tired, and did not completely empty the house of all items. they did not have the necessary tools to disassemble the refrigerator so it would fit out through the doors, and made arrangements to pick it up and deliver it two days later. When they came to move the refrigerator, they refused to move the other items that they had not moved on the initial day.
Also the final bill was approximately $ 1000 more than the estimate. The lead «discounted» about half of that so the final amount due was still $ 500 more than the top estimate.
I will not use this company again or refer any friends to it.

They moved our household a short distance – just across the street – but it was done carefully, with great courtesy and within the estimated price. I would definitely use The Other Moving Company again.

The Other Moving Company was great to deal with. We had to clean out my Wife’s parents home with short notice. The furnishings were going to three different locations. Sarasota Florida and two locations in Northern Va. They packed everything up and labeled accordingly. They also provided environmentally controlled storage. When we were ready they moved the items to the three locations. I thought their people were great and I will definitely use them again!

We used this company to move from the DC area to the Northern Neck with pick-​up one day, from three locations, and delivery the next. The services we requested were executed flawlessly. The entire team was professional, courteous, hard working and appeared to enjoy what they were doing. The truck and materials were right on point and the price was fair. Honestly, after having moved many times I don’t know how we could have had a better experience. Highly recommend !!

It’s been 6 months since my family moved from Chesapeake, VA to the northern VA area (been a little busy unloading a few boxes!), but I felt it was important to review one of the best moving companies we’ve had the experience of dealing with. And, that’s after 20 years in the military with several moves. They were awesome from beginning to end. The estimate went smoothly and all my questions were answered. They even gave me tips on packing my boxes professionally since we did this to save money. I had to call the office several times with questions. They were friendly, courteous, and helpful each time. On pack out day, the individuals that came to do the job (actual employees of The Other Moving Company; not just hired out for the day) were pleasant, professional and courteous. Oh, forgot to mention, that we had 17 years worth of «stuff» in our attic that they brought down the stairs and loaded into the truck. I was told by 2 other companies during their estimates that we would have to be responsible for bringing all that down. Anyway, our items were packed well and we had nothing broken or missing. Their charges were mid way between my least expensive estimate and my most expensive so I felt this was reasonable. I would most definitely use them again or recommend them to anyone considering a move. Thanks again TOMCO!
