I was in a noodle soupy mood since I was kind of under the weather at the time. We came here since it was one of the few places open during the time. We got the brisket/tripe phở and the chicken phở. Both bowls were pretty good. The broth was decent, and the chicken was pretty yummy. Overall, I was pretty happy with it to satisfy my stuffy nose. Prices are decent. Cash only. Plenty of parking.

i like quiet little places to take my time and eat slowly. this place is one of those. the décor is outdated but there’s a nice flat screen tv in the corner. the bathroom is fairly clean. the plastic chopsticks are a bit worn, pretty normal for small asian business. the people who work there have this slow pace of life which is nice. i ordered the #7 rare beef, tendon. came out nice and hot. fast too since i was one of two customers. I immediately tasted the broth, rich and a little oily. it did not have a big floral fragrance, it was closer to the beef stock. then, i added the mint leaves, hoisin, and sriracha. the rare beef cooked in the broth pretty nicely and the tendon was soft. there were a couple tendon pieces that were a bit tougher to chew but what are you gonna do? the noodle portion was a good size and was fairly easy to chew, not too soft. as i ate, the man who served me seemed to just talk on his phone but when it came time to tending to the customers, he was on it. towards the end, it was rather random but made me feel homely. the man had asked me how to turn the flashlight off his phone and i was glad to help. he saw me out kindly and i came out full and satisfied. i don’t really get the star system but 3 stars for being a quiet worn down business but makes pretty enjoyable phở

Went in today and asked if they make a vegetarian Phở, the old man said yes. Order it and when he come out the back I asked if they use vegetables broth and he stated it was beef. Think he knows what vegetarian means? I will stick with Shanghai dish much better Phở there made with vegetable broth when I want it that way.

Quite honestly, the phở broth was rather good. Clear and not greasy, with meaty flavor, not overly salty. The noodles were a bit overcooked and too much ratio to the broth. When the bowl hit the table, the soup had already cooled off, I think because of the large wad of cold noodles it had to compensate for. Ordered number 3 which was well done brisket, tendon and tripe. These ingredients were standard and not bad. The Basil, Sprouts and Lime toppings seemed plentiful and fresh. We ordered 3 diet cokes. 2 were 4 months expired and 1 was 7 months expired, so the artificial sweetener had already turned toxic. We tried the stop the old man when he swooped by to drop off the food, but he would not stop and listen. None of us drank our drinks. Next, the spring rolls… the spring rolls were disgusting. We ate half of one. the shrimp looked raw, which were hiding under the brown lettuce. These things were anorexic, approximately ¾ inch in diameter, and apparently made with leftovers in the kitchen. They were fresh, but made with scraps from the kitchen. In addition, perhaps because of the rain and location, the property itself was dirty and run down. The tables and tableware all screamed to be bleached and set ablaze. So, we ate our noodles, sufficiently sterilized in Siracha sauce, left the spring rolls and toxic soda, and left that place as soon as we paid the bill, all the while suspiciously eyeing the ‘A’ health rating hanging on the window.

I had ordered phở from here before and it was mediocre at best, but not bad enough to warrant a negative review. Today I ordered for pickup and the guy not only completely forgot my order and made me wait while they made it, they forgot my wife’s soda the second time I placed the order while he was standing in front of me. Not only that, it’s 85 degrees today and he served me a hot salad! I wanted a cold salad specifically because it would be refreshing. Let’s not forget that he forgot to put the prawns in! The salad is missing carrots and the lettuce is limp, lifeless and gross. I’m not coming here again.

I like going to small mom-n-pop shops like this one. Nothing fancy at all, just wanted a quick ph tái nm gân for lunch and enjoy a cà phê sa đá. Had a conversation with the elderly man as my coffee dripped slowly and as he refilled his sriracha bottles; talked about Vietnam, the weather, and food. The ph was good and the coffee strong, and the company very hospitable!

The food came out really fast… If you order the phở. I ordered spring rolls as an appetizer and it took about 15 minutes after I got my phở to get it. The phở was good. Can’t really mess up phở. The spring rolls on the other hand were very chewy and the shrimp inside was RAW. He took it off our Bill and when we went to pay we pulled out a card and learned that they only accept cash at this place and it wasn’t listed anywhere. It was very inconvenient and annoying. But the phở itself wasn’t bad.

I am in the midst of a great search for excellent Vietnamese iced coffee and good food. I can live with just about any other combination of service and cleanliness. This place doesn’t quite fit the bill for my standard Phở Phriday lunch routine. Although the iced coffee really was superb, the grilled pork vermacelli was not good. It’s supposed to be served with cold noodles but this was all hot. There was barely any greens in the dish. It was very plain. A friend hot the phở and it seemed good. Another ordered the short ribs on rice and those looked really good. As for iced coffee(what really matters here), this place nails it. It isn’t too sweet and has just the right amount of bitterness. Nice and strong. This place has the best ice coffee I’ve had yet in the Hawthorne/Gardena area.

Simplest explanation of their phở is «you would be already thirsty to eat Phở Hoa after drinking the last drop of their phở.»

Phở Hoa Vietnamese restaurant located in the city of Hawthorne on Prairie Ave. One of customer repeatedly said fantastic she liked it. I ordered rare steak on the side and tendon phở. Phở broth tastes so sophisticated. No Onion in broth maybe made the bowl so fresh tastes. I will definitely come back to try the same dish over and over again.

