We drove here after visiting Bear Mountain State Park. My son had fallen asleep in the car though so we did not get to stay. It did look lovely it’s quite a few moms & toddlers running around. Lovely garden at entrance & nice views. No parking fee when we were there.

A lovely experience at this park. There is a little stand/booth as you enter, but both times I visited, no one was there. On the website, it states«The park is open to the general public all year round», so I am guessing there are no fees or requirement of being a county resident. We went there during Memorial Day weekend since we were in the area and actually heading up to Bear Mountain along Route 9W. Bear Mountain + Memorial Day Weekend = Not good. It was super crowded so we ended up at Bowline Park. It was fairly empty, which is great! I’d imagine, everyone was at Bear Mountain maybe?! There are lots of things to do. There were a few people grilling on the grass, a few people fishing(not sure if you need a license or anything) and lots of kids. The playground area is wonderful. There were three different play areas, one of which was in a sandpit. Toward the end of the park was a large gazebo structure, which I believe was reserved for a private function. The park was very clean, and really impressed me. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a gathering in the area to contact the town to inquire about reserving that back area. Lovely views since the town is right on the water. Did I mentioned the pool/waterpark?! If you google the park, it is probably the first thing you will see. It was closed at the time we went so you may want to call to inquire about when it opens.(According to the website it says June 20th) Lastly there was a high structure, built of logs and full of wood about 20 feet high. Upon looking it up, apparently the town lights the damn thing on fire every year. It is called«fire watch» I believe and I would like to find out more about it. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
