H&H Fish Seafood & Chicken

A great roadside find! Fried foods at their best. Quality fish and nice staff. Its a little roadside produce/​gift shop/​restaurant in a small, rural town. You order at a window up front. The dining area is surrounded by shelves of odd trinkets, statues and the like. It was a gorgeous fall day so we opted to sit outside.
When we swing back thru town on the rare occasions we are taking backroads up to northern Illinois we will stop by for some buffalo and catfish from the mighty Mississippi.

H&H Fish Seafood & Chicken has been open for about three years. They started out three years ago selling raw fish and as of two years ago, have been cooking (deep frying) a variety of other items for lunch and dinner.
The business is hard to describe in that the building serves multiple functions. In the summer they sell fresh produce. In the fall it’s pumpkins and gourds. Part if the facility is dedicated to selling ceramics and gifts. Another part houses the fresh fish and cooked food sales.
It was a chilly and overcast the evening that the wife and I dropped in. We were greeted by a great gal named Louise who seemed to be (capably) running the whole show. She inquired if we were dining in or getting the order to go (according to her 90% of the cooked food sales are carry-​out). That question was answered by the immense rainstorm that began soon after we walked in.
We each opted for the home made tenderloin, one side of deep fried mushrooms, an iced tea and a can of soda. Our tab was $ 24.00.
Seating was in the aforementioned gift sales area which made for an interesting experience. Please take note, some of the items are really expensive. This is NOT the place for children to run loose!
Our meal came quickly and my eyes almost popped at the size of the sandwich. They were at least 10 inches across. The coating was crunchy and lightly seasoned very delicious. The meat inside had been pounded to a thickness of about ³⁄₈ of an inch. In my opinion it was one of the best tenderloin sandwiches in the area. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked and were a great addition to the meal.
Neither of us could finish our sandwich so we headed home carry-​out box in hand.
I heartily recommend the H&H Fish Seafood & Chicken. The food is great. The atmosphere is… well different. Not bad mind you, just different.
