Best homemade tuna! Don’t even need dressing whenever I order a tuna salad. This is a carry out establishment only, but as Bill H. suggested, there are plenty of parks with benches to sit and eat (some with pavilions for inclement weather). The staff is super friendly.

I’m sorry but the person who gave a 1 star review for this place must be crazy lol. I’ve been coming here ever since I was little, and the food has always been amazing. Fresh meats, bread, veggies, excellent service, what more can you ask for? I’ve known the owner since I was little as well, and he’s always been nice. This place has been here since before I was born, and I’m so glad it is still here today for everyone to enjoy.

I have to agree with the other reviewers here. They have said exactly what I wanted to say. When in the Havre de Grace area and you’re hungry, Sam’s Deli is fast, friendly and efficient. They don’t mess around, great service and you get your money’s worth. This is my favorite place to go when I’m in town. It’s take out only, but I can sit in my car or in the park on a nice day, munching on my turkey and provolone cheese sub with lettuce, tomato and mayo and also sweet pickles and be perfectly happy. From Daniel J’s review here, I now want to try the tuna sub next and then a cheesesteak. The regulars who come in will not hesitate to tell you what they like.

Sam’s is my favorite place to order subs. I will not go anywhere else, their deli is always fresh and tasty! I usually order their delicious Virginia baked ham with provolone cheese, mayo, onions, lettuce, tomato. They are absolutely fantastic, not to mention the staff is fast and very friendly! Always call ahead and it’s cash only. They also close early at 7pm and aren’t open on Sundays. I hope they stay in business a long time because I love their subs! I’m actually getting one tonight with my mom :) Their store also has chips, soda, tea and a bunch of snacks! Call them today, 410.939.9594!

I’ve been eating at this deli for nearly as long as I’ve been alive. It is practically a HdG institution its been there for so long.
The owners (which have changed a few times) have always been incredibly friendly. Their Italian sub is fantastic, and be sure to ask for extra hot peppers. I’ve also been a big fan of their turkey, and roast beef subs. The large sub is more than you will ever need to eat, and I have a HUGE appetite. Sam’s has a great selection of chips and drinks to go with your order as well. The prices are beyond reasonable.
Definitely try it out if you are in the area, and don’t be scared off by its appearance. If it has been around for that long, there is a good reason.
