Enjoyed dinner here and had fun talking to the nice folks that work here too. Had the pork lion, very juicy and super simple. The chilean sea bass was also really good — and was huge. The vegetables all tasted really fresh. I liked the vibe too. Very relaxed and quiet. Also parking is easy and free.

Having organized two private parties at Matisse in the past month, I couldn’t be happier with my experience. The ambiance was lovely, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. It was evident that Matisse cared about our total experience. It has been my 6th event at Matisse, and so far, each one has been wonderful. Thank you, Matisse!

Just attended a large group dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday and am very glad to know about this option for future reference. I tried both options of the preset menu, chicken and salmon; the salmon was excellent(the chicken was a little dry). The service was prompt, the ambiance was terrific for this gathering, and the price was affordable which is a big concern when planning these types of events. As a planner for large dinners, I will definitely keep Matisse in mind.(one minor side note — the gentleman who appeared to be in charge of our party was a little bit touchy feely and made some of the women feel slightly uncomfortable. We appreciated his attentiveness but at least for this group of church ladies they would have felt more comfortable with a less«hands-on» approach)

Eating breakfast buffet. Well seasoned potatoes. Bread a little stale, but fine when toasted. Eggs a little runny, but that isn’t anything new for buffet scrambled eggs. Sausage was dry… I don’t recommend it. French toast a little hard, but good. Disclaimer: We went to breakfast 30 minutes before it ended which may account for some of the comments. Overall, a BEAUTIFUL atmosphere and a great price.

The ambience and the quality of food was quite surprising. We thoroughly enjoyed the Seabass and the fillet. Definitely recommend it.

I’m a local from Redondo Beach and I am always trying to find the best restaurants in Southbay. Matisse had great reviews so I decided to give it a go. I didn’t realize this restaurant was inside of a hotel, right off the 405. My first thought when pulling up was… Oh gosh this place probably only has good reviews because of hotel guests. To my surprise this place was so great! A quaint little restaurant, dim lighting, nice and quite. Our server was Michael, he played his acoustic guitar for the patrons and he is so talented! Let’s talk about dinner!!! We started with a red leaf starter salad that had feta, cranberry, sugared pistachios, raspberry vinaigrette. Macadamia Crusted salmon, cooked perfectly. Plated with mashed potato and julienne carrots. Filet and Lobster, again perfectly prepared. Plated with mashed po and Brussels sprouts. We enjoyed ourselves so much and I look forward to returning again soon.

Great ambience and décor. The food is good. I had the steak and my husband had the seafood. We celebrated our anniversary here. This is a good place for couples. I’ve eaten here for brunch also. It was really good. I think this place is more popular for breakfast during the weekends.

I ate lunch at the Matisse Restaurant in Hawthorne, CA on 12÷6÷2015. It was my 2nd time there. It’s located inside the Ayres Hotel. I had a pasta dish($ 20.00), a Caesar salad($ 7.00) and coffee($ 2.95). There were four of us and we were all pleased with our meals. Fabian, our server, did a fine job. Both the restaurant and the hotel are beautiful and have added a huge tree for Christmas. Plus, I took photos.

Matisse has been a favorite restaurant for our family when we want a nice dinner. We have never been disappointed by the food or service. Our love for the restaurant made it a natural location to surprise my mom for her birthday with her 25 closest friends. The restaurant has a diaphanous partition to make a nice sized party area in the back. We requested one long banquet table, which was done beautifully. We told the staff that we would come about an hour early to decorate for the party. Everything was already set up when we arrived, and the staff helped us with the decorations and party favors. During the party the staff even washed the dishes that we brought the party favors on! Talk about going above and beyond! The entire experience was top notch. The service was impeccable, the food delicious, and the ambiance lovely. It was the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion for a very special person.

Stopped in for lunch and nothing was tasty. I started with the potato leek soup, which is a favorite of mine, and it was terrible. It had an odd sweet sour flavor. The waiter took my bowl away and didn’t question why it was still completely full. The bruschetta arrived and it was too ambitious. Grilled bread, topped with asparagus, shaved parmesan, balsamic reduction and tomato. The tomato wasn’t what I’m used to and tasted more like salsa. My husband had a pulled pork sandwich and the meat tasted off. Not a good lunch experience.

