Omg the ice cream here is amazing. Maybe a little bit pricey, but SO worth it. I only got one flavor(pistachio), and I wish I had sampled everything else, lol. The pistachio ice cream was delicious! Super creamy in texture, just the right level of sweetness, and the perfect amount of nutty flavor. Can’t rave about this place enough. It just sucks that it’s so far out from the main touristy part of the island. But it’s worth coming out here at least once. They’ve raised the bar for ice cream. The brand of ice cream is called Tropical Dreams, so I don’t think it’s exclusively sold at this store, but out of the two places that I’ve tried, the ice cream here tasted the best, even though both were the same brand.

This place has some of the best ice cream on the island! It’s so creamy and yummy! The coffee is also pretty amazing. The Tahitian vanilla, chocolate mac nut, vanilla latte and Kona Au Lait were awesome.

$ 1 coconut macaroon cookie was a toasty, buttery compliment to the best Americano I’ve ever had!

Yes the ice cream is good. But I was very disappointed when I spent $ 35 on a Bivaletz stoneware mug and the staff(or owner) wrapped it in a big ball in tissue so that when I set it down on the table to actually eat my ice cream, it rolled off the table and shattered into a thousand pieces. The staff just shrugged. Surely she could have at least said she was sorry or even offered another mug at some discount. But just a shrug.

Ice cream is delicious, no mistaking that! Staff could be a little happier, and more generous with serving size.

So this was our day for sightseeing and we were looking for a quick reasonable breakfast, happened to find this quaint little coffee shop going through Hawi, got coffees & the breakfast bagels, was all yummy!

It was a average ice cream shop. Just blown out reviews. I guess the tourist have made it a big deal place. I had coffee and ice cream, it was just fine. U can surely go there for a coffee break but silly us(foodies that we r) went only for the review as heard from locals.

Nice little stopover on the way to or from Pololu Valley lookout and hike. Great ice cream or fresh fruit shave ice upstairs. They make fresh fudge and kambucha, too, oddly enough.

Do you expect 100% Kona coffee when you are in Big Island, where Kona is? Don’t be. Coffee shops depends on regulars who treat this drink as a staple, instead of gourmet experiences. They want good coffees that are not expensive. This is one such thing. At this corner that Starbucks does not exist(!) This is pretty much as good as it get. I won’t complain on the coffee. Just the breakfast side is really too sparsely offered.

Check out the Kava bar just up the stairs from The Mill. Their shaved ice is the great! They use real fruit to flavor the shaved ice, my husband had the guava and lilikoi and said it was the best he’d had. I had their blueberry shake it was delicious so refreshing, and vegan! Only fresh fruit was used. They had kava available but the flavored kava is available after 4pm.

Great stop for a sandwich, drink, and some ice cream. Very fresh ingredients and well-prepared. The cappuccino I had was very good with some needed caffeine for the late afternoon!

Good ice cream, coffee is ok, but coffee bean prices are wicked expensive. I’m not a fan but would need to try other items before making a final determination. Perhaps some day. This is the only place of its kind for miles so they don’t really need to try that hard.

This was such a great place! We stopped here on the way back after doing the hike to the black sand beach. We walked by all the other restaurants and the prices were just way too high for a quick lunch. We walked across the street to this café just to see what they had. They have sandwiches and coffee and ice cream and more. I was able to get a burger, a bottle of water, two eggs and a brownie for only $ 13 bucks. Honestly was plenty and I was really surprised at that. The burger was cooked well and we really enjoyed sitting outside. If you are in Hawi and want to grab a quick bite and still have some money for some souvenirs somewhere else than I deff recommended this place! They have ice cream for the kids and coffee for adults lol and the food is good portion for the price!

The ice cream here is definitely delicious. We tried and really enjoyed the coconut cream flavor. But it’s overpriced($ 3.10 for a tiny cup).

I’ll be honest… I’ve home here many times, but have never had the coffee. The ice cream is amazing, and is just perfect for the afternoon drive back to the hotel after hiking around the area. Be sure to try out the ice cream made with local fruits. Lychee was definitely my favorite!

Brian’s shave ice in LA has ruined me for life. I come to Hawaii and the shave ice doesn’t offer dole whip in the middle, just the shave ice. But still, it was pretty good and the service was great. I’d recommend this place for a snack/pit stop. Lots of people came here after hiking Pololu Valley.

Believe it or not, they have the best chilli dog I have ever tasted. And I don’t even really like hot dogs. I went back and got another one after my first. The chilli is cooked in a big pot right in front of you and the tomatoes and onions are cut fresh and sprinkled on top. You can sit outside on the tables and enjoy the surroundings of the village. Kohala Staff were friendly as well. A great place to grab a bite after going zip-lining down the street.

Awesome ice cream!!! However for the price it was not worth it. Maybe a big bowl of shaved ice upstairs would have been money much better spent. The coffee beans are expensive. Just because it says coffee mill doesn’t mean it’s an actual mill like other coffee mills where it comes with free tasting etc.

The(pretty) local Tropical Dreams ice cream is wonderful. I became addicted to the Macadamia Nut flavour, and sought it out on the Big Island while I could. The staff at the Coffee Mill were friendly and happy to help you sample until you found a flavour you like. I didn’t get the chance to try their own food, but liked the space and the team enough to try it in future.
