Best sausage of my life, and I don’t even like sausage! We went to the sausage factory yesterday and bought $ 20 worth of sausage. Most of the sausages are $ 7.50/lb and one link is around 1⁄3 pound. Our favorite is the mild Italian, which still has some spice to it. Blair, the owner is very friendly and he loves to share his love of sausage. The bacon is sliced thick and it has the most heavenly smell when it is cooking.

Great selection of sausages and bacon. The staff was very helpful and patiently answered all my pork questions. So far we’ve tried a couple kinds of bacon and their house-made bread and were very happy with everything. They also sell unseasoned fresh ground pork. An added bonus, I didn’t expect to find artisan bread at a butcher. Fresh, crusty, and chewy, I’m hooked. I’ve just found a great butcher and baker. Now if only they made candles…

Old World Sausage Co. is a splendid addition to Hatboro’s shopping district. On any given day, the display case has a couple of dozen on-the-premises-crafted sausages. Available for order are scores more from around the world(from worst to English blood sausage). In our household, the favorite fresh varieties are the fragrant and spicy Abruzzi and Calabrese and favorite smoked varieties are the andouille, chorizo and liguica. The owner comes from a long line of master sausage-makers, and he is more than happy to explain the seasonings and relative spiciness of his offerings. His enthusiasm for educating customers definitely has inspired us to try new(and previously unknown to us) sausage varieties. There is no reason to purchase prepackaged or supermarket sausage when you can have fresh chemical-and preservative-free artisanal sausage made by a local small business. BTW, OWS’s sausages are great on the grill and make wonderful gifts for the carnivores in your life.