Simply fantastic. wonderful setting, very good quality of food and presentation. Our waiter Michael was equally fantastic and truly made our evening w food and wine selection recommendations. But when he brought out his guitar and played some Jackson Browne, These Days, Beatles In My Lifetime, and Gordon Lightfoot, If I Could Read Your Mind. Magical evening. Highly recommend. #duh

Today, I made the trek to Hawthorne and wanted to try out this restaurant. They have several incentives working right now, including, 1,000 point Opentable, free parking, and a Unilocal coupon for a free appetizer. I was here about 9 years ago, and felt it was a little too rich for my tastes at the time, but now that I’ve been to more restaurants, I feel there is a certain class about this restaurant, like being in Europe and having lunch in a castle. Enough said about the ambiance, now the food. Opening act is the asparagus appetizer, which was elegant and tasty. You have to ask for house bread if you want more to fill you up, and it is served with 3 different toppings(tomato, olive oil and butter) and garlic cheese chips are available as well. Our mains were fish tacos and my wife had a cheese burger. Relatively ordinary, but fast food places still seem to mess these up. Here, the quality is extraordinary, and I think we were maybe the only guests at the time, as everyone was checking out. All in all, a very nice simple lunch for under $ 40.00 a couple. So if you find yourself at the Hawthorne COSTCO for the $ 1.50 hot dog and drink, think about coming here to kick it up in class and taste.

I ate there last week and we were pleasantly surprised! They been there for about 10 years but I never knew they were there. And the prices very reasonable for good quality steak. We had the bone in rib eye which was cooked perfectly medium rare. The meat was so tender and well seasoned. We also had the Australian rack of lamb which was also very tender and well seasoned. We ate every last bite of meat to the bone. For dessert, we had the trio of crème brûlée which were all delicious. All in all, would highly recommend especially since they service is top notch! They have a great host, waiter, and server!

The food here is sooooo GOOD!!! I’ve tried the ahi tuna appetizer which i absolutely love… and the duck tacos… OMG!!! If I could eat this every day, I would! It’s easy to dismiss this place(inside of the Ayres Hotel), my friend suggested it for dinner and I remember saying to her«where??» I literally live down the street from here and didn’t even know there was a restaurant of this caliber inside.

I have had dinner here and it was very good. There servers are very friendly and prompt. Although I have only been here once for dinner, I was surprised by their morning breakfast. It is very reasonable and of high quality. The omelettes are fluffy and very good. The parking is free for non hotel guests. The restaurant has a bar with TV and is a nice place to wind down at. I will definitely be coming here for breakfast on a regular basis.

We recently booked Matisse Catering for a Ceremony and Reception at the Ayres Hotel. The catering manager Deanna is great to work with. And she’s super detailed and remembers every little detail you give her to make your day special. The Ayres Hotel is absolutely beautiful if you’re into the old castle feel. You wouldn’t expect a place like this in Hawthorne. The ceremony is held in the courtyard outdoors. And the reception is next door. The reception is a little dark and old, but it wasn’t too bad. The food here is pretty good. And they allow you to bring your own cake. There is a fee for the ceremony and there are a few packages for your meal options. You’re also able to customize the meal in case there’s something else you see in the menu that you’d like. The Ayres Hotel also gives you a block discount if you reserve ten or more rooms at the hotel. What Matisse catering provides are table numbers, and tea lights on each table. The restrooms are nearby, and they let you set up hours before the event if it’s a daytime event. Of course, if it’s a night time event, they may be booked beforehand for a daytime event. Daytime events are usually form 11 — 4. Nighttime events are form 6pm — 12am.(**Quick tip** try not to stay on the right side of the hotel if there is an event going on that night. The music is incredibly loud and you’re able to hear it in the hotel room. Parking is free if you’re there for less than an hour. Parking is $ 5 for 1hr — 4 hrs $ 10 for 4+ Hours(up to 24 hours) The food they provided was pretty good. The crab cakes were delicious. The panko pork chops are good and so was the bass. Also their pecan crusted salmon is really good. I would recommend it.

Pretty decent french food for the price We had the bruschetta and duck tacos for appetizers and I got the steak for my main course. Bruschetta was just okay but it was free with a check-in anyway. The steak though was good. The ambience was nice — it was like dining in a château. The service was good too. Overall, a good value and worth trying out.

The Mr threw me a surprised birthday party here! The venue is beautiful, and the food was scrumptious! I don’t know who had coordinated with my husband about the party, but the hotel did a great job of executing my husband’s plans. They had bar as well as a big dance floor set up for my party, and the tables were beautifully decorated with candles and flower center pieces. My friends were saying it was like going to a second wedding! The hors d’oeuvres were amazing! I love the martini cups ceviche the best, followed by the crab cakes and finally the lollipop chicken skewers. For entrees the Mr did a surf and turf of jumbo prawns with filet mignon. Everyone loved the food and the booze! It was a great party! He did good! Cheers!

Overall, a nice place to eat with good quality ingredients. I had the chicken marsala(I don’t see it on the menu anymore) and a caesar salad. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The only real issue I had was at the end of our meal the waiter pointed out the portion on the bill that shows you how much we should tip. I found that to be a little offensive. Otherwise, if I were to stay at this hotel again, I would have no problem eating at Matisse.