Kinda ghetto business here. Eager service but they stared while I ate. The spring rolls came out like pre made and refrigerated. Eeeee… The Phở and broth was okay-good, I got the number two with tripes tendons briskest and all that… some of the meat has a hint of old. I don’t know about this place… kinda dodgy… But upside, they’re opened early, at 7am everyday! And they close later than most Viet places around here, at 8:30, pero… I wish they weren’t so ghetto. Eh, good to go if you’re time crunching cuz the food comes out like a frisbee.

So this was my first time coming here and while I wasn’t totally disappointed, I wasn’t totally satisfied either. But I’ll say this, I’m not exactly a phở connoisseur. I had the #1 which is phở with rare steak, tendon, tripe, etc. This, I think, was my mistake. I’m not exactly the tendon/tripe kind of guy, if you catch my drift, but I was feeling adventurous and figured how bad could it be. The tripe made the whole thing taste gamey. I don’t like gamey. Fortunately, I tasted the broth prior to and it was pretty good, albeit a tad oily. The portion and price were the best parts. I was very full and I didn’t even finish. There was enough for 2 and I only paid $ 6.90 with tax and the other phở items were all less expensive. The staff, if you want to call the one old man working the counter«staff,» was friendly enough. I will say they don’t speak good English and when I asked for a recommendation he couldn’t really give me one. The menu had English subtitles so no problem there. All in all it was cool. I’ll probably try it again without the gamey meats in order to get a better feel for the place.

After moving to LA, I looked everywhere for a real Phở place. I’m not talking about Korean phở, Indonesian phở or Chinese phở and recently, I found an American phở place. I wanted straight up Garden Grove, Viet phở. My fiancé and I decided to try this place since the reviews were decent enough. When we walked in, we were met by 2 old gentlemen who barely spoke english. SCORE! Haha. It’s definitely not the best phở I’ve ever had but its the best phở in the area.

This place is a hole in the wall. The food is delicious & reasonable priced! True to what other reviews say, the decorations are not superb, but you are not dining in a Beverly Hills restaurant. You get what you pay for. The waiters are really nice once you get passed the language barrier Update 8÷21÷15 I like the food, the cleanliness not so much. Saw roaches crawling around, enough said!

I am so conflicted on how to rate this. I personally, found it delicious– BUUUUUTT would i recommend a friend(you, my dear readers) to go? I’m not sure. Ya see, the place is in a worn down part of town. You walk in, and the restaurant is just as equally worn down. I put in my order for rare steak phở and my server literally walked into the kitchen and walked back out with my food. HUH? Y’all, I can’t lie, this phở was effing delicious. A regular that was eating kept me company and made small talk across the small restaurant. The broth was nice and beefy, the noodls were perfect, the meat was rare and tender! Even the basil was lemony and crisp and a perfect accompaniament. What’s not to love? wellll… If like me, you are tempted to take a peak into the kitchen. Don’t. Just don’t. If you have a hard time eating in a shady place without thinking your food could be contaminated with whatever your imagination is running wild with– this place isn’t for you. If you are looking for warm friendly service, go elsewhere. It’s just the barebones here. If you want some DAMNGOOD phở on the cheap for breakfast, lunch or dinner? Definitely go here~!

The day after Christmas, we decided to go out to get phở for breakfast. 5+ phở restaurants were closed for the holidays, and we found Phở Hoa Restaurant via our handy-dandy Unilocal Application. The restaurant is located on the corner of Marine and Prarie, in a little strip mall. I agree with the other Unilocalers who have said that the restaurant’s exterior surroundings aren’t the best, but this restaurant doesn’t have any control over it. Let’s just concentrate on the food and service. We ordered the Phở Dac Biet(Special Combination Phở) which was a very generous portion of brisket, flank meat, tendon, tripe, and rare steak. The soup broth was very clean and clear — very untypical of many of the phở restaurants who just boil and boil and boil the meat. Here at Phở Hoa, the broth looked like it was slow boiled and it came out very clean. The soup wasn’t as hearty as many of the other phở restaurants, and for that I give it a thumbs up. There was plenty of flavor in the broth without it being heavy. Generous portion of noodles and meat in the phở. Grade: B+ We also ordered the Phở Tai(Rare Beef), which was another generous portion of clean broth with a heaping pile of rare beef. Soup was very clean tasting and we enjoyed this dish! Grade: B+ Finally, we ordered the cripsy noodles, which was crispy(egg?) noodles that were fried and topped with sliced pork, shrimp, broccoli, green onions, etc. It was a very simple and home-made dish! Good for the price. Grade: B. All phở dishes are about $ 6.50, which is a fair price. It’s consistent with many of the other phở places in the area. I ordered the iced Vietnamese Coffee — which came in the typical steel drip coffee system that sits on the cup. They added just the right amount of condensed milk so that the drink wasn’t too sweet. Good! Grade: B+ The service here is what stood out for us. There were 3 little old Vietnamese men who worked here and barely spoke a lick of English. The did their best to provide great customer service and they were very nice. The food came out very quickly. As the other tables in the restaurant were vacated, the staff quickly and efficiently cleaned up the tables so the place looked tidy! I also liked it when the fried noodle dish came out of the kitchen, a cute little Vietnamese grandma quickly shuffled over to the table with a HUGE smile on her face to deliver the food. You can tell these people love what they do — which is making good food! LOVEIT! Grade: A! Phở Hoa Restaurant is a home-style restaurant with no extra frills or fancy-schmancy stuff. It doesn’t need it. It has very clean tasting food and the service is outstanding! I’ll be back! p. s. For the other Unilocal reviewers of this restaurant who complain about the servers /owerns not talking enough English — Please remember that these people are only trying to make an honest living! I don’t speak Vietnamese, but I did just fine at this place! Overall Food Grade: B+ Overall Service Grade: A! Overall impression: B+
