The Biryani was really yummy! My husband had the goat biryani and I had the chicken. The meat was very tender and yummy and there was lots of yummy rice. I also had the garlic nan and it was really tasty it was soft and perfect. I want to come back and try more items. Yum can’t wait.

When we entered the restaurant no one was there. We had to wait a few mins before someone showed up. The poor lady didn’t know how to speak English so she couldn’t take our order. She was very sweet but she could not understand so we had to wait for the owner. We were the only ones in the restaurant but it took them a while to serve us. We should have stood up and left because when we were ordering they don’t have most of the things we wanted. The mango Lassi is canned and not made fresh. The garlic Naan wasn’t baked in house and was frozen. The chicken Tikka masala was a bit sour and the chicken was tough. The Chicken Biryani was not at all flavorful. It was hot spicy but not flavorful spicy. The owner who does not know anything about customer service is very rude. I wonder how a restaurant like this stays open. I came to this place because it’s close by and the reviews were promising. But I have an Indian friend and she said that the people making those good reviews are probably not Indian. I guess she was right. Never coming back.

Crappy service, but all in all decent food. Not really comparable to homemade biryani but not bad for restaurant food. A little pricey for a restaurant but reasonable food quantity.

We always take biryani takeouts only from here. The biryani usually is very very good n authentic. sometimes the taste differs from other times but still not bad. ITs the best you can get in LA cuz everyone else’s biryani is not even good at all. N we barely have any options here in SoCal. Also Its fresh during the day time. But I don’t recommend the shrimp biryani from here.

Food is very tasty and filling. Service was attentive. Prices are average. I wouldn’t rate it very high on ambiance, but if you are looking for authentic taste, then you can not go wrong. Worth it for sure!

No ambiance, no «service» per se — but hot damn the food is GOOD. Bihari chicken or beef is out of this world! spicy and oh so tender soft! Biryani is also very good, but the must have FTW is the bihari!

My Pakistani born friend of mine took me to the Biryani House, convincing me that this place is the place to go for the cleanest Halal food with authentic Pakistani spices. Halal prepared food(s) that involve an animal must be prepared in a certain fashion for the Muslim consumer. According to the very legitimate source called Wikipedia: The food must come from a supplier that uses halal practices. Specifically, the slaughter must be performed by a Muslim, who must precede the slaughter by invoking the name of Allah, most commonly by saying«Bismillah»(«In the name of God») and then three times«Allahu akbar»(God is the greatest). Then, the animal must be slaughtered with a sharp knife by cutting the throat, windpipe and the blood vessels in the neck, causing the animal’s death without cutting the spinal cord. Lastly, the blood from the veins must be drained. So interesting! Right?!? …Anyhow, food is generally spicy. I love spicy! My friend did all the ordering and interaction with the people that worked there, so I don’t have much of an opinion on service. Although I was amused, but pleased with the waitress leaving a one gallon water jug at the table(literally) –after graciously refilling our water glasses about 3 times without having to flag her down during our meal. As I said, the food is spicy and it was a sweltering hot day!

Restaurant manage by the owner and his wife. Food is dilicious because they cook with authentic Pakistani’s falvors. Every time we come to LA from San Francisco we have to eat at their restaurant. I recommend Bryani chicken and Bhary kabab.

WORSTBIRYANI in LA(or anywhere in the world). Being a professional chef for over 10 yrs and growing up in India most of my life, I’ve had Biryani more than a million time in half a million different places. And this is THEWORST one ever. Food was horrible. Biryani is known for its flavors and the most vital part of it, apparently there is no flavor in it. You can fool the people who no nothing about an authentic biryani not me. Being named as «Biryani house», I assume their best shot is Biryani and It’s not even close to be okay. Violation of FDA regulation by using synthetic food coloring, which leads to stomach cancer, there are reasons that there is a law, guess they don’t need to follow it! Traditionally the color is to be obtained by Saffron, I understand the price point so just don’t use a fake unhealthy stuff. But if color is important increase the price and use saffron. Lets talk about service, if anyone ever complains that the french are so rude, I would recommend them to dine in this restaurant once in your life time, you would change your mind right away that the french are far better. No eye contact, no courtesy. Last time I heard smiling is good for you. When I walked in there is no one to help me seated or even to hand over a menu. I have travelled to 24 different countries and hands down this is THEWORST restaurant ever. I’m never going back there even if I get the food for free.

The meals were good sizes. Prices were ok. They were out of most of the things we asked for and they weren’t polite about it. Not much chicken in the korma or tikka masala. They wouldn’t let us dine in when the shop was empty. Pretty disappointing service

This place has potatoes in the biryani, which is very common in Pakistan but not the norm in the US. The owner may throw you off since he shouts and has issues accepting credit cards even when you exceed the minimum charge. The staff may seem rude but they’re actually quite sweet and just talk really loud. To sum it up, great food served with an attitude. Love it.

