1st tip… if you ain’t from around here then you prolly gonna need a GPS to find this hidden gem… just FYI! But this place is definitely worth the trip… just a small little place way back in the woods that fries up some excellent catfish, hushpuppies, shrimp and oysters… if you don’t like fried or are in to fancy shmansy dining then don’t bother showing up cause you’re S.O.L! This place does good ol’ country fish frying and it’s delicious! All order options are under $ 15 except for possibly the Seafood Platters… nice blond wood interior with lots LSU pictures and mementos scattered around… I hadn’t been here in years but went with the folks on 3/29/13…the Dad likes going here cause he can get whole fried catfish… most places these days only offer filets… I went with ½ catfish filets & ½ fried oysters and they pile on the food for a damn reasonable price($ 13.50)…you can have any draft beer you want as long as it’s Miller Lite! My 2 mugs were ice cold and tasty with that fish… another thing I love is that they offer you thick slices of raw onion with your catfish! That used to be standard up here in this part of the state but places don’t really do that no more… That’s a shame cause fried catfish and raw onion go hand in hand to make a damn tasty meal! If you gotta hankering for some fried catfish the old school way in an old school atmosphere jump off the main roads, lock your 4×4 down in Grandma, put a little gravel in your travel and get out to Shockley’s…they’ll make you feel welcome where both the fish and the grease are fresh!!!
