The owner and employees were very friendly, they had a medium size selection on popcorn and the free samples tasted like it was a little old but the product we purchased was very fresh, the floor could’ve used a little mopping cause the floor was very sticky so overall I give it a 3!

Fell in love with this popcorn business immediately. They have original flavors you’d not find anywhere else, and the prices are extremely reasonable. It’s Owned and operated by a local USM graduate! Worth a stop in the evening of your in town!

I was fortunate recently to receive several free bags of Southern Kernels Hub City mix at my job, courtesy of the ladies from the Hattiesburg tourism commission. I was hooked. I stopped in to see what flavors they carry and walked out with a gallon canister full of caramel, bbq ribs, and the very tasty Hub City mix (you can get more than one flavor in a can). I was pleasantly surprised that I will receive refills for half price! We took advantage of that today and got our first refill. You can also help yourself to free samples before buying.

Before I visited Southern Kernels, I largely felt indifferent about popcorn. I viewed it as ok, but nothing special. Then, my wife tuned me in to Southern Kernels and their multitude of popcorn flavors. Instantly, I became a huge popcorn fan! I recommend trying all of the flavors (e.g., Hub City Mix, Cajun, Birthday Cake). They are a great, small business.