Pretty good chicken biryani. Not the best I’ve ever had(Zam Zam in Culver was better– but they got closed down due to vermin. Eek.) A little heavy on the clove. Sauce was not mixed evenly throughout(not a true Karachi style Biryani). Service(even for an ethnic hole-in-the-wall place) was really not great, hence my 3 star review– the older gentleman was kind of rude to myself and two friends(who I had proudly bought to try biryani for the first time). It turns out that«student biryani» and«biryani» are actually one and the same dish, which we were confused about when we ordered one of each and both were identical– he got kind of offended when we asked, as if to be like, «Duh! Why wouldn’t these two dishes that have different names be identical?» Hm ok. And then finally he wouldn’t split the check three ways, or even two ways(one of us had cash). He delivered the bill and told us to leave(they closed at 9) but it wasn’t even 9 yet! The waitress working was very nice, however– she was shorter and had glasses on. Really very friendly.

I knew that I loved biryani, which for the uninitiated is a hearty rice & meat dish seasoned with cumin and touches of clove, star anise, and turmeric. Biryani House are bona fide Biryani Experts. Deelicious! They take justified pride in their«Best Biryani in Los Angeles» because it’s made very traditionally in the Karachi, Pakistani way with a lightly-hot tiny pot of savory sauce w/spoon, and they serve your biryani on a little platter with an empty plate so you can dish it out(and I definitely can, and eat it too, lol). Food, service, and prices: amazing. Location: on a busy avenue not ideal for parking but with a nice lot in back, I became a regular here on my first try! I. Love. It.

I was greeted by: «Lunch Special?» Huh? This was my first time here so I had no idea what this matronly lady was talking about. I said«Ah I need to see the menu». She said«Sit down» I felt like I came home and was talking to my mom. Biryani House is definitely a little home style Pakistani restaurant. After looking at the Unilocal and coming here with the intent of ordering some Biryani, I decided to take mom’s word for it and ordered the lunch special. The lunch special came on this huge metal school cafeteria style tray with each compartment filled with a different entrée. The main slot was Basmati rice and Tandoori Chicken, then there is one with a salad, one with Curry Chicken, one with Vegi, and finally one with Chicken Kabob. Then there was the basket with an extra sized naan, freshly baked. Of all the choices, I thought the curry was the best. A Pakistani style curry, deep dark red exploding with spices and flavors that keep me and my piece of naan smiling. The Tandoori chicken drumstick was like none I’ve ever had before. From first glance it just looked like a well grilled piece of chicken with the traditional reddish tinge. However, upon one bite I noticed it was juicy and had a slight, I want to say, citrus flavor. The citrus flavor juice was filled with all the spices of the Tandoori Chicken. I finished my lunch special in delight. I sat there satisfied, enjoying the feeling that only a full tummy could bring and also reading the rest of the chapter of the book I brought along. Then a gentleman came by my table and asked if I’ve had enough and would I like something else. To some, they may have thought the tone rude but for me it was a voice that treated me as someone familiar. I said«no thank you». He said«ok it is $ 8» and walked away. Now the lunch special is advertised as $ 7.99. I guess with the extra penny we could call that tax and we are good? Anyway, his departure had the feel of don’t worry about the check just put the money on the table when you are ready. I did just that and walked out feeling like I just ate at a friend’s restaurant. Next time? Definitely some Biryani.

I left before I could even try the place. Some old son of a bitch came out and started yelling at me about my order not being available. Ok, keep calm and talk me through it. Don’t shout like you came from no class and manners. The rudest customer service I have ever experience. I walked out as fast as i could. There is no second chance of me coming back here to try the food. It’s not worth it. I hope this place goes out of business soon. It’s taking up space. F**k them. Lesson: never upset a customer to this point.

It’s too bad Biryani House doesn’t have too many pictures of it’s delectable food. My first experience at Biryani House was a few years ago and it still tastes the same. Consistency is definitely a good thing. I’m not quite sure why this restaurant in comparison to the countless other Pakistani and Indian restaurants is so underrated. Alright, perhaps I have some what of an idea. The location is a bit sketchy but it’s no worse than the location of Al Watan in all fairness. Biryani house is good for exactly that. Biryani. I have not tried everything off of their menu but I’m sure there’s a lot more to discover. Of course there is nothing better than homemade biryani, but Biryani House shall do for those random cravings :) Here’s to some tantalizing eats Unilocalers!

Showed up an hour and a half before closing and at first was told I could only order take-out because they were closing soon. But shortly after I was told eating in would be okay. Our party of three had chicken tikka masala, chicken birhyani, and chicken tandoori. Everything tasted great and the level of spice was perfect for my taste(I tend to prefer spicy food). We didn’t have to wait long for our food, but I can’t really say much for the service. I don’t think the owner was trying to be rude, but I didn’t feel all that comfortable with the way he communicated with us — especially when we first arrived. However, the food was good enough that I’d return if in the area.
